Hey, I'm David from Campbell Haasveld.
I'm Chris.
Nice to see you, David.
Nice to meet you, Chris.
Hey, Chris, your basement's come a long way since you framed these walls.
Oh, it's been a lot of hard work, and we spent a lot of time down here, and we're looking
forward to enjoying the space now.
I'm sure you are.
Hey, you know, since you got drywall up, the next step should be we'll put some trim up
around the windows, put some baseboards on, and we'll trim out the access panels for your
plumbing.
Sounds great.
And here are the tools and supplies that you'll need.
Well, the next thing that we need to do is measure the inside of the window to prepare
for trimming it out.
Now that we've got our measurements, we need to go out and cut the boards to fit.
These boards have already been primed and painted for ease of installation.
And now we're going to use a finish nailer to secure the board.
So now we're going to repeat the process for both the left and the right side of the window.
Now that the sides are done, all we have to do is make a template for the window sill.
We'll use 8 1⁄2 by 11 sheets of paper to do that.
The first thing that I'm going to do is measure for the overhang.
And then I'm going to use my square so that I can trace that out.
And then I've decided that I wanted the trim to be 2 1⁄2 inches, so I'm going to measure
for that overhang.
I'm going to place two pieces of paper together so I can make the same cut for both sides
of the window sill.
Now I need to place all the pieces of paper on the window sill and tape them together.
And then I'll have a template.
Now I'm going to put the pieces of paper in place so that I can make the template.
I'll use some tape to put them all together, wherever there's a seam, put a little piece
of tape.
Now that we've cut the sill, let's fit it in place.
Now I'll secure it in place with our finish nailer.
Now we're going to trim out the face of the window, and I've already primed and painted
the pieces for ease of installation.
The next thing I want to do is fill all the nail holes using a generous amount of light
spackling compound.
Now we're going to use this air-powered caulk gun to fill in the gaps.
Now that we've measured and cut the baseboard, we can secure it to the wall with a brad nailer.
The next thing we need to do is finish off the water shutoff area.
We're going to do this very similar to how we did the window, except for at the end,
we're going to use this cabinet door to finish it off.
Now that the spackling is dry, I can sand it down and prepare it for touch-up painting.
Hey, great job, Chris.
The basement looks awesome.
Thanks, David.
