Look how beautiful and stunning this is.
Hey guys, what's going on? Welcome back to my channel. So it's been a while since I've done
one of these houseplant haul videos and partly because you know I've been off YouTube for a while
but another reason is ever since I got the shop, I usually don't buy plants personally for me
anymore and even though we do a restock every other week and you know there are a few plants
I personally never own myself or they're new you know even though there is a bit of excitement it's
not the same as I was once getting when I first you know started my plant journey back in 2017
and I would create these videos and share with you guys my excitement and show off my beautiful
plant that I just got but today is one of those days because as the title suggested we got a
whole bunch of variegated monsteras and it's not just any variegated monsteras we specifically
targeted mature variegated monsteras and there's definitely something that's so different about
seeing a mature variegated monstera whether that's a Thai or an albo and it's like mature
form and it really is beautiful and stunning and takes your breath away and take my breath
I'm just kidding but seriously though I was so excited when I found these houseplants and some
of you guys are probably saying why did you get those houseplants don't you already have like a
Thai constellation or don't you already have an albo yes you are absolutely right I do have those
plants already if you guys recall my very first variegated monstera was this Thai constellation
this guy right here and you guys can see how much he's grown since you probably last seen
him on a video but I got this plant back in 2018 and it was two little babies that I got and it
grew quite a bit which is great and this technically should have been bigger considering it's been
almost like four years but I had to cut this back so many times because it got attacked by thrips
and you guys can see where I last cut it I think this was probably in the fall of 2020
and I'm probably gonna cut this down a little lower but nonetheless we got two new growth
vines off this one little vine and then another big one on the other one so all together we got
about three growth going on here which is great it's amazing you know it's not as big as it could
but nonetheless beautiful and pest free so really really happy how this one is turning out and then
my second variegated monstera was this albo that we got back in the summer of 2020 and we actually
got this as a mid cut and you guys can see where that mid cut new growth point took place and we
now have this beautiful vine I think it's got about like 10 or maybe 11 leaves or 11 nodes if
you want to consider it that way but it's not as big and it does tend to grow a little slower
you guys can even see that the new leaf here doesn't even have splits probably because I
wasn't giving it enough light but beautiful nonetheless and I'm really happy at how much
he's grown considering this was a mid cut when I first got it but the reason why I was on this
mission to get variegated mature monsteras is because whenever I have these Thai constellation
or the albo here at the plant shop I often get the question you know do you have plans to
you know carry variegated monsteras for the shop are you planning on cutting yours up
are you gonna be selling some cuttings or some nodes and my answer was always no or maybe one
day but one of the reasons why is because it is my only variegated monstera so after thinking
about it some more and especially when I talked to a few of you guys who have shared your horror
stories about buying a node or a cutting that was rotting or doesn't even have a growth point
or roots or if you did find one that actually has a growth point or roots and you did spend
quite a bit of money on it to eventually not surviving I really just said to myself you know
let's go ahead and invest in variegated monsteras you know I'm pretty good at cutting them up and
growing them into full potted plants so why don't we go ahead and do that so that's pretty much why
I was on this mission to find variegated mature monsteras that we can a have here at the shop
to continue to grow and eventually cut up but that is pretty much why I got these variegated
monsteras I'm about to share with you guys so the first one I got is an albo because I'm probably
going to cut up my albo because I do think it's in a good shape right now where it has quite a bit
of nodes I can take the top cutting maybe make like 10 little like plantlets out of the mid
cuttings put them in a prop box and so on but we do have an albo as a replacement because that's
pretty much why we found this mature one and I can't wait to show you guys hold on let's go again
I mean he's right here and you guys can see how beautiful this variegated albo monstera is
now it is in leca and that will definitely make me nervous I'm gonna be honest because I don't
usually have any of my plants in leca but after getting this I realized it's quite easy when
literally the leco balls just holds a plant in place and then you have it you know submerged
in water and just make sure you have a catch pod and then you put some nutrients um you know for
the plants like I know once a month or once every other week but nonetheless beautiful beautiful
