Hey, what's up everybody? I'm Evan. I'm Dani. We are Adventure Happy and we got tagged yet again.
Our buddy Matty Outdoors, he tagged us in his luxury gear items video. So it's our turn now,
I guess. We're gonna go through two and a half items each, kind of, that we bring along on
backpacking trips that are, you know, things that don't necessarily need, but definitely
makes the experience better as far as we're concerned. So why don't you kick it off? What
do you got? All right. First one that I've carried for pretty much our entire backpacking career is
I bring my Kindle. I like to have a book and I don't want to carry an actual book. The only time
that I actually do that is during winter camping so that my Kindle doesn't freeze, but it gives
me some additional things to do when we're at camp and crawled into the tent at night.
And then as well, if we have a digital copy of one of our trail books, then it also gives us some
things to read about the trail that we're doing. Nice, nice. I just use my phone for that,
but to each their own. That's why this is luxury items. First one I would say is a tarp. Now we
sleep in a tent. Why would we bother carrying the extra weight of a tarp? Just so that we have
somewhere to hang out when we're not in the tent. In the Canadian Rockies, thunderstorms kind of
crop up in the afternoon on a pretty regular basis. So having a spot where you can stay dry,
do your cooking, and just generally hang out is really, really nice. Rainy afternoon now.
This is just a AquaQuest Cheapo 8x10 tarp that we got on Amazon. Obviously there's a pretty wide
range of prices as far as getting a tarp. This one was about as cheap as you can go. There are
much, much more expensive ones out there and it is something that we're looking at as maybe a
potential upgrade in the future. Getting a nice thingy, a composite fiber tarp or at least like
a good sil-poly one. Something that doesn't have the sag issues like sil-nylon does.
But it does keep us dry. Yeah, this thing does get the job done for a very, very reasonable price.
I think it was like 40 bucks or something. Anyways, a tarp. All right, my other one
is dry shampoo. Definitely not mandatory for any hike that you do, but if we're on the trail for
longer than, you know, two nights, I do like to bring dry shampoo because, well, it makes me look
less greasy. Just go with this kind of haircut. You don't need shampoo. It's the way to go.
I don't think that would look good on me. That's probably true.
Maybe get a shaved head. Item number two for me is my Z-Packs front pack.
I like to film our videos, go figure. If you haven't noticed, I do do trip videos. I think
this is like the first video of ours you've come across. So keeping all my camera gear handy
is definitely a luxury, I would say. So this is a secondary pack. It just kind of attaches to the
straps on my backpack, rests against my chest so that I have easy access to the stuff that
I'm filming with. Also makes it look super cool. Yeah, it does look really awesome, but
hey, it's not a fashion show out there. We're just trying to be functional.
Yeah, so Z-Packs front pack. Very nice luxury item for, you know, if you have
stuff that you want to be getting at while you're on the trail and not having to take your bag off.
And then our final luxury item is kind of a joint luxury item, and it's this guy right over here.
It's not this rope that I'm trying to lure him with.
This is Cosley, the adventure dog, and he is
definitely a very heavy luxury item. Something like that. Plus all the gear that we have to
carry for him. I mean, it's a hassle bringing a dog when you're camping sometimes. He likes to
chase squirrels, and he's usually attached to me with a leash, so that can be kind of frustrating.
And you also hike your dog's hike, right? There's things where, you know, if you look at the
Fording River Pass trail that we did, we turned around from our day scramble because the dog was
getting overheated. So there are definitely things that you have to consider when hiking with a dog.
But he also brings a lot of fun and silliness, and he's a great hiking buddy. Yeah, yeah, he is an
awesome hiking companion. So that's it. We each did two, plus a shared item, the dog. Are you an item?
So I guess now I need to tag a couple of other YouTubers out there. I guess I'll probably
keep it in Alberta. So Backcountry Forward. I haven't seen a luxury item gear list video from
you guys. So Tyler and Jesse, Backcountry Forward, they do some really cool videos talking about
backpacking gear. And I know they've been filming trip videos, but they haven't been putting them
out yet. So I'm going to call them out on that also. So just add to your work list here, guys.
Luxury gear list video and some trip videos because I really want to really want to see
what you guys have been up to, okay? How about Nick Harlan, the guy on the other end of the
spectrum who I've never seen him talk about gear, but he does some pretty legit trip videos. I was
just watching one of his winter camping along the Athabasca River video earlier today. So Nick
Harlan, you're up too, bud. And then for a third channel, let's just do someone completely
ridiculous. So there's no way that they would ever watch this. Adventure Archives. Yeah,
sure. Why not? If you haven't seen Adventure Archives, I'd be surprised if you found us,
but you haven't found them. The production quality on their videos is pretty outstanding,
and they're a wealth of knowledge. We are not. We are not that, but we're out there to have fun.
Anyways, that's it. Hopefully you guys enjoyed this quick little video, and yeah. Peace, I guess.
