Shabby Chic Journal (Tags) #3

I thought we'd do some tags today and to go with the journal I'm making. I need a few more.
All I've done here is cut up a file folder. Thank you very much file folder everybody.
That's absolutely amazing because I love them and I'm going to do some more
work with them because I just love it. So I've just coffee stained one. Was this,
no this wasn't a file folder, sorry this was a piece of card because I'd done three pieces of
card for my faux file folder. So I thought I'd just cut that up. Now I've got the real file
folders which is amazing. Thank you very much. So I thought I would, I'd just coffee stain them as
normal and I stamped them with exactly the same stamp as what I used on the background as the
other one which was Tim Holtz. I'm sure it was the Tim Holtz one. Yeah that one there. Okay
there's sort of like French bits and that. I've just done that around. So this one was just
hanging around so I thought well I'll just cover it and do something with it because I've practiced
you know stamping on it or just done something with it. So I thought I would use a bit of
Victorian Velvet on here. So I am going to do what I normally do. Yeah I quite like that colour.
That's nice. I didn't want it too pink. Just a little bit of water and start adding just a bit
in like that. Okay I'll most probably go around the outside with this one instead of using
coffee stained, not coffee stained, tea dye distressing. I'll do something different today.
Okay I've got a new heat tool too which is one that shouldn't blow it around so much.
This is the Ranger one. It's slower than the other one but it doesn't blow everything around
so that's what I wanted. I mean I'd use the other one if I wanted to get that effect but I prefer it
if it's you know I've got more control and I can talk over it as well which is great because the
other one is so loud. Yeah it's nice that Victorian Velvet. I like that. Okay they're
all nice and dry. I've continued and put a few bits together. Yes I did add a bit of blue
from this one here but I didn't spray it. I puddled it like I do usually. I think I've
got one with none on. Okay this one here I saved. Right so people are struggling with the spray so
spray it. I spray off. Okay you can add a little bit of water if you want. Okay just
dilute it a little bit. If it's strong. This one isn't but you see I don't want much blue. Just a
bit. There we go. Not so vibrant as the other because I didn't water that down so put that in
as well and there we have it done. Actually I'll just mop that up as I do. They do come in handy
those bits of paper and to dry. That didn't shake it did I? I was going to say it's not very
sparkly. The other one's quite shimmery so as you know the sprays break down don't they? There we
go. That's got a bit of mica in. There we go. The other bits didn't have any mica in and dry that
off. So yeah you know just spritz them onto your work thing and you know play around with them
there if you seem to have more control. If you squirt straight on they can they can look a bit
odd and if you don't like it again get the gesso out and go over it again and then over with your
stamping honestly and then you create another layer which sometimes you can end up with some
really great results. Okay yeah so that's another way of doing it. Not over powering at all.
Right so what did I do with that one? Now that's my fabric one. So this these bits and pieces I've
got from my Sweet Rose and I think I'm using some of the Paris but that's in my other signature.
This one's more my Sweet Rose plus the Shabby Chic one. Right if there's any more that I've
used I will link in the description box. Okay because I sort of quite fancy mixing a few of
my kits around at the moment just for a change really because I think I've done a Paris journal
and I did I sort of wanted some of the elements out of that but not all of them so I'm not quite
sure where these come from. It was like a topper page with like so many of those in and those
together. I think either my Sweet Rose or the Shabby Chic one. I say I can't remember.
