4-Day Road Trip Across Central Japan Episode 4 japan-guide.com
In this four-episode series, we're taking a four-day road trip
starting at Chubu International Airport
and making our way through Nagoya and the surrounding prefectures.
So join me, Raina Ong, as we continue on day four of our road trip
from the coast to the peaks of central Japan.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.
In this final episode, we'll be taking a ropeway up the mountains
then go on a scenic drive to Nagano Prefecture
and end the trip sake brewery hopping.
I'm at the Shin-Hotaka Ropeway now
and I'll be taking two ropeways up the mountain.
The second ropeway is a double-decker one
and I'm excited to take that.
Let's go!
The Shin-Hotaka Ropeway is the only double-decker ropeway in Japan
and transports riders about 1,000 meters in elevation.
The impressive transfer takes one to an altitude of about 2,000 meters
from where spectacular panoramic views of the northern Japan alps
and valleys in the Okuhida region can be enjoyed.
I can't believe my four-day driving trip is almost coming to an end
and now I'm gonna head to my last spot for the day
via the beautiful and scenic Venus Line.
Cycling on electric bicycles or e-bikes
is a relatively new activity offered on the Venus Line
and from seeing the cyclists I pass
it looks like a fun experience to try.
Finally, I get to Suwa
along the shores of Suwako
the largest lake in Nagano Prefecture.
There are five sake breweries in Suwa
within 500 meters of one another
and visitors can go brewery hopping and visit all of them.
I'm in Suwa where you can go on a walking tour
of the five sake breweries in the area.
This is my first stop and let's go!
This fun tour can be done in any order
and all you have to do is to pay for your tour at your first brewery
to receive your stamp card and sake cup
and you're good to go.
Don't forget that Japan has a zero tolerance policy
when it comes to drinking and driving
and with that in mind
I've left my car parked for the rest of the day.
I'm drinking the most popular sake here at Maihime.
Given how close they are to one another
it is best to walk between all of the breweries.
Four breweries down and this is the last one.
Let's go!
All good things must come to an end
until the next road trip.
Always buckle your seat belt
and drive with both hands on the steering wheel.
Thanks for joining me.
I hope this video has been enjoyable
and perhaps even inspires some ideas
should you decide to plan a road trip.
