Alright folks this is Jason with the Primal Outdoors channel and today I'm here with Steve
Harrell.
He is with Drifter Trailers.
He is the one that designed and built the awesome trailer that I've been using on the
channel for the last few months and he's here in Oregon right now delivering a new trailer
to one of my subscribers and we're going to do a little walk around.
Now I admit we're going to go a little bit fast because Steve is hot to get out of here
because Hurricane Dorian is coming down on where he lives and he needs to get all the
way back across the United States and take care of a few things but I do want him to
spend some time showing you guys a little bit about this trailer because it is quite
a bit different than my trailer and it has some really awesome features.
So thanks for taking a couple more minutes here Steve.
So this is the Gen 3 so what is the major kind of differences between that and mine?
I think the biggest difference in the Gen 3 is the Primal Outdoors edition, short little
trailer, not many amenities.
This one has a nice storage box on the front, two doors, entry door on the right and the
left, timber and suspension, a nice heavy duty battery set up, dual battery set up actually.
Just a much better equipped trailer.
Built the same quality just better accessories.
Better accessories.
So let's just kind of go a couple of things.
Like you said you got the storage box on the front and then you got a slide here and Linda
has got her fridge here and then so the things that I noticed, another thing that I noticed
on the front of the trailer different than mine is you got two jacks mounted on the front.
Now one of them is on the back right now but the whole point of that is so that you can
level the, stabilize and level the trailer in the back right with the two jacks.
You still actually do have the regular tongue jack so I really like this.
This is something that I really like and kind of wish that I had on my trailer because this
is really nice.
You can put it back on the back of the trailer.
There's two places on the back and you can just crank up the whatever side of the trailer
you need to be able to level it and that makes it super quick and easy and I really like that.
Now inside here you also have her propane tank, right?
Right, on this one there's 12 volt power, a light and the propane tank is mounted inside.
And then you got the propane tanks mounted in there and then you actually have propane
lines running throughout the trailer to some different spots like you got a quick connect
over in the back and is there any other places where there's propane?
One inside for her.
The Mr. Buddy heater?
Mr. Buddy heater.
Okay.
Right.
So that's really nice.
Now another thing that I noticed different about my trailer is that you also not only
have the window that I have but you got a window in the door.
Right.
That's an option on it.
Yeah.
And the owner of this trailer wanted the option.
Yeah.
The windows.
And I really like that because you can open the door and it has a screen.
Right.
And then that way if you got bugs, you know, out you can tap the door shut but still have
that and that's kind of where my head is and so it's nice to get some fresh air right to
my face.
On this trailer you have what?
It's an eight by?
Yes.
An ARB 2500 awning.
Okay.
It's about eight feet long.
Yeah.
So this is a little bit bigger than the awning I have on mine which I kind of like too because
it does a better job of covering the whole span of the trailer so I really like that.
Now another major feature that is new on this trailer or different on this trailer, not
really new, but different on this trailer is he's got this nice little rack on here
that has the ARB awning on it but then it's got this, I'm not really sure what to call
it, but a piece of exoskeleton that comes down and then you got Rotopax mounted on the
side and I think that looks really nice.
Here's one of the propane, quick connects on the propane so it makes it really nice.
You can see Linda's got her little gas stove here and then it just quick connects right
into there, makes it super easy and there's a shut off valve right there.
Also notice you got some lights here and these can be turned on from a switch in the back
and then you also have a porch light and that can be turned on and off by a switch I believe
is right here.
So you have porch light on and off.
That's really handy.
Anything else that I'm missing out here Steve?
You still got, oh you got steps.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah.
So you got removable steps, there's just a pin here.
These can slide completely out but this is kind of really nice for you to build a purchase
and get up into your trailer and getting out of the trailer.
I really do like those and kind of another little feature I might wish I had on my trailer.
On this one I have aluminum wheels also.
Yeah, nicer wheels than what I've got on my trailer and also timber and suspension.
There's timber and suspension on this trailer, not the axle that I have.
Is again, this is a four by eight so it's a little bit smaller.
The main area of the box is the same, just shorter this way, right?
Right, yeah.
Everything's the same except for the width.
Except for the width.
Now one thing too that you have, because of the battery, you set her up with solar and
shore power.
So that's where you got these two plugs right here.
She's got her solar panel that's right here and it just plugs right into this port right
there so that she can power her batteries when she's ... Oh, well I want to show you
guys something else right here too.
This is also where her spare tire is mounted right down here because she has two doors.
My trailer only has one door so my spare tire is on the side.
Her spare tire is mounted down here so that she could have the second door.
So a lot of you guys asked on my trailer, like, oh I really think it should have two
doors.
