Hi, I'm Samira with Family Recipes Unfolded. Today I'm going to make burek, a traditional
dish from Bosnia, where my family comes from. Burek is a special kind of pastry,
usually filled with minced meat, but the secret lies in the dough. Of course you can also use
vegetarian or vegan fillings like cotton cheese or potatoes, but then you don't call it burek
anymore. So today I'm going to call my mother-in-law and ask her for her recipe. Let the cooking begin!
Hey mom! Hi Samira!
In any case, it has to be a soft dough that doesn't stick to your hands and when you knead it,
always be careful to add a little flour so that in the end one ball comes out.
I know what goes into meat for a real burek, but how do you make a cheese filling?
In that filling goes either young cheese or feta, Turkish, Greek, or as we had in Bosnia,
our young cheese and kajmak. So it goes on top, it goes in eggs, salt.
I'm going to make that now, as you told me, so I'll see you later.
Okay, go make it and I'll make something too.
Hey mom, I'm done, I did it.
Oh great!
I have a lot of advice and recipes.
Great, but look what I made.
Wow, you made a potato.
Wow mom, I would love to come and try it now.
Just make it.
I would love to try that burek.
Enjoy!
Thank you, bye!
Bye!