All right I think in the future I'm going to do maybe after this one after doing a few I'm doing
a sort of couple of journals from the Shabby Chic and then I might go I quite fancy doing
the Iris one Iris kit so what I might do when I'm going to do that series on that I shall let you
know so you can either go and print it or go and buy it if you want to follow along with me which
I thought would be quite interesting to do something like that with you all. So anyway
that's what I've done I've cut all my bits out and this one ah this is gonna I'll do this one first
pocket type thing the tag inside and then I'll decorate that tag
so that's going to go there so we need to ink up that and I actually need to reinforce that as well
I might put a bit of music paper on the inside there just to reinforce it
because this is only thin paper I quite fancy that ripped up there
music paper I should have some here I only want a bit so but that's too much of a bit isn't it
I'm not going to reach I'm going through my box first yeah that might work as well that's quite
nice so I'm thinking of a contrast there so I look quite nice that would add a bit of interest
yes kill two birds with one stone there I don't kill any birds but it sounds really
awful doesn't it when you say that now and I'm going to stitch around that now
to form my pocket oh and it's hot today so yes the glue escapes it doesn't like hot weather
okay and I'm not using no I'm not using black I'm going to use cream now change so I'll just
go ahead and do so stitch around that and then I'll just go and stitch around that as well
for a base okay and then we'll have to come up with something with that picture because she's
beautiful wasn't she she's used quite a lot there in journals but I do really like her she's lovely
okay that one's all done just stitch around those two and while I was at the sewing machine I got
all my little raggedy bits out because I'm gonna use some of that a bit of darker pink with the
one I'm using so that's all from you know threads from saris and things like that I
collect them all got a big bag full all different colors and I feel like I need to just stamp a
bit more on that one now okay so it's sort of disappeared which is again fine what am I using
uh versifying this time because I'm not adding no more water or anything so that should be fine
being versifying sounds terrible doesn't it I don't want it yeah see that just a bit
sort of okay that's all I wanted right I've got loads of ink on here so let's get a bit
something paper I usually got some ready here we go some here we have an envelope
what's that oh there's a doily here let's just do it on there makes change doesn't it
we can incorporate that and most probably use a bit of that as well
oh just found one of those they look nice doily thing oh I'm gonna have to use that at some point
yep all right okay sorry so I'm not gonna worry about the other one yet because I'm not quite
sure what I'm doing so I might be covering it so with that one I'm not covering just gonna dry that
off a little bit yep and ink around the outside shall we try a bit of pink that's for a change
oh yeah and then maybe dark over the top of that if you need to frame it because I haven't got any
darker stitching on this one that makes a change doesn't it I should have used my pink on there
I'll use one of these yeah I'm gonna get it I've got in a bit of a mess here
I really feel like I want to really tidy up and get rid of a few bits and pieces actually I've
got so much printed out oh you wouldn't believe it I like to use my printer quite regularly this
one in here I sit because it's a laser I've got loads of stuff printed out I never use it all
never so I might do up some little kits or something to let me know how you feel you know
some printed things and just put a few bits and pieces together that's already printed out some
maybe cut out some might not be and you know maybe little theme kits I'm not quite sure really or a
mixture and a bit of fabric you know I don't know just to sort of I've just got so much of it
and sometimes I mean the thing is when I look at it all the time I sort of get a bit sore you get
it's stale but when it's somebody else's it's great because I go over my sister's and I love
that oh yeah I love that and I love that bring it all home and I do use it mine stuff sits in the
corner oh dear what are we like okay where are we then I have no idea oh yeah remember
waffling on I thought I'd use just make a little raggedy up a few bits are hanging around
I'm going to put that darker pink in there as well right so there's just a little bit of
net really and I'm going I could do with a tiny bit more than that is a bit little isn't it
I think I just want a bit of white on the top okay and then I'll stitch straight along there
if you're gluing it just glue it down these aren't very easy to glue down I will say
that's why I tend to stitch them but you might have more patience than me
okay just stitch that together once and then down the other and here we go so I'm going to
stick that down I was going to use a pink flower but I had a look at it and I think it's a pink
overload so I'm going to use these ones but they've got a big lumpy bit in the middle and
I'm going to take that out and just use a flower so I think that looks lovely this thing here is
awful it's too bulky I was going to show you what I mean I mean the pink I just think it's
too much pink for me it's there put a gemstone in the middle some little flowers there I might