variegated albo and it's a little too variegated to be honest where it is experiencing a bit of
the browning you guys know when there's too much white on an albo or even on Thai constellation
it does tend to brown so I'm calling this one a tri-color albo the brown the white and the green
I'm just kidding so what I'm actually doing to try and reverse a bit of the white is I actually
do have this further back in the shop there so it's not getting so much light where I'm hoping
it's gonna you know reverse eventually but if it doesn't um I do eventually want to transplant
this into like soil mix because that's what I'm comfortable with when it comes to my monsteras I
find they do better for me uh and because the previous owner put this moss pole that she has
a lot of the aerial roots already grown into it I can literally take the top cutting and start a
new plant with that and plant that in soil and then take the mid cuts and throw those in the
crop box and whatnot or if they are rooted already in the moss you know plant them directly
into moss but yeah very very beautiful and I was so excited when I found this and I was like wow
I can't believe I finally have a mature albo monstera because mine you know he's still a baby
uh but yeah so this was the first plant we got but I wanted to find another one because like I said
I'm on this mission to offer variegated monsteras to my neighborhood and my community here in Toronto
and uh you know that way everyone can have their dream plant because I know this is a dream plant
that a lot of people still have on their wish list so we found another variegated albo and
this one is even bigger and more mature than this one hold on let me go get him
here he is look how massive this one is I think this one has like 13 leaves but a lot more mature
because you guys can see how crazy the aerial roots are on this guy and it even has double
fenestration on a lot of its leaves now the unfortunate part though is the previous owner
actually was not giving a lot of light to this so the top like three leaves you guys can see
it's not as mature anymore it doesn't even have the double fenestration so it's a little unfortunate
and also the leaves are a little small also he hasn't potted up in this like I think this is
even like an eighth inch container and they told me that they cut off a bit of the roots to try and
fit in this pot this pot is way too small so he needs a repot bag so that's what we're gonna do
in our next videos we're gonna repot this guy and I don't think I want to cut this up just yet
until we repot him and give him a bit more light to kind of get this guy to produce a lot more of
those mature double fenestrated leaves again because it is very very beautiful and very stunning
but yeah like look how massive those leaves are but it's not the biggest variegated monster I have
right now so the last one we got is a Thai constellation and man I think okay I want you
guys to tell me which you would prefer this variegated albo or the Thai constellation because
this this definitely took my breath away when I first saw it hold on let me go get him
look how beautiful and stunning this is I can't see if it's actually capturing the entire plant
within the frame but it is so beautiful look how massive these leaves are like I said way
bigger than the albo over there double fenestrated and you guys can even see that there's ruffling
on the stems here just where it meets the leaf and the variegation on this Thai constellation
I actually I think I prefer this variegation over the albo partly because it really does look like
a constellation when you look at it it's just so beautiful and so stunning and oh my gosh I
I was like I can't believe I own this plant and I can't believe the previous seller Kim
she let go of it but partly because she was actually gonna go on vacation for a while and
it's got a good at home so I'm really thankful that you uh you know allowed me to uh you know
buy this plant off you and uh have it here because uh eventually you know we are gonna
cut up my original Thai constellation monstera the guy over there even though I've had that
for a while it's beautiful I have a lot of history I just can't see myself cutting this
anytime soon because it is just too stunning so we're gonna allow this guy to grow contiguously
eventually maybe put a moss pole on it but it is so beautiful and so stunning so I have this
Thai constellation right here at the front so that way it's getting as much light as possible
it can continue to grow beautifully and then we have the much more mature albo right behind it
and then the um you know the much more variegated albo all the way at the back again trying to
reduce the amount of light it gets it that way we can get a little bit more green on its leaves but
oh my god I'm so excited I'm just so excited because they're beautiful and we have the
opportunity to cut up my Thai constellation monstera in my albo make cuttings out of it
and make them available for you guys in the future but uh yeah I had to do this house plant haul
video because there's no way I wasn't going to share the beauty of these mature variegated
monstera so comment below and let me know what you think of them hopefully you guys
enjoyed this little video until the next one we'll see you guys soon peace
