Hey everyone it's Ben Hardy here and in today's video I'm going to be going over a
2021 Cadillac Escalade. This is the longer version of the Escalade but first and foremost a huge
shout out and thank you to Armormax for giving me some time with the Escalade. Check out their
inventory in the link below and yes this Cadillac is going to get armored so this is basically going
to be like a presidential mobile. I know that's not a word but I just made it a word. Let's get
into the video. Under the hood of the Escalade we have a naturally aspirated 6.2 liter v8 that goes
through a 10 speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is 14 around town and then 19 on the
highway with power outputs being 420 horsepower and then 460 pound feet of torque. Let's go to
the front end on the Escalade. So first off I absolutely love the new design of the hood on
the Escalade. It's absolutely massive but it's really sharp and it comes straight into these
full led lights with the led accent light that is again massive. It goes down like half of the
bumper and then you've got the full blacked out grille there with the Cadillac logo. Parking
sensors all along the front end but like the one thing that I've noticed about this, especially
since this one is finished in black, if Batman had an SUV it would be this Cadillac Escalade.
Like it just like has a bunch of sharp angles and this looks so much better than the previous
generation. Coming around the side here we've got two 75 millimeter tires wrapped around 22 inch
wheels in the front and over in the rear. They are absolutely massive all blacked out to match the
rest of this particular Escalade and then notice how they mold it right here to kind of break
things up a little bit around the wheels but just everything's been blacked out. The mirrors, the door
handles, all of it and then here's the full side view. You can see just how long it is from the side.
Now let's pop into the back here of the Escalade. So first off if we actually pop this little thing
right here we can see you've got some extra storage just underneath. Love the little plaques
right here that says Escalade on it and look how massive the speakers are. You notice everything
in this vehicle is just out of proportion absolutely massive and then we do have some
controls right here so these are to basically fold down the seats which is pretty nice. So you press
this little button right here and then notice that the seat there on the second row fold down
and then here's for the third row so press that little button right there and then third row
fold down and then if you want it back up you just press the button again and then it'll pop it back
up and then lastly there is a full power outlet back here but notice that you actually get swayed
headliner here even in the very back where nobody's really going to be.
Let's finish things up in the rear of the Escalade. I've got the Escalade on so you guys can see the
taillights which we'll go over those in just a moment and then yes just like the Tahoe and the
Yukon you still get the window here in the back and then when you're done with it you just put
it down and then pops into place. We still get the massive LED lights just like the previous
generation that go all the way down here with the Escalade and we've got a couple badges back here
so this badge it's really hard to see because it's all blacked out it says 600 on it that
actually represents the longer version of the Escalade or in other countries represents 600
newton meters of torque because that's how much this engine produces kind of like an interesting
trivia fact anyways parking sensors all along the rear and then we've got the exhaust tips on either
side which are all squared off but yeah overall still looks really good from the back end and
that like massive boxy design and here from the rear it looks a little bit less like redesigned
than the front end now let's go over the rear here on the Escalade it's a beautiful door panel
we've got this really nice leather with the stitching all throughout and the soft touchdown
below with the wood trim and then you got a little door handle your door lock and unlock and then
you've got a couple speakers there for the sound system then they continue the leather here with
the piping you've got a little Escalade logo and then here the seats the seats are awesome so got
a nice perforated leather here that goes all through I love the checkered design there in
the center portion and then the piping all throughout really soft to the touch and then
these do slide backwards and forwards you can see you've got the adjustments right there but
let's pop in so we can live the life of luxury for the next 30 seconds here in the back of the
Escalade if you're wondering I sit all the way up in 511 I don't touch the top which is nice
legroom still really solid and then notice down here that the rear passengers can control some
climate stuff you've got your seat controls there for the heated seats and then this is just cup
holders if you're wondering pops out right there but then you control the temperature and everything
just from this little screen system which I think is pretty neat but yeah nothing too crazy
really easy to use and now let's get to the screens we've got one screen over here which
is turned off and the reason I have this turned off is you have to turn on the screens you can
