LEGO Monster Fighters 'The Swamp Creature' Set # 9461 🎃 - Minibuild Monday Episode #32
What's up guys, it's BrickLover18 here today with another episode of Mini Build Monday.
Because we're in October now, I thought it'd be really fun if we started taking a look
at some spookier sets leading up to Halloween.
I absolutely love Halloween and I love some of the seasonal sets that LEGO has made over
the years, and although this one that we're going to take a look at today isn't technically
a seasonal Halloween set, I wanted this one to be the first one to kick off our epic Mini
Build Monday Halloween series.
Today we'll be taking a look at set number 9461, The Swamp Creatures.
This was a set from the LEGO Monster Fighters theme, which was originally released back
in 2012, which was actually the year that I got started collecting LEGO.
This is one of the very first sets that I reviewed on my YouTube channel just about
nine years ago now.
It contains 70 LEGO pieces, was originally ages 7 to 14, and has two LEGO minifigures,
one being unique to this set.
So let's get right into it.
So first let's take a look at the two minifigures that accompany this set.
So here are the two minifigures here in a little bit close up detail, obviously one
on the left is the monster, and the one on the right is the monster fighter.
Now I believe these used to have names for them as well, each of the monster fighters,
however I couldn't find that information online, but first we'll take a look at the monster.
As you can see, he is a green sea creature, which is really, really cool.
He is a mixture of the regular LEGO green as well as the lime green, which is neat.
He's got lots of torso printing there with tons of detail, including gills and some abs
and rib cages and stuff on him.
On the bottom there on his pants, he's got some continuation of that same printing, which
just looks really cool, adds a lot of effect.
His accessory here is a spear, which looks neat, definitely wouldn't want to mess with
the monster fighter who's got the pistols, however maybe the spear will do him some good.
The head is pretty cool itself, it is a lime green head with a really creepy monster print,
and then of course the hat is a really neat piece.
It kind of looks like something you'd see in the medieval times, however it's got some
gills in it and it's all one color and looks pretty neat, and it really adds to the monster
look and the fact that he is an underwater sea creature.
On the back here is a continuation of the really cool gills as well as the rib cage
and stuff like that, and there is no printing on the back of the pants or on the side of
the torso or anything at all.
And of course in terms of the monster here, he looks like an absolute cool dude, kind
of reminds me of Elvis Presley.
He's going, he's like, yeah if I get the monster, great, if not, well, great.
His accessories are two pistols, which we will talk about a little later as well.
He looks really cool, as I mentioned he looks like Elvis Presley, but he also could be like
Bob the bounty hunter, which is really, really neat.
He's got his monster fighter attire on, it looks like a pretty heavy vest to keep him
from getting cold, except there are no sleeves, a pretty dirty shirt because he's traipsing
through the swamp trying to catch this monster, and then of course his pants are like cargo
pants with lots of pockets and everything to hold all the goodies that he's going to
need to capture the monster.
His hair is really cool, it's slicked back, and then of course his face, he's got a big
smile on, he knows he's going to catch the monster, and then these massive sunglasses
to really show that he looks like a cool dude.
Of course on the back here we've got a little bit of a continuation of the torso printing
from the front, and it just continues with that best pattern.
Now that we've taken a look at the two minifigures in more detail, we'll take a look at the two
other parts that come with this set, the base and the area in the swamp here, and of course
the hovercraft.
So for starters, the hovercraft here is a pretty cool build, it doesn't use very many
lego pieces, and it is what is driven by the monster fighter, obviously, to go and get
the monster.
It's pretty cool here because it's got a wind turbine thing on the back, a propeller that
will push it along the side because it's a hovercraft that kind of floats on the water
there, which is really really neat.
We've got some clips here right at the front for the minifigure to store his guns when
not in use, and it looks like a typical hovercraft.
We've also on each side got some spotlights here, and then of course some darts that'll
actually shoot when you hold it.
So if you just hold it like this, hit the trigger here, boom!
And it shoots.
Really really cool.
It comes with two of them, which is neat.
It's got the brown chair right up top here for the minifigure to sit on and steer the
hovercraft, and then of course it's got two levers here that are used to actually steer
the hovercraft and move it along.
We'll put the minifigure on it here so you guys can get a little bit of a glimpse of
what it may look like, but of course he would actually use his hands to drive, and the pistols
would be down here so it can drive all along and capture the monster at the bog area here.
So the bog here is where the monster would actually sit and enjoy, where it would be
caught by the hunter.
It's got this really cool gem here, which I used to know like nine years ago what this
was for.
It was part of the Monster Fighters theme.
I believe each set had one of these.
I could be mistaken now because that was so long ago and I haven't kept up with this
theme that's retired a long time ago, but it also comes with a fish here, which is neat.
It looks like the monster is right about to eat it, and of course comes with a green frog
here as well, which is really, really cool.
And then continuing on with the swamp look, it looks like it's in a pile of mud here,
and it's got some seaweed coming out the back.
Now as I mentioned, this theme wasn't entirely based on Halloween, however the monsters definitely
give it a little bit of a Halloween vibes, and I think that's why this theme and everything
was so well-received by LEGO fans because everybody loves a good holiday, everyone loves
a good monster, and this set certainly did have a ton of fun aspects to it, and this
theme was really cool in itself.
Anyway guys, thank you so much for checking out today's video.
I really hope you enjoyed checking out this LEGO Monster Fighter set all the way from
2012.
Of course, set number 9461, the Swamp Creature.
This was one of very few Monster Fighter sets that I actually had in my collection, so I'm
really excited to still have it built, still have the parts assembled today, and rebuild
it every Halloween season because it's absolutely a blast.
Anyway guys, thank you so much for watching.
If you did enjoy, please don't forget to leave a like, comment, and of course subscribe,
and I'm looking forward to seeing you here in the next video.
