Country inside a Country inside a Country (!!)
Our plan is that we're going to an exclave inside an exclave.
A country inside a country inside of a country.
Where are you from?
This is the Sultan of Oman.
Get our UAE flags and everything.
And this is the Sheikh.
Hello guys, welcome back to the channel.
Today we're in Dubai and we're going on another adventure.
I have with me Anusha.
The one and only, the famous Anusha.
I'm not famous, I haven't posted for like two months.
It's okay, she's still famous to me.
And today we're going on a road trip.
We're going on an adventure up to the north of the United Arab Emirates.
Okay.
To Fujairah.
Yeah, let's go.
This is the special gold metro pass.
We get special seats with it.
With these passes, you get to sit at the front of the train.
You get a great view.
I want to show you guys.
Discovery guns.
The next station is Discovery guns.
Okay, so we've got the car.
They even gave us a free upgrade.
That's very, very nice.
Okay.
Do you need a ride?
You're so beautiful.
Hello, madam.
You look so beautiful.
We want to give you a ride.
Can I take a little?
Please, please.
I want a hitchhike.
A baby, a baby.
All right, we're picking up Akansha as well.
Akansha.
Actually, Akansha doesn't either quite know what our plan is for today.
We just told her that we're going to Fujairah, which is kind of true.
Are we actually going to Fujairah?
We're actually going.
Our plan is that we're going to an exclave inside an exclave.
A country inside a country inside of a country.
Oh, that Oman one.
Yeah, yeah, that'll be fun.
Okay, let's go.
Okay, so now we're entering what?
Into the enclave.
It's all a dirt road to get all the way out here.
It's snuggled up inside the mountains.
Okay, so right now I just stopped because we entered Oman officially.
So we're from the United Arab Emirates.
There's a circle of Oman and then inside of it then is UAE.
What's your name?
Mustafa.
Okay, and you?
Ali and Farhan.
Farhan.
Okay, Ali.
Ali, where are you from?
Pakistan.
Okay, let's see your best throw, Mustafa.
Okay, we're heading out.
See you guys later.
Goodbye.
Because we go back.
YouTube channel?
I have famous YouTube channel.
Like what's the name?
My name is Brayden Drevlo.
Okay, and now you can tell by all the flags around us
that we are officially inside the United Arab Emirates.
We're back because this is the Emirates.
We got some of our flags up here
and this is the police station and everything all with UAE flags.
And now this is the rest of the road that would keep bringing us back.
I'm gonna park here because I want to show you guys.
So as I said, this is a small part of UAE inside of Oman.
So this is the road that keeps going back into the part around Oman.
And you can tell because this is the sultan of Oman.
He's been in power for quite a while.
But so Oman over here, back into the UAE.
I'm gonna go back in in just a sec because I want to explore just a bit more.
But as we enter, there's a big photo of the Sheikh of the UAE, Sheikh Zayed.
So we'll go to that real quick and then we'll go check out the little village.
And like I said, this is the sign to get back into the UAE.
Get our UAE flags and everything.
And this is the Sheikh.
The lights are flashing.
I'm not quite sure why they're flashing.
But we're gonna go into the village.
We're gonna check out what normal life is like here.
My flashers are on.
So the real quick explanation as to why this place exists.
As you can see, we're up in the middle of mountains,
out kind of in the middle of nowhere.
So this is kind of close to the Omani border.
And what happened is back in the 40s or so,
when they were kind of splitting this area up,
this area is kind of at the crux of the Sheikhdom of Fuzairah,
the Sheikhdom of Ras Al Khaimah of Sharjah,
and then also the Sultanate of Oman.
So back in about the 40s,
when they were trying to kind of draw lines in this area,
the British were kind of part of this
because the UAE officially became a country in 1972.
That's their Independence Day, at least.
And so kind of in that time before that,
they were trying to figure out where the lines were.
And so this little village, it's called Nawa.
And so this is Nawa.
And then the Omani part is called Ol Nawa.
And so all of the four Sheikhdoms,
the three Sheikhdoms and the Sultanate,
they sent representatives out here to come and ask them,
the people here, they met with the old Bedouin leaders,
the chiefs, and basically asked them,
hey, where do you want to join?
Do you want to be part of this Sheikhdom,
a part of the Sultanate?
And in the end, the people just in this small village
in the center here, Nawa,
they decided that they wanted to join the Emirate of Sharjah.
And then the people, the chiefs in the outer area
that live up in the mountain part,
they decided that they wanted to be part
of the Sultanate of Oman.
I think there was something to do with water
or one of the Emirates or something,
they promised to help get water access
or something up here.
So that's what caused this weird little border.
But so a small part of UAE, Oman, inside bigger UAE,
and then the Omani border is not too far away from here.
So a really fascinating place.
I love these kinds of borders.
I think they're so cool.
Okay, so now we're up at the top of the village.
Up here where it's a little bit flatter,
we have a football pitch over here
and also a playground for the kids.
But it's a very small village.
There's only, I heard about 40 houses.
These are the nicest houses up here.
There's about five houses up there
that have a nice view over the valley.
And this is the small village over here.
It's fascinating how it's just a small little outpost out here.
I mean, up here, you can see there's like one cell tower.
There is one medical facility here.
There's a fire truck that I just saw at the police station.
There's of course a police station.
And this is the village mosque over here.
So I just want to walk around in this small little place.
One of the things I like most about getting outside of Dubai
and into like the normal areas
is it becomes very Arabian very quickly.
It's easy to look at Dubai
and just think like everything is like that
where it's shiny metal, super tall skyscrapers.
And you forget about the old Arab influence
of a place like United Arab Emirates.
And you can really see that in a place like this.
There's a little cat.
And really the sign that we're back in the UAE
is that we have the Sheikh.
Hello, do you live in this village?
Madam, how long have you lived in this village?
How many people?
How long have you lived here?
Maybe like five minutes.
Come, let me show you my home.
This is my driver's car.
Your driver, not your car.
Yeah, my driver's car.
And this one is my another car, which I just use like
because I don't want to show my wealth to other people.
These are actually all my home.
But to go inside, you have to scan all of your,
you know, you have to do the entire scanning.
All the steps, I won't take you in.
So let's go back.
Welcome to my village.
Okay, so now we've arrived in Kofokan.
I think that's how you pronounce it.
I don't mean any disrespect.
It's actually a very beautiful area.
We're on the coast by like Fujairah.
So I can feel like the, it's almost like the humid kind of like heat
because coming in from the hot water, the hot salty water
coming straight in from the, I guess it's the Arabian Sea.
But I had to stop at this mosque because it looks so beautiful, doesn't it?
Like I was saying here, because we're right on the coast,
this is like technically in front of us, this is the Gulf of Oman.
And then it turns into the Arabian Sea.
So it's got like this, like you like when you're on the beach
in California or something, how you get that cool ocean breeze.
It's just like a hot, humid ocean kind of like breeze that's in the air.
Okay, so we've arrived back in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.
But the real question is, did we ever leave the United Arab Emirates?
Did we ever leave the United Arab Emirates?
Yes, we did.
We left and then we came back.
We left and then we came back and then we left and then we came back.
So to finish the night, we're getting some nice buffalo wings.
It's actually a chain from Ohio.
It's kind of like Buffalo Wild Wings.
But at Buffalo Wild Wings in Dubai, you can't get alcohol.
So only at this place can you actually get the wings and then also the alcohol.
Good night from the United Arab Emirates, again.