turn them on both at the front or individually at the front so like I have this one off but I got
this one on so yes you do get a screen back here and notice that you can control a couple of things
right here you obviously can connect it with the USB all that kind of stuff you can listen to music
and then you can control the navigation as well from the rear here which I think it's kind of
interesting so the rear passengers cannot turn the screens on themselves if to turn it on from
the front but then you can put navigation directions in from the rear it seems kind of just a little
bit counterintuitive to me but yeah you guys can see pretty simple to use and then the other weird
thing I thought about this screen is I can turn it off so again I can't do anything like there's
buttons or anything to turn this on but I can turn it off now no Escalade review is complete
without me popping into the back row which I still have headroom and I mean my legs are kind of like
pushed up but I still have legroom as well notice I got some couples here but it's just kind of
plastic back here they have like a little leather padding thing here but it's not as nice and then
you get a little USB right there and then you got that for the seat there in front of me but these
seats are just as nice so you still get the really nice leather with the perforations all
throughout and even there in the middle seats really nice but I don't know it's just not as
nice as the second row the second row is definitely the place to be and also I missed this earlier in
the second row notice you get a bunch of USBs and a full power outlet down there like they've got
everything back here like this is such a nice place to be go the door panel here in the front
of the Escalade so again you've got the beautiful soft touch leather all around with the wood trim
more of the stitching here at the top portion and then you've got all of your window controls
right here with your mirror adjustments and then you've got your memory seats right there and then
you've got your actual heated seats and cold seats are on the door kind of like Mercedes style a
little bit and you got your door lock and unlock I really like the door handles here on the interior
and then here the seats at the front these seats are incredible so you've got the nice perforated
leather here all throughout the center again it's cool they did that right there and then the smooth
leather here on the sides and yes you do have speakers in the headrest it seems like that's
kind of like becoming the thing in the car industry and then your adjustments are here on the side of
the seat again Cadillac or sorry the Escalade little plaque then you got the pedal layout
just down below and then you do have the trailer brake controls that are already integrated your
parking brake right here and then you've got your driveline selects you've got your auto your two
wheel high your four wheel high and then this is kind of like your hill climb assist you get your
modes right here this is for the air suspension to raise or lower the Escalade and then the steering
wheel is automatically adjustable and there's one more look before we pop in
let's start with the steering wheel here and the interior of the Escalade so we've got really nice
leather covering the whole steering wheel including the airbag cover you've got the giant Cadillac
logo there on the center and here on the side of the steering wheel you've got your controls for
the phone controls all that normal stuff right there beautiful wood trim just down below and
then you've got your cruise control over here on this side you've got your heated steering wheel
button and then you've got your collision assistance as well paddle shifters here in the
back if you're gonna shift gears yourself you've got little stock right there for the windshield
wipers and then you've got the stock for the turn signal the lights on the other side but yeah
really nice looking steering wheel definitely feels and looks premium now we've got a bunch
of screens here in the Escalade so first off again nice wood trim just down below the screen
and you're looking at the screen you're like okay cool you've got a screen there on the side but
guess what it's a touch screen and then this is actually where you can adjust the heads-up display
and then you guys can see for the gauges as well and yes this does come with night vision which i
think is pretty cool and notice that well it's not dark enough for this to be in use but you do
have night vision and then i love the camera as well you guys can see that'll pop up right here
look at that that is absolutely fantastic we control that via the side and that's just so
cool that you like actually have use of that and then yes with the heads-up display you can basically
just do the adjustment if you guys are wondering the heads-up display is just right there hopefully
the camera's picking it up you guys can probably see the little zero right there but yeah got a
little side screen that controls stuff and yeah just look at that that's cool that is so so cool
go over the rest of this gigantic center screen so again you guys saw the night vision that i
sadly can't use and then you've got the giant camera there at the front and then also you
can have it be navigation there in the center as well so they kind of stole this from like
audi's virtual cockpit where they have the navigation and then finally you can just have it
