Hey everyone it's great that you're watching this YouTube video
I hope you're having a beautiful Advent season
For those who don't know me yet my name is Alexandra Ewang
I work as a horse photographer specializing in horses and especially their people
We offer workshops and also coaching in this area
And in this video I want to show you my equipment
We have an Instagram account called alex-lovesnelly
And there it's always asked which lens you used to take the photo what do you recommend
And this video I would like to use to show you my favorite things
One important thing to note upfront the video naturally contains a lot of advertising
This is all unpaid advertising so to speak heartfelt advertising because
these are things we work with regularly or sometimes not so regularly
The second piece of information is that I have a calendar which you can see here in the background
This is the Horse Love Calendar for the year 2020
And you can win it in our penultimate YouTube video
Also if you still want to join in feel free to do so
I would really appreciate your support as well
Please give me a thumbs up if you like the videos
And now let's start with the video
Okay we've already set everything up
for you You've probably already noticed
Actually it would also be cool if this were a giveaway right
now Or if I were pulling things out here that you could then win
But we're not that
far yet Maybe when
the channel is a bit bigger someday We'll see
We'll just start right away
with the biggest treasure It's
quite a lot I always notice it when I lift it up
This is basically the combination I work with the most
I would like to introduce you to the lenses in this video
And then you will also see example images directly afterwards which
were created with the optics So you
can make a small image of it yourself
The lens that is on the front is from the company Nikon
This is a 300mm
This means it is a prime lens
I shoot continuously at 300mm
This is not a zoom lens
With f/2.8
Also the widest aperture I can use with this lens
which is f/2.8
This is my all-time favorite combination the
one I currently use a lot
This is the Nikon D850
We are even filming them twice with the same camera right here at this moment And the other one I
have here in my hand
so we have a backup camera
Marco if you haven't met
him yet he also
uploaded a YouTube video last week It's about Adobe Bridge
This film also uses the camera really well That's
what I was just about to say
Exactly that's the lens that I just absolutely love
It's relatively hard That means you
really have to like it even having
it in your hand I find the quality
of this optics really unmatched
And I love it especially because I am
so far away from the team When taking
photos you have to speak loudly So
it could also be a small disadvantage
But I love being so far
away because then I also have
the opportunity to capture countless quiet moments
People are somehow also a bit out of it at this moment
So out of the scene and just with their voice
And I think many teams
feel unobserved in front
of my camera which I find totally beautiful
And that's a really impressive bouquet
That means it's really beautiful when taking photos
And I have a really really nice blur
in the background which I really like
Also this is an optic that I use a lot
a lot and I would never do without it
I had it even back then when they were still analog
I've really been using the 300mm for years
It had already been a very long time
even before I even had a full-frame camera
Yes and this is what the results look like now
We will be a bit shorter in the optics section
That is we will continue with the 70-200
The 70-200 is a lens that many wildlife
photographers use which is also really really great
Also I love it too
It comes from different brands
I also use it from the company Nikon with a 2.8 aperture
Also there is also a version with a more closed
aperture Then it is naturally accordingly a bit cheaper to buy
I think we've had this version for about two years now
And I have to admit I use it really rarely
It's a bit of a shame because it's really impressively
sharp in terms of quality and is also a really great lens
But because I have my 300 it's not used quite as often
And I have to say I'm just a total fixed focal length enthusiast
Now some of you are probably wondering
Hey and why did you put that thing back in the sales hall
No I wouldn't do that either because I just need it It offers
me a necessary flexibility that I don't have with the 300
And it's always just with you in your pocket
There are also sometimes stalls where there isn't much space
Small weiden where I want to take pictures of horses
running free would be too small for my 300mm lens
We also had a situation once in the morning by the lake There I
couldn't even get the 300er there That wouldn'
t have offered any possibility at all
And then it's always an absolute treasure
Then I have it with me I just have the opportunity
at I have a 70 to 200 mm zoom lens
that is the ability to zoom in and out with the lens
And so much more on my picture to capture
That's why it's always with me
And by the way I also really like it for dogs
Also if you're considering and only have money for a single
lens although the price difference is still relatively high
I think it costs about three times as much as this one
Then I would recommend this to you first simply because you are more
flexible with it and because it is also very good in terms of quality
and also a bit easier
Generally I would recommend you I'll just mention it here
If you're unsure which lens
is right for you and you 're
currently looking just go to a specialty store
I am really a big fan of supporting local specialty
stores and local specialists
There you can try the products
And there you can also rent
things for a day or two for a fee
When I was a student I studied in Düsseldorf
there I also used it very happily and very much
That I just borrowed things
And another very important piece of information in case you didn't know yet
Traders often also sell used items
This means you don't always have to buy everything new
They have lists where you can also check online what is
being sold there and it's also