Well two doors was always an option, it's just I chose not to have that option.
Anyways, again like my trailer, you got your regular reverse and brake lights or your brake
lights and tail lights and then you got reverse lights here, right?
And we've also got the reverse lights on the frame, same as yours.
Right.
Yeah, they kick down to the tires.
Yeah, those are really nice, I like that.
Is there anything else on the back here, Steve?
I'm missing?
Nothing.
I mean that's it.
Okay.
Same as yours.
Okay, so we'll come around to the other side here.
Now this is what I was talking about with the jacks.
So as you can see here, we got just one jack down just to kind of level this side of the
trailer.
But again, I really like this feature, super handy.
It's getting the trailer level and ready to go for you a lot faster.
You can change a tire with it.
Yeah, yeah.
Jack it up to change a tire and it makes it kind of nice.
Yeah, so if you guys didn't hear that, it was basically, if you had a tire flat on the
trailer, you could just put this jack down, be able to jack it up really easily and be
able to change the tire on the trailer.
Super handy, super handy.
I want to thank Jackery for sponsoring this video.
If you're looking for a way to charge and power your devices on your next outdoor adventure,
give Jackery's line of portable power stations a look.
I have personally been using the Jackery Explorer 240 and it has been doing a great job at powering
my off-grid office and keeping my camera equipment charged and ready to go.
For a more in-depth look at the Jackery Explorer 240, check out the link at the end of this
video.
He's got the road shower.
I've got a road shower on mine.
This is a great feature.
I really do enjoy having my road shower.
But this came, you installed this and everything with the trailer.
Anything on this side?
It's the same as the other side.
Your heavy-duty fender that you can climb on to access the road shower, to fill it.
And I really do like these fenders.
These fenders are great.
As you saw on the other side, they work great for a table.
You got this little space down here.
Just kind of makes a nice little shelf.
Also makes when you're filling the road shower a lot easier because you can just kind of
grab, put your foot right there and you have your jug of water or your hose, whatever you're
going to do to fill the road shower and step up here and be able to do what you need to
do.
And it's really, really simple.
Again, you got, like I said, you got the second door also has a window.
So that's really nice.
The only thing different on this side is the vent.
Okay.
So yeah, the storage box has a vent.
And then again, this is where you can access your propane tank.
So you got your propane tank in here.
So if you need that filled, that's where you can access.
Oh, another major difference that Linda's trailer has is it has, this is the Dometic
fantastic fan?
No, this is a max air fan, 10 speed with a remote, it raises and lowers itself automatically.
And it has, yeah.
So it has a remote, it can lift, it turns on.
You can use it in the rain and just lower it down and you can still pull air in and
out with it while it's raining.
So yeah, that's, that's really nice.
And I think a lot of people asked about that on my trailer.
All right, Steve.
So this trailer is pretty set up on the inside.
Tell us a few things that you did with this one over mine.
Okay, with, with this trailer, we have reading lights on the front wall, little led nightlights.
I mean, it makes it a nice little spot to read your book in the evenings.
We have a television on the rear wall, carbon monoxide detector.
We have one 10 shore power outlets inside, USB outlets, 12 volt outlets, a nice bolt
gauge, fold down table for, for the heater.
And the, the, the, the ceiling vent, the fan, the fan is the coolest, 10 speeds.
You can, you can cool this thing off in an instant.
The birch plywood is such a good warm feeling whenever you go to sleep at night.
You mentioned it a while back about a nice little cabin and that's what it feels like.
Yeah, that's, I think that's one of my favorite features of the trailers is that wood interior
finish.
It does give you that, you know, woodsy, uh, you know, cabiny feel that, I mean, just,
it's great to go to bed too.
It's great to wake up to and just kind of sit there and it's just, I don't know, it
just gives a lot more, um, sense of relaxation to me.
It feels safe.
Yeah.
It's not like a tent.
It doesn't flop around.
It's, it's a nice feeling.
Right.
Whenever you're inside it.
And you do have the four inch mattress, so it comes with that.
Laminate wood flooring.
Yeah.
The same laminate wood flooring that I had in my trailer and everything.
Yeah.
It's just really nice.
But the main thing here, and again, I know we kind of ran through this fairly quick,
but I just, as much as anything, I wanted you guys to see that yes, you have the Primal
Outdoors edition, which is a very base model trailer.
Get something that people could buy for a really low price.
But we also wanted you to see that that wasn't all that was offered from that Steve could
offer that you can basically come to him some ideas and some things like that and be able
to get a more outfitted trailer if that's what you really want.
So anyways, thanks Steve.
Thanks bud.
You have a safe drive back.
I hope everything is okay with you with Dorian coming in and we'll catch you guys again outside.
