Good afternoon MWM family! Today’s video I wanted to update everyone on my master bedroom. I have done a few updates since my last tour that I filmed over a year ago. Everything discussed in todays video is down below in the description box. Enjoy!
Hi guys and welcome back to my channel.
If you are new, welcome.
My name is Hannah and I'm the mom with muscle and in today's video we are doing a updated
master bedroom tour.
So if this is something you're interested in watching, just keep on watching.
But if you haven't already though, be sure to hit that bell button for every time I upload
a video.
I would love to have you over at mom with muscle on Instagram without further ado, let's
get into this video.
So I have not done a master bedroom tour in about a year and I have done some slightly
updating here in my bedroom that I wanted to share with you guys.
I'm going to do my best to link everything down below.
I'm going to kind of go over everything and show you guys my bedroom and what it currently
is looking like.
But before we get into today's video, I do want to just stress my style.
I get this question a lot.
Like what do you categorize yourself as when it comes to your style?
And I used to categorize myself as a modern farm and the more that I researched that particular
style, it became apparent it was not my style.
When people think of modern farm, I think they think Magnolia home, they think of home
goods and Hobby Lobby kind of kitschy farmhouse signs and that is not my style at all.
I have no signs.
So I have done a lot of research to kind of honing in on what the heck my style is, how
can I best describe it and it is rustic luxury and I, it is my style to a T. So I'm going
to read you guys the definition so you have a better understanding of what rustic luxury
is.
If this is the first time you are hearing of it, rustic luxury is defined as best achieved
by incorporating a variety of natural materials such as exposed wooden beams or stone fireplace
with luxury pieces such as metal or crystal.
The key to this look is to either make the rustic or the lux elements dominant rather
than splitting them 50 50.
So when you look at my home, I have more predominantly modern type pieces with hints of rustic.
So hints of vessels, vintage vessels, vintage dough bowls, that type of thing.
So I'm so excited that that is my style and I'm going to show you guys my bedroom and
how rustic luxury plays within this space.
So let's get it.
All right, here's the first aspect of my bedroom.
This is a 90 inch herringbone dresser from Restoration Hardware in the gray oak.
Now I have paired with it a 60 inch round lucent mirror from Restoration Hardware as
well.
And then I'll get closer to show you guys the details.
Now these sconces are from Amazon and no, they are not hardwired.
All I did was I just a rechargeable light bulb in the sconce shade there.
That way it gives the illusion that I have hardwire sconces, but they are not.
And I think adding these sconces made such a huge difference to elevating the space and
bringing in that layered lighting look.
So starting on the left, this is a vintage vessel with a faux orchid plant that I put
in it.
And I think we are definitely mixing a luxe with rustic element here.
You're getting that luxe feel through the orchids paired with a rustic vintage and ward
item from the vessel.
To the right of that, I have a beautiful brass tray with a massive geode crystal that I got
from HomeGoods.
And then to the right of that, I have two of my designer coffee table books, my Vitruvi
diffuser with my, of course, Love Affair essential oil, a picture of our family, and
then I have these beautiful wings that I got from Z Gallery years ago.
I get questions all the time on this, but those are from there and I just love how it
looks.
Now, the olive tree is from Restoration Hardware as well as the pot that it is in.
This is a discontinued tree, which is so unfortunate because it is the most realistic tree that
I've ever found for an olive.
It's just such a great muted green.
I love how realistic this tree looks.
I know a lot of people might be over the olive tree, but this tree is one of my favorites.
I have three of them.
I absolutely love them.
They are massive in size, height, and the color is just perfect.
So I closed the blinds because it was casting a weird shadow on this next portion of my
bedroom, which is a new updated look.
I used to have the Restoration Hardware Jacob chairs in the same gray that my dresser and
nightstands were in with a white perennial fabric, but I switched it out for these black
boucle swivel chairs from CV2, just bringing in more of that black element because I do
like to do kind of an 80-20 where I have more predominant black items in my bedroom.
The side table is from Restoration Hardware.
