Hi folks, we're just in the Lake District for a couple of days camping.
It's the middle of February so it's pretty cold. I don't know if you can see the hilltops behind
me there, there's a bit of snow on them still. I thought it'd be a good opportunity to show you
around my Oztent winter setup. So usually when we're staying put in a campsite for a couple of
days in the colder weather I'll bring this with me because we can get the wood burner in there
and it gives us some real shelter from the elements. But obviously we've still got the
rooftop tent on the Hilux and we're sleeping in there on the evening so yeah we'll kind of live
in there then jump in there on the night. But this is the Oztent RV2 model. The main body itself is
two meters by two meters so I'll give you a look around it. So the bit at the back that you can see
this bit here is the Oztent itself and we've got
Deluxe side panels fitted so the Oztents come with their own building awning here
so that kind of rolls up but you can just have the Oztent, I'll just show you that there,
these panels are zipped in so you can just have the Oztent on its own with the awning out
but we've gone for the full kit so we have the side panels and the Deluxe front panel
that all opens out as well so you can either have it as another awning or you can just roll it up
and you've got a big mesh door there. There's the other panel on the side there. Each panel has
two doors. The Oztent itself has two windows on either side which which you can open up from the
inside and then you have this other kind of large window here if it's hot you can just open that up
as well. There's some clever little ideas like you've got little pockets there to put the uh
the guidelines in as well so you know you're not having to tie things up constantly you just
roll them up and put them in there. So there's not too much room in here you can get different
model Oztents like the RV3, 4 and 5 which is slightly larger but uh this is perfect just to
get your your kind of your cooking equipment in there. I've got the toilet in in this corner,
I've got the camp kitchen there, my gas bottle, my little wood stash in the corner
and then I've got the frontier stove fitted in here as well. I've got a section of kickback
flue pipe there that silver section which you can use to put the burner under an awning and you can
kind of like get the flue to go around it but it also works in here as well just so we can get a
bit more space and I've got a flashing kit there which I've uh fitted into the awning on top so
the flue just runs out there and that works great. And then in this section you've got Tris on the
computer. I mean this is where I guess you would sleep if you were using this uh
this tent by itself you've got as I said before two meters by two meters
but we just keep the um we've got an Oztent bi-folding table there and a couple of front
runner seats so this is where we just sit on the night and get the wood burner on and just open it
up there. So we had a tagine slow cooked on the wood burner last night which was which was really
good. You've got this kind of like dampener here so once you get the burn going if you just kind
of put that up out there you can get a really slow burn and the tent just just warms up really
quickly and gets nice and toasty. But yeah so if uh if you don't fancy a rooftop tent the Oztent's
probably the next best thing it genuinely it's just as quick to pitch if you're just pitching
this bit here. They call it the 30 second tent but you can't actually get it up in about 30 seconds
so if you didn't have the awning up you would you just have this bit here you've got the two doors
they zip together and you've got a couple of vents in there as well.
So yeah it's a really uh really well designed tent. I suppose the only downside is is that it's
long you know it's two meters long so unless you've got a long vehicle you have to keep it on
top of your on top of your roof but it comes in a waterproof bag so you've got all these um
alloy struts in here which kind of prevent the tent from really being folded up so
it just comes in a big long bag but it's no big deal if you've got a if you've got a roof rack
and then we can only fit about a meter of it on ours and the other meter just hangs over the
windscreen but it's it's all good. So yeah the Oztent RV2 perfect for winter camping
or if you're just out and about in your four-wheel drive and you know where you're going to be
sleeping and you don't really want to be carrying 65 to 70 kilograms of roof top tent on your
vehicle you can just uh get one of these and be pitched up in 30 seconds it's a really really
nice uh nice bit of kit the quality is very good as well the canvas is really it's really good
quality we've used it a fair few times now in the winter and in the snow we've had heavy winds and
driving rain and it hasn't leaked and it's uh it's really really stable as well because of the
frame inside you know just the wind isn't much problem for it so yeah there you have it.
