7 a.m.
Is it?
Yeah, 7 in the morning.
We are sat in this tiny little alcove of protection.
A bit demoralizing to be honest
and to be fair, to continue would just be irresponsible.
When we were at Snowdon I thought maybe Crib Gough,
maybe the wind's different around there, but no.
It is blasting this direction
which means that pinnacle part of Crib Gough is just going to be an absolute wind tunnel.
It would be stupid to carry on
and to be fair, most of the other peaks probably look like this as well.
We're making the decision to just quit whilst we have barely even started.
This is a good place to show you how strong the wind is
because if it blows us over, we don't fall off a cliff.
I actually think my jacket is going to break.
Oh man.
What is happening?
Yeah.
Yes, me too.
Yeah, of course I am.
I can't even stand up.
Should we just try and make a break for it?
Stick near each other.
It's just like one permanent gust of wind.
Right, let's go.
Right, quick, quick, quick.
Quick, come here.
I swear it just like doubled in strength.
Thank goodness for these cairns.
In about 10 minutes.
There's no way we were carrying on there, no way.
The only reason we carried on for this bit was just in case the weather improved
by some miracle but it's been blowing like this for two days, so unlikely.
So absolutely no problem quitting because this is stupid.
Let's just get down there and walk home.
Back at the top of the pig, out the wind, absolutely battered.
My ears are ringing, my forehead hurts from the bloody mud.
Okay, so future reference, if there's a gale reported over the entire Snowdonia,
don't do the three thousands, postpone it.
I'm glad that I ate 4,000 calories of food yesterday in anticipation of,
you know, a good hard 15 hours of walking today.
But hey, I'll burn that fat off some other time.
Yeah, that was an experience.
Walking down the pig is an absolute delight out of that wind.
I'm Brave Dave, going into a cave, let's rave.
Oh yeah, oh look at that, goes two ways.
Right, this is where we get lost.
Back into the wind and the rain, even harder than before.
Very cool.
