Welcome to a new episode of Sailing Benko
Our current anchorage was just near the Kornati so we took the opportunity to
To take a closer look at this beautiful island world
We have arrived in Limpnaka and it is so beautiful
We got a tip and drove here to this Konova
To this tavern which lies here in the bay and is simply a dream
So the water and everything around it is really cool
And now we can already see the boat bringing the food for tonight's dinner
There is also a small restaurant here
We've chosen something nice for tonight
This is how it's done here so that you can have a steak stay overnight and then eat here
And yes it's really great We are already super excited about the delicious food
Before we have dinner Steffi and I first explored the island
The restaurant chef recommended that we go over the mountain ridge
There is a beautiful turquoise cove to see there
Naturally he didn't have to tell us twice and we immediately set off
After the delicious meal we set out the next day to climb the island's summit
The Kornates are the densest island group in the entire Mediterranean
Of the 152 islands in this island group 89 were named for their beauty
It was designated a national park in 1980 due to its particularly well-furrowed coastline and rich plant and animal life
Those who see the Kornati archipelago for the first time from the sea have the impression of stepping into a painting
The stark silhouettes of the islands form clear lines that together with the sea appear almost surreal like the Blue Sea
Notably the dry stone walls that once marked the boundaries
on Kornat The longest of them is 70 kilometers long
The island group stretches along the Croatian coast between the cities of Sardar in the north and Sibinik in the south
In the barren landscape there is almost no flora only sparse partly grass-covered gravel fields
The islands of the archipelago are made of limestone which is also the reason for the lack of fresh water
Since the water quickly seeps into the porous rock through casual rainfall
Yes we've sailed three nautical miles further into the next cove
I need to check what it's called Lopatica that's it
And it's really wonderful here in the Kornaten you have to say really
Also every cove is very very beautiful and we always choose the coves where we can anchor
We don't have to spend any money on mooring spots or any fees to just tie up here
For those who have not yet been to the Cornates the Cornates are a nature reserve
It means you also have to pay money to enter
There is also a ticket that needs to be resolved and during the day rangers patrol here to check that everyone has a valid ticket
We would like to thank our Patreons once again at this point
Thanks to your support we can afford this
Also normally that wouldn't be possible that we could get a ticket for the time here
And we are very happy that we can do it thanks to your support
And therefore once again a very very big thank you at this point
Thanks to you we can enjoy this great panorama and these wonderful anchorages here
That really makes us happy
We are now here and enjoying the last evening and sunset hours
Yes we are heading back to the mainland from the Kornati now
You can already see it behind me We also sailed the entire route
And I have to say it's really a great feeling every time to know that you're moving forward just with nature just with the wind
And the Benko is also doing surprisingly well
We now have 10 knots of wind and we are proceeding at about 4 knots
This is really cool for such an old steel ship
And I have to say it's a great feeling to drive the Benko
It is also very stable in water and
so Also it is really very very good
And we're going to find a small sheltered cove here on the mainland for this evening where we'll also take care of a few things
That means to stock up clean and do some laundry
All the stuff that has piled up and that we couldn't get done in the granaries
We will do that now and tonight we will cast off the anchor
We have now arrived in Venice I
hope I am pronouncing it correctly
And yes we really like it here
It's a super beautiful little place
We're going to go ashore there now as well
And yes we had great days in the Kornaten It was really
really beautiful We can only
recommend exploring the islands
Also going ashore for a while
We saw great sunsets And yes we
really spent nice days in the
bays It was really a lot of fun
And one could really relax well
It was really great
And the hospitality from the people there was also great
It's really crazy
We also found a nice little tavern at the end
We spent two days there
And yes it was just crazy how people then immediately take you in
And you really feel at home and don't want to leave at all
It was really a lot of fun
So yes go there if you ever come around here
We will stay here for a few days in Venice because a friend
of ours lives here Exactly she will also show us the place
We hope to be able to show you more in the next video
And it was nice that you stopped by again
