Another day, another hyperadobe course layer. Or two. Plus conduit piping for various inlets and outlets - and some amazing new sifters made by a viewer :)

Welcome back on how to build a pump house with Johnson and Ashley. Day 163
So today guess what we're doing
We're laying more earth bags. Yay. And going up another couple of layers. Mm-hmm. We're gonna have to put our conduit in at some point
Probably another layer or two. Yeah
All right. Yeah. Hey, listen, it's simple. Yeah, it's real simple today. Earth bags. Mix that dirt put it in the bag
Yeah, that's it
All there is to this the whole thing so can we get started I'm ready. All right
Mayor jet
We'll rock paper scissors. Okay, this is not slow
Johnson said we had to slow down because he can't keep up so
All right, we're back from lunch
Doing one more course. I think
We're gonna put in some PVC sleeves for this one
Because we're we don't really need to go too much higher because we're gonna go up in the back that tank
we're already almost at that level, so
We're gonna
Cut those pipes and get them in. That's what we're doing
Welcome back to tiny shiny Tuesday today. We've got to give a shout out to one of our viewers
His name is Troy with Spartan development and he built us two of the most amazing
Sifters we have ever seen. All right, so the first one is huge, obviously
you know that we've been using like these little metal screens and like
Zip tying stuff to them and trying to prop them up with cinder blocks. Look at this. He built this entire thing
It's got wheels on the back. We can roll it to wherever we want. It's got this huge surface area
He even made it big enough so that if we had a tractor doing this we could take the tractor bucket and just dump it
Right on it and sift the dirt and it's also high enough so that you can fit a wheelbarrow or something underneath it to catch
Most of it if you don't want to dig it out and we can also change out the screen very easily
He's just put in a couple of screws and a plate to hold it in place
We want to get a tighter one or a more open one
We just pull those screws out and put it on
This is the second sifter and this will come in very handy when we start doing final plaster again
It's got this whole frame here and then it's got a
rollable cart so you can put your dirt in here and then you can shake it to sift it and then
Lock it into place. You can dump off whatever you've got
This one also has the panels that are removable so you can put whatever screen
However, fine a mesh you want on top of it
And it's tall enough so that you can roll a cart or a wheelbarrow gorilla cart
Whatever you want underneath it so that it can just fall straight down into it
So from all of us here at the tiny shiny homestead, we just have to say thank you so much for building these
They're amazing and we can't wait to use them
It's gonna save us a ton of time, especially as we get into the house build now, let's get back to the pump house
Okay, so the basic idea because people have been asking where's the door? There is no door
What will happen is you'll be able to to open one side of the roof or both sides
Kind of swing up and you just be able to like step into it, right if you need to make any if you need to
work on it, so
The other thing we need to do is we need to provide a way to get a pressure a pressurized a pressurized
spigot or hose bib out the front here, so
That hole down there will be a gravity feed. This one will actually be connected to the pump and it'll be pressurized
So that's just big enough to run our pipe and our hose bibs through then over here we're doing
Electrical stuff. So we're gonna have the solar wires coming down and we will have some wires running some lights inside the coop
so those are gonna come here come down and go through and then we're also going to have a
Switch on the outside of this pump house if we ever need to turn off
The water pump in case of emergency like a leak or something like that
Or maybe we're going away for like a trip and we just want to make sure
It doesn't malfunction and like pull all the water out of the tank
It's an easy way to just come over and flip it on. So we're just gonna place those while we lay this next bag and then
We'll be good to go. Why do you think you would need to flip it off?
Next hurry
He's gonna go slower
Is it
No
Okay. Well, yes, I just keep sweating. Yeah, we got two more courses done today
Put our sleeves in for electric switch
One hose. Yep. Yep
Pressurized that's the difference. So I think babe. I'm pretty sure
That the front is done and we're just a couple bags and slant them down
I think that's the plan. Okay, maybe gonna close or we'll go up one more. I don't know. Who knows. Nobody knows
If I go up one more, you're gonna have to have cinder blocks to like step into it. Yeah
I know which is fine. Yeah, just won't look nice. Maybe we should make a
Cement step a hyper W step. It's messed up. There's some stuff. You know, we'll figure it out
Right now we're just really tired and we want to go get in the stock tank
Guys, we got a stock tank like three weeks ago. We haven't got to use it. There's been no time
So anyway, yeah, maybe
All right, I'm so hot I want to sit here and talk some more. Oh, yeah
Hey, guess what we will see you tomorrow we will see you soon
next time