This is from the kid and teen section.
It is in kind of just a brass drum with a couple coffee table books, a beautiful white
pot from Target, and some Hobby Lobby stems, but I absolutely love these chairs.
They are so comfortable.
I love that they swivel and they just add just that pop of black that the bedroom was
craving for a little bit of contrast and dimension.
So this is my side of the bed, and I have my Home Depot lamp that is in black glass
base.
I have a few of my designer coffee table books, one of my geode crystals, the marble dish
that I got from Amazon with a burning candle, and of course a family picture.
The nightstand is a 40-inch herringbone nightstand that matches my dresser, also from Restoration
Hardware.
And one thing I do want to stress, I think this is a beautiful area to kind of bring
in those more sentimental items like family pictures or family heirlooms.
I think this is the best place to put it.
The next portion of my bedroom is of course my bed, starting with the pictures above.
These are from Restoration Hardware.
This is the rustic element.
These are Belgian cutting boards.
They have so much texture, so much warmth, and they bring such a beautiful vibe to break
up all the modern pieces.
The bed is from RH as well.
This is the Modena non-tufted shelter bed in a 48-inch headboard in white perennial
fabric.
I have the Casa Luna linen bedding with a gray quilt at the end, the Casa Luna chunky
blanket.
The three light gray pillows in the back are from Casa Luna as well.
The two in front of that are mud cloth pillows that I got from Etsy, and the light brown
one is from Target.
So I'm mixing luxe, mixing colors while still keeping it rather neutral.
But I love the gray because it brings in the color from the pictures that are above our
bed.
There's a lot of gray in those and a lot of warmth, so I love that.
So one of the newer items that I have added to my bedroom is bringing this skinny bench
to the end of my bed as if it was like a fabric bench.
I wanted to play off bringing in the warmer tones that are from my pictures above my bed
to the end of the bed, again, bringing in this warmer brown, and this is that more vintage
rustic feel, but playing it off of my modern bed in modern elements.
And I just love the way this looks.
It's not gonna be a look for everybody, but you guys, I just, this makes my heart so warm
and so cozy.
This bench is from a vintage shop here in San Diego.
It is my go-to shop, and I just love the way this looks.
Now I get questions all the time on this rug, and unfortunately, I have not been able to
find it.
This was a major HomeGoods score.
It is in a hand-woven rug.
It has got a very, very muted pattern.
You can almost barely see it, but it's cream with light gray kind of oriental pattern.
But this rug totally does just ground my bed in a space.
This is an 8x10 rug, and my bed is a king for reference.
I do have it only halfway through my bed instead of bringing it all the way up to the nightstand.
That way I didn't lose too much of the oriental pattern there on the rug.
This is a 48-inch canal round chandelier from Restoration Hardware in black iron.
I have two of these.
I love them so much, but I was able to find a dupe.
So if you are on the hunt for something like this or something similar, check the description
box below.
This is my husband's side of the bed, and I honestly wanted to keep it realistic for
you guys.
He does have his little drop station where he has rings, his glasses, as well as his
Apple Watch charger, but it's those same Home Depot lamps in the glass base with the black
iron.
I then have his reading books there to the right, a pair of marble links, and a brass
vase with some olive branches to bring a little bit of color in.
Now behind that vase is our home Alexa, which she will probably go off.
So that's just a way to kind of hide those items because we do use her on a daily basis.
So this is my husband's side of the bed.
The very last aspect of my bedroom is our curtains.
These are a blackout curtain from Restoration Hardware paired with a black iron rod from
Home Depot.
Now the only reason why I went with RH for these, there's obviously plenty of cheaper
options was I was working for the company at the time and got them at a really great
price.
But these are a blackout linen, and this is the final look for my bedroom.
Okay guys, and that is it for today's video.
I hope you guys enjoyed coming into my updated master bedroom tour and learning my new style
of rustic luxury.
But I hope you guys enjoyed, and until next video, I love you so much, and we'll see you
then.
Peace.