with what I'm doing pink gems there champagne is always nice I think I've got some sticky ones of
those so that's better there we go lovely and leave that to dry and we shall do something
with the tag so we know that we can't do too much down here has to be around there
yeah it's staying quite small at the moment you don't see the bottom do we so
a bit less I think yeah we don't add too much blue that's a bit lumpy I'm just using that
I do like doing that all right okay and then we can put something up there
yeah I think that's going to work let's just get gluing because you do have to think how
thick the tag is because it's going to go in that pocket you see
okay I'm going to stitch around that before I carry on I might get another bit of those
hold on a minute okay I just cut one off the panel that I've got this late here
because that was the same width so I thought that was ideal when I saw the other one I thought oh
I wondered if that would be okay the same width so and it is I keep looking at this piece of
paper I need to use it oh god how sad is that it keeps catching my eyes let's see where we can put
it another another tag perhaps and we'll have a bit of lace on top haven't we I use that one
I really find one actually I did forget to stick that down a bit and then what I do here I just
dot it around a little bit I want a little bit of movement but I'm gonna just put that down a bit
like that okay that'll flatten out need ironing really stretch that over to the edge there we go
and I thought some delicate flowers around there might look nice
and this one I'm gonna trim flush oh I'm also thinking of doing um like something for beginners
too um kits and different things sort of like back to basics I'm gonna call it so I just think
there's a lot of newbies out there that you know I think they've been getting quite intimidated by
how beautiful all the journals are and I don't want to feel that they can't they can't do it
because they can and we all start somewhere we all started somewhere and um of course you really
shouldn't judge your beginning with somebody else's middle but I know we all do but I just
thought it'd be nice just to do like back to basics you know even doing going back to when we
used to use um envelopes and tea stain not tea stain them but used to use distress stain didn't
we and make them look like leather and things like that and I mean they're lovely and I enjoyed doing
those so I sort of thought oh I might might do that as a bit of a tutorial go back I know they'll
have one but you know I'd most probably do it a bit differently now than what I did before because
I was a bit sort of um videos weren't that good
so we've all grown let's put it that way just thank god
okay didn't use any pink did I in the end
I don't need it and it's going to be hidden anyway so this is going to go
in there so it's going to get I might cut that flush then I'm just thinking it's going to um
buckle anyway so I'm going to cut that off and glue it down I do like things hanging down but
when they're in a little pocket they don't work not so well anyway I mean it's quite a basic little
tag that go in here and get it in just making sure I haven't stuck it down yeah well I could
do it so that lines up there actually I'm gonna need to take a bit off the bottom because I don't
want that if you look at that I don't want that covering that so I'm gonna have to take about a
inch off the bottom and then I'll stitch around it again yeah didn't check that you see here we
go and that is then going to sit in there yeah so I'm going to have fibers out of that one and
fibers out of that one and I quite like that all right so I'll just go and stitch around that and
then I'll get back to you okay here we go all done I'm going to put white there for a minute
because I'm using a bit of white through the journal so but that could change all right it
just depends on how much white is on the page yeah because I quite like white and cream together
so I think that sits in there nicely now all right there's my signature and again all tones
in lovely and of course we've you know got a bit of blue I haven't done um I've got a little blue
here and there so it's going to sit in there something like that that's going to look quite
nice and again that's utilizing the kit but doing something you know different with it
but still using it that's what it's about because I use see I use these papers as a lot of people
with scrapbooking papers you know because we can't get the scrapbooking papers in the UK
or yes we can but it costs us quite a lot of money we don't get coupons and things like that
and they never put anything decent in the sale it's always last year's or whatever so
you know I use this bit of paper that I've printed out exactly the same as scrapbooking
paper and digital you know other paper so you know that's what you've got to think about
right let's go to this one now and do that one last I just saw that look how that frame
I'm not going to use it like that but this is more lends itself to beginning um on a front
of a journal but that sat in there so lovely and what all that looks nice quite pink though
pink for me right so I thought the next one we could go on to
would be this tag that I was going to cover because it's already backed and everything
so might as well utilize it so that is going to go there stuck in there and I will stitch around
it again all right and we've got little pockets then I think that is going to be the tag thing
to go inside it and then I'll utilize that bit along here all right so I'll just stick that down