be a regular gauge cluster so it just depends on which one you like the look of most first thing
we're going to go over is the drive mode so you've got a couple you've got your tour sports off-road
and tow haul you really don't need a whole lot with the escalade because well there's only so
many things you're going to use this for right so they keep the drive modes pretty straightforward
and then yes this does also come with the alexa you can see there on the side but just from like
a center instrument cluster whatever you want to call this this is the best one that i have
reviewed so far it looks absolutely fantastic it's easy to use and it comes with a ton
of cool features now here's for the center infotainment system first off if we pop it
into reverse you've got the backup camera and the trajectory lines do turn with the steering
wheel and then you've got a little escalator right there with the bird's eye view and then you've got
a bunch of different other viewpoints over the camera they can give you like an overhead they
give you out the sides as well and then you can just go back to the normal view but there's even
more so you've got the view at the front and then you've got all these different viewpoints
that you can basically go around with the escalator which is pretty cool it has like the
little animation right there to go through it and then you've got that to zoom in for the trailer
and then you can take away the lines with that little button right there like there's just so
many different camera viewpoints with this parking this is not going to be an issue whatsoever for
the rest of the infotainment system a lot of you guys have been asking me to comment on sound
systems the sound system in this is crazy obviously i can't play music over the video
because i get copyright infringement but the sound system is great and then the rear media again you
control it via the screen you guys can see you've got both the screens which you can turn them on
or off and then you can do them both at the same time whatever you want but this infotainment system
response time is fantastic and i feel like it's differentiated itself really well from the gmcs
and the chevys like it still has really good response time like those screens but it still
looks different enough that it feels like i'm getting a different unit and again you've got
alexa built in look at the ambient lighting this is pretty cool you've got all these different
colors that you can do on the interior and then it shows you a little animation of where it's
actually going to light up with the color which i think is another nice little feature with this
and then obviously you got the stuff for the trailers you can go to the cameras again from
this and then we went over the rear media androdo and apple carplay also come with this and then
notice you can also control the rear climate but yeah hopefully you guys can see infotainment system
again really really good on this just down below the infotainment system we've got all the climate
controls so remember you've got the climate for the rear and then you've got the two climates in
the front and then they give you a separate little tab so you don't have to go through an infotainment
system to get to any of that and then here's the shifter for that 10 speed automatic and it's
pretty straightforward there's a little button on the side that you press to get into the different
gears you do have a low range with it and then you just push in for park and then in front of
the shifter there's your auto hold there's the auto stop certain then there's the lane departure
assistance and then down below the shifter you actually have controls for the infotainment system
so yes it's a touchscreen but also you've got the dial where you can control everything
so you basically get both and this also gives you shortcut buttons which is nice
so you just get to use both the controls really good that they give you like the analog controls
for the infotainment system then touchscreen so again just another reason why this is like the
best infotainment system ever a couple of usbs right here we've got some cup holders and everything
but if you don't want to see that you've got nice wood covering for it i feel like this is like the
wood that you see in like a really rich old dude's house like this is the type of wood that i expect
in there and then you've got your little phone holder in that little area and then we've got
the center console which also doubles as a fridge by the way you do have the little cooler button
that you can use on that a couple more usbs all that kind of stuff and closing that up you can
see really nice stitching over the top of the center console coming over here got the glove
box which is lined with felt and you've got leather on the outside of the glove box really
nice leather trim here again more wood trim that's in a rich old dude's house and then we've
got really nice leather stitching there at the top and then look at the very far end of the dash
just beautiful design everywhere here in the escalade up top here we've got some pretty neat
stuff so full panoramic sunroof in the escalade and then you've got your little universal garage
door openers right here and this is just for the tailgate you've got the seats right here and then
you've got controls for the sunroof and then the shade right there in the center and then it's got
