Reykjavik is the largest city in Iceland and is the country's capital. Astounding views from the Blue Lagoon, Rainbow painted streets and even the world's largest colony of breeding Puffins!! Reykjavik was the first city to be settled in dating way back to 874. This city has so much history and culture to offer anyone who is willing to travel to the capital of Iceland!
At the deepest point of only 4.7 feet the Blue Lagoon is one of the most visited places in Iceland! Scorching at a whopping 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit) a few hours to hang around is plenty! With the smallest package they offer you can enjoy one free drink, a mud mask and as much time as you feel appropriate. Tip: Book online ahead of time to secure a spot. It does fill up very quickly and its busiest time of the day is around 3 Pm.
Pingvellir National Park: Being the most visited place in Iceland, you can get er done in under 3 hours! With views ranging from Waterfalls to gorges it is well worth a visit! Bring a pair of hiking boots and a warmer sweater/sweatshirt as it does get windy at times.
I felt a very special appreciation to this country and the experience it provided me! 5 full days was just enough to see the tip of the iceberg. (Pun Intended) With hours of driving and little to no sleep we only saw a miniscule amount of what is still left to be captured. I will be back one day but until then, I brought this back with me! As ALWAYS... GO SUBSCRIBE!!!!
We're on the tram. It took us about eight minutes to get there. Terminal 2.
Well we just landed. Walked right off the plane. Cuddled to the inside of the airport.
So we finally got a rental car. I'm all moody and impatient. Didn't sleep on the plane.
About a damn rain as soon as we got here. It's a little before 10. Did you smell that?
Smell that sour apple rain? Can't check into our hotel until 3. So I guess we just got to
run around and find stuff to do until then. We're gonna go book our tickets since we
couldn't book them online. So far the driving's pretty easy. Pretty self-explanatory. Nice and
scenic as it is. Something stinks. Something stinks!
So we drove to the Blue Lagoon. It was our first stop.
Glasses on the phone. But uh yeah the availability online was very limited.
So if you guys ever go to the Blue Lagoon make sure to book online. We're kind of having issues
with visa cards. So we just decided to drive here. Booked our tickets. A really nice lady inside
helped us out. Booked us for today since it was pretty iffy online. But we just decided to go
since we're here already. Heading back to the car to get our swimsuits. And uh yeah this is
the trail. All this volcanic rock pretty much is all over. So pretty neat first stop for us.
But we're gonna get our bathing suits and then head back to the lagoon. Go swimming. Spend a
couple hours here and kind of see where the day takes us. Well we're in the Blue Lagoon right now.
With about 1,600 other people. I still got my mask on. Liza took hers off.
Free drink. There's a bar that's actually in the lagoon and then there's one outside somewhere
wherever it is. Yeah it's pretty nice.
First, first cheers to us. Cheers to Iceland. Cheers to you guys in this video.
And if you can see behind us is the actual walk-up bar from the water so. And in that
fountain is the safara or like hotel reservations where you can stay there and stuff. And there's a
I'll just take this and then up there is. So let's get a little. Steamy. Steamy. This water's
really salty too but there's the restaurant at the walk-up bar and then kind of going
around the corner and this bad boy goes all the way back. There's like a bridge back there.
I think we're leaving the Blue Lagoon.
Yeah been here for about two hours. You just sit in here long enough you get kind of start
getting kind of weak. And you start getting really hot. Yeah a lot of salt in here but
it was nice how it lasted. Yeah definitely wear sunglasses if you come. Yeah hardly neither of us
neither of us brought sunglasses. I've been just squinting the whole time but.
So we just got to our hotel. Here she is. Not gonna lie it looks a little grungy on the outside but
we already went in and looked at the room. It's a pretty solid little room. Pretty solid. Yeah the
outside looks a little rusty and older but I'll give you guys a tour of our room real quick and
then we're gonna head back out to Keflavik. So this is where we're ending day one. Down by the ocean.
Down by the coast. When the sun's gonna set here huh? Maybe it won't set. It's about 18 hours of daylight
Down here in Iceland. End of May. But yeah that's this is where we're gonna end the day.
Just hanging out down here. I don't know if the sun completely sets but it looks nice.
Morning everybody. We just drove to Reykjavik. Liza planned a whale watching tour for us this morning
so that's where we're headed. Still a bit tired but we'll see how everything goes. Our tour's right there.
This building. Sea legs yeah so I'm just bouncing around. It's slick out here. Just up there by those
boats I guess. Just chilling there. Oh there he is. Yeah. Yeah. So we just got off our whale watching tour.
It's okay. I had fun. You have fun? It was great. I saw whale. We saw whale like four or five times.
The same whale. Same whale. 50 meters out. It wasn't real close but it was fun. I had fun.
A little choppy out there but whatever. We're gonna go get our car and then walk to the grocery
store and get some groceries. So we're not spending all types of all kinds of money on
eating out and then just check out Reykjavik. Reykjavik? I think that's how you say it.
We're gonna spend part of the day here and then I don't know. I don't know. Don't really have much
planned but oh yeah we're gonna go see some waterfalls as well but the national park so.
So here's something cool we found. This is their Iceland ramen. Chicken instant noodles.
A little bit different. Some chocolate ramen. Is that what this is?
It's the beast. I got all kinds of ramen. They have some American products but mostly it's
different brands. So this is like rainbow street. Starts up there. It goes a whole block
or and then around the corner. The longest game of hopscotch ever. Freaking one block long.
Icelandic cinnamon bun. Pretty good. There's an Icelandic donut. Icelandic donut and then
we have an Icelandic cookie. Chocolate chip cookie. Look at that bad boy. Wow.
I already know what I'm going to say. I've been feeling this way for far too long.
And now you're gone.
We're running to a geyser that goes off every seven minutes.