just to cover that up really I don't know why I put ink on it I did but I wasn't sure what I was
going to do with it so I'm just going to ink that before I go any further I'll use a bit of pink
I'm gonna just burnish that down a bit so it lays flatter
yeah and then I'm going to put a bit of the tea stain over the top just to age it a little bit
okay and stitch around well that's all stitched around all right that just fits in there without
having to trim any off so that's all right so that's all right in there and then let's use a
might be a bit tight once getting started it's okay so yeah they're going off a little bit
I could have put that there I think I'm going to might as well use that up because that's
going to annoy me that little bit yeah so keep seeing it I do feel as though I want something
hanging from there just wondering just putting that there yeah I think so using up another
little scrag end and again and put a hole in the top I'll put a re um hole reinforcer on that one
so don't journal and tag in there that's that one done so that's number two using that on there
I love that though let's put that away keep looking at it I'm just going to ink up here
in case I forget a bit of pink first and then go over with the tea stain which just ages that
and also get a pinky tone okay let's have a look so definitely stick that one down first
yeah very likely it might look a lot but hardly any's coming out of that right let's have a look
that's got to go about there hasn't it that's gonna go there something like oh there's a bit
of lace up there I reckon I'm just wondering I might have a little ticket actually to stick
out there that might work so if you've got anything that's a bit pink you've got one of
these so I'm going to cut some of that off and I'm going to put that there yep liking that so
the first thing I'm going to do is glue that down stick that one down and I'm going to stitch around
okay just cut this off so I'm actually making my eye look like it's wonky if you know what I mean
because I can't see the top of the tag just take that off yep so I'm going to stay around that and
I'll be back there we go I think we're just going to finish in time before the sun blares us out
because it's looking absolutely gorgeous I think they're supposed to this week get up to about 37
here I can't see that I don't think it's ever been that much I don't think it's been 30 actually
because living right by the sea you get all the wind don't you and things right so I'm going to
put that there like so and also this is a good way you know to put a bit of lace over the top
if you don't if you find that the pattern that you've done or the ink that you've used underneath
is too overpowering put a lace over the top it diffuses it and I quite like this one but I
fancied putting lace on it but you know that's another way if you sort of you know you're
inking and all that went a bit you didn't like it you know just do that all right a little bit
up there as well I'll tell you what though doing doing the fabric journal that I've done a while
ago that really helped me learn a bit more about fabric you know I will say because I was always a
bit wary of it before and it really did help it's a tiny weenie bit off the snippet roll I done
it's a hanging bit
without fail it's usually it is normally towards the end I will say I think it's because my
fingers get a bit sticky I should wash them really yeah especially using white
I didn't use that after all don't mind I'll come in for something else let's have a look I want to
do it yeah like that and I might cut that little bit off there put a bit in each middle there and
tiny weenie bit on each of the leaves so you hide the glue and if you want to put a little word
there I've got some Tim Holtz ones I have no idea what's in here I've had these a long time actually
I did get them when I first come out but me and Tim Holtz stuff well I hoard it I'm afraid
because I love it so much I just look at it same as his papers I haven't got all his paper pads
or anything I've got a few I just like to look at them so let's have a look oh there's quite a
few in here once upon a shore that'd be nice for a um sorry I'm miles away gosh I'm wandering now
challenge the world oh that's me um beach journal just that reminded me what I was talking about
that is me though I tend to challenge the world
I'm not very good at spelling either I dream of the stars that glitter
that's quite nice everyday words making sure a little bit glue on that that's fine
good fortune is quite nice ink around them and put some little bit of glue on you can go in there
okay I think that's all right now oh we've got a last series of Poldark oh no how awful I can't
believe it's going to finish I look forward to that every year and this one I think I'm going
to use a grommet on that one okay well that's worked out all right just need some bits and
pieces up there I can use a bit of that again I think and always add a bit of pink to it or
something a bit later on but these don't take they're not too bulky in your journals
that's why I like using them just make sure the edges now are stuck down okay so what have we
got I haven't put anything on the top of that one yet which I might now just for just to take
because I'll take a photo now and put this on um Instagram and it's also sometimes I use the photo
for the beginning of the video okay that's what we've done today
quite shabby chic and I hope you enjoyed that and I'll see you soon bye
