Should I Replace Some Of My Windows Or All At Once!?

Hey guys, Sean with American Window Concepts. Today I'm gonna answer a question that I get asked quite often, and that is should I replace all of my windows at once or am I able to replace some as I go? Let's answer that. Sometimes I'll walk into a home and they'll ask me, hey, I'm getting bids, I wanna get some windows done. Budget-wise, I'm not sure if I can afford to get the whole house done or if I am able to do just some projects at once. Maybe I wanna do the west wall or the south wall. And my answer is you can do basically whatever you want. It's gonna be a little bit more money in the long term if you do it in phases. So that's just one thing that I would hope people are advising you on that, yeah, there's gonna be the trip charges and you gotta take a couple of guys and put a truck in service and send them to your house. And I mean, that's gonna take all day. As a business, we have to account for all that. So that's just something that I would tell a customer, like, yeah, you can definitely do it like that, but that's not good for everybody. Some people will say, hey, I just wanna pay cash, but I just wanna do it in little blocks. So if you have specific windows in mind that are the most problematic, usually it's like master bedrooms or the kids' bedrooms. Sometimes it's the front living room that's facing the street. These are the windows that are, people are like, I really wanna get these ones done first. I mean, they take priority. Maybe the sliding patio door because it's not locking properly. The old one, it's just really rickety and you're exhausted of it. Some places will say, you know, they have a minimum requirement to do any kind of work on your house. So that's a question you might wanna ask the salesperson or the company if you're phoning in people or you're emailing. Ask, what's your minimum? For us, it really just kinda depends. You know, if you're in the general close proximity, we'll do one or two windows. I mean, we'll have to lump that in with other jobs, but that's okay. But doing a whole window job at one time, there's a benefit to that. And the benefit is you get the immediate impact, the feel of how these windows are changing the dynamic of your house, the look, the feel, and the sound, obviously. You can get a really good feel for the whole house being tightened up if it's really, really windy outside and you got these brand new windows and they're super high performance. You really don't feel it. You really don't hear it. It's kinda crazy. Like I have, you know, some windows in my house and it was windy the last three days and trees are whipping and you really couldn't tell until you opened the slider door and I was like, whoa, I mean, you can really hear that. And the trees are moving about pretty intense. So you do get a really good sense of how tight the envelope of your home becomes by replacing everything at once. When you're doing some windows, you do get an idea of what you're getting. So I guess, really, it just does come down to your budget, what you're comfortable doing. That's really about it.
