This video is to show how using before and after jaw surgery models work for training surgeons in IMDO. Each model has six pieces (a total of 12) to allow easy comparison of before and after soft and hard tissue changes to jaw bone, bite, airway, tongue and skin. The models come with a pair of IMDO distractors, 12 screws and a screw driver and activating hex driver. The pre mandible is pre cut and drilled enabling east self affixation of distractors. The two posters explaining surgery as well as the book 6Ways To Design A Face, should be al that a surgeon needs to be able to promote understanding of the links that connect small jaws to obstructive sleep apnea and malocclusion… and the simple remedy that IMDO offers
These are the before and after INDO models. They overbite and form the corrected command.
The benefit of this is that you can place the nose, the lips, from one side.
So it clicks in and you can show how the lip changes with respect of the other lip as INDO
and just taking away the faces you have the ability to also inspect
the lower jaw relationship to the upper jaw as well as
as well as compare the mandibles with each other such and such or you can put them on a
table there's a size difference and you can also compare the texture of the tongue sits inside
the jaw that obviously you've got nerves that run through jaw bones you've got
lingual nerve you've got the muscles you've got the epiglottis the back of the tongue
how the tongue sits here how it sits here like this how it comes in and ultimately how it assembles
and the other thing about this is it cleaves the face and eye and bone of the palate so you can see
the retropharyngeal tissues the moustachian tube but you also see the sinus mucosal anatomy of the
nose the sinuses and how that in bone and the roots of teeth and gum tissue and palatal tissue
soft palate tissue and obviously as well you've got how it all sits inside so it's a three-dimensional
puzzle and what we're going to show you is how the INDO distractors are inserted
and the INDO distractors itself there are two INDO distractors there's a screwdriver
there are 12 screws there are 10 7 millimeter screws and there are two 5 millimeter screws
and then you've got a hex activator and the hex activator is what is going to activate the
distractors now the lower jaw is like so and it's already got the cut in place
and it's got the four holes so there shouldn't be any need to have a drill system
and you can simply leave it assembled on a desk like so and the first distractor will be able to
go inside so i'm just going to leave the skin on and show you how that now inserts so these are
self-retained screws
if you put the first one on like so and you can just simply screw it on
like that holes obviously that ties in just bend it in and it just sits inside there like that
and then sits over it like this and you can see how that all sits inside and of course then
you place the distractors on this side it will sit inside that there as well so i'll just do
that quickly like that working model of jaw distractors in place like that and you can see
how the distractor sits nicely inside the lip you can see how it's affixed and on both sides
and sits behind the lower lip so you don't see the distractors so if you lift it out
then you have the hex driver and of course you can't open this up because it's still fused
once it's open you can see how far apart they separate and that grows the new bone
on both sides and then you take the distractors away in a second procedure and that's what creates
or converts the overbite to a normal bite and makes a small jaw a normal jaw
and stretches out these tissues and you can see how the tongue sits in the palate
and is able to compare between the two states and finally how that changes the airway
behind the tongue so as to cure you of obstructive sleep apnea so that's that's how that
modeling works so we want to print those models for surgeons wanting to perform
imdo surgeries so that they have a model that sits on their desk and is able to
by the surgeon to demonstrate the
patient's
office
so that's how that works