a really nice headliner here that they continue on to the sun visors and then the last little
thing is actually this bad boy oh just like all the newer chevys gmcs and cadillacs you get the
camera mirror which is really nice and it really helps on the escalade because this thing is so
long so instead of looking back and getting over all the seats and all the people you just have a
camera completely fixes that now that we're done going to the interior on this new escalade in the
extended wheelbase let's quickly get into the pricing so the new escalade starts in the
seventy thousand dollar range but you can easily very very easily i need to say that load it up to
over six figures it's not too much more expensive than the previous generation escalade but it's
still really expensive for an suv and that'll being said well let's see if this thing drives
like a hundred thousand dollars let's quickly talk about visibility before we set off here
so visibility over the hood it is a little bit of a longer hood but it's actually pretty easy
to get used to especially if you're used to driving a truck and then visibility through both
the mirrors is really good they're absolutely massive not as big as truck mirrors but still
pretty good and then visibility throughout the rest of the rear it's kind of a mixed bag so you
have really large windows which are really good but it's such a long vehicle that it kind of
hinders visibility a little bit but you've got the camera mirror you've got all the safety tech so
honestly it's solid and well let's set off well we are starting off here on the escalade and
well we'll get our little acceleration here oh and if you guys are wondering i guess that that
l is for the manual mode not the low range i thought because l usually stands for low range
in most vehicles but i guess it's the manual shift mode which is different definitely different
but initially starting off tons of torque obviously you guys heard the figures you got
420 horsepower and then 460 pound feet of torque and in terms of the gear shifts themselves
it's definitely tuned more towards the luxury side so the gear shifts aren't like crazy quick
even in the sport mode and the manual shift function it's just not the quickest gear shifts
if i pop it back over into the automatic mode i'll just slow down here a little bit so we can
get another acceleration seems like it likes to be an automatic mode more than manual mode seems
like the gear shifts are a little bit quicker in the automatic mode compared to when i press the
paddle and when something actually happens with the escalade but let's talk about the other stuff
that's actually important to the escalade and that's going to be the ride quality the road
noise all that kind of stuff so from a ride quality perspective it's really smooth for an
suv now you can definitely feel stuff um compared to a lot of other suvs just because this does
have the mass of 22 inch wheels if this had smaller wheels you'd feel a little bit less but
between the air suspension and just how long this vehicle is it actually rides really smooth and
these roads down here are actually pretty beat up so it does a good job overall and then from a
noise perspective it's really good you don't hear a whole lot from the outside of the cabin i mean
even those cars driving by i don't really hear the wind noise coming from them as they drive by
i don't hear a whole lot of just wind noise in general like it does a really good job with just
insulating the cabin so if you're looking for like a luxury cruiser this definitely gets the job done
and from the handling perspective well it's a massive suv you guys kind of know what to expect
we'll get another little acceleration here yeah the torque is really good with the escalade it just
gets up and moves so well from a torque perspective and that'll actually get me into summing things up
with the escalade so first off from an exterior aesthetics perspective i think this looks absolutely
fantastic the back end looks similar to the previous generation but it's still just a really
good looking vehicle and then the interior is definitely the high point everything that you
look at and touch looks and feels really premium and then this has a ton of really cool tech i love
the fact that it has the night vision that's definitely just i haven't seen that feature in
any other car so far so i think that's really cool this comes with that from the factory the screens
are really easy to use they look really nice and so just again as like an overall package
as a luxury vehicle and then as a family hauler this just really is the pinnacle there's not
really much else that this competes against except well you've got the chevy suburban and then you've
got the yukon xl the thing about those is the interiors aren't as nice the tech isn't as nice
even though they're from the same manufacturer they just don't have all the same stuff that
the escalade has and so if you're looking for the pinnacle of just having a massive family hauler
that you can also tow with and all that kind of stuff that's where the escalade is going to be
now that's going to sum things up for our video on this 2021 cadillac escalade with the longer
wheelbase and again a huge shout out and thank you to armor max for giving me some time with
this escalade check out their website in the description below i'll see all of you in that
next video