possible that someone has 300s
Or even gets a used 70-200 lens then it's cheaper
And just the traders are giving an additional year of warranty on the items
I'd rather not say
all of them because I obviously don't know that for sure
But the traders I know still offer a one-year warranty on the
items which is naturally good
And now again here with this lens
Some example images for you
We will stick with the long lenses
This is the next one
This is from the let's say 1 2 3 long lenses
the one that is the shortest in my possession
And now another company is
also involved because this
lens is made by the company Sigma This is an 180mm
That way I'm a bit closer to the teams and she
doesn 't feel quite as addressed during the photo shoots
No that's obviously just a joke
But sometimes it's really like that
Especially when I'm photographing by the sea and have a 300mm lens on
You have to speak quite loudly so that you
can be understood at all Maybe some
of you know this situation
If you also work with
optics feel free to
comment and share your funny experiences
Also getting a bit closer to the team here
And I've also come to absolutely love the lens this year
I just like it when a lot of photos are taken
This is a bit lighter than the 300mm
I really like it because it's a prime lens
I just have a thing for prime lenses
Somewhere already all along
I really like that
I really like the quality
And now comes the part
Why I also really love this lens
It is a macro lens
That means I really have the opportunity
Get as close as possible to the team and can
as I mentioned earlier be in quiet moments
From moments that are relatively uneventful
We even have an entire shooting package
which is called what you can book with us
And these are precisely the moments that might just happen by chance
Perhaps it's just a hand with the horse's mouth
The horse's eye or whatever it is
And with this perspective you now have the
opportunity to get very very close to your team
You can also photograph flowers insects anything you want with it
This macro lens is really great for that
I don't think it's suitable
for capturing movement because
it's really too slow Because now one could again say
Hey but if you have the 180 and
the 300 then just sell your 70-200
But this is much much slower for motion capture than this one
And they are just in their own things
For which I use it but completely different
This is as mentioned a bit of a cover-up
to have more space
Maybe also take some more photos with a bit more location
And this place is really beautiful for portraits
Also I think portraits are great this way and also
close-up shots also moments that are very very close
These two are about the same price by the way
I think this one is a bit more expensive
But they don't do that much so when it comes to pricing
Exactly this one too
one of my favorite
lenses I really like it a lot
And now there are also example images for you here
P S I just remembered this
little gem is actually a discontinued
model So you might want to take a look
Whether you can get it a bit cheaper
from your trusted
dealer Just check it out
And I really hope really that
Sigma will bring a successor
to the market Like I said because I just really love it
We continue with my cameras because I also want
to introduce them to you
briefly The cameras I use
They are all full-frame cameras now
That means we simply installed a large sensor
These are all cameras from the company Nikon
I had already mentioned at
the beginning that the camera
I work with the most is current as of December 2019
Who knows what will happen when you watch
the video a year later But the current status
I prefer to work with the Nikon D850
As mentioned it is a full-frame camera
with a very high resolution
That means a lot of
pixels now I find them really fast and I like the
simple ones It fits well in my hand and I think that's also always important
That means if you're
interested in a camera here's the old reliable tip Consider
what your budget is
How much money do you want to spend
Generally I would always say
Optics are more important than the camera
So first of all make sure you have good optics
Then look at the camera
That's how I would at least do it
because of course you can't afford everything right from the start
I know that all too well
And then you just try them out
And as I said the Nikon D850 is highly recommended
Then we have this gem here
This is the D810
This is simply the predecessor of the D850
They are hardly used anymore but we
still have them as a backup camera
Especially when Marco and I are
traveling together and we have film jobs
Then Marco is filming with a
D850 I am photographing with
a D850 and we always like to have something else along
Well just imagine we travel
somewhere the camera breaks down or something happens then
we still have the option
To switch to the D810
It's also a great camera
It's just the previous model
That's why we simply work more with the D850
Okay the next camera
which I would like to introduce to you
is briefly the Nikon D750
And they exist so often
so incredibly cheap
in quotes because it'
s still a lot of money
But really so often cheaply offered
And I can recommend that to you
You can already see it's quite a bit smaller
I think it also feels really
good in the hand We also bought
them new some time two years
ago And that's our travel camera
We had such a camera for
a while a really small
mirrorless camera for traveling But somehow yes
Somehow we just like reflex
cameras and found them to better in
quality than the ones we had before
That was also not
comparable in price and so on
We hardly ever used them
so we kept switching back
And that's why it's
like that you can also see it it's a bit dirty on the side
here That's really the camera
e ones we often take for a walk the ones
we take on vacation the one that's also
sometimes just in the backpack
Also just the camera for on the go and our photos
We also produce a lot of great content
always for our Instagram account
And for quick shots the camera is really good
Of course also for professional photo sessions
So there are a lot of great photographers
ey are mainly used for work
Also if you are looking
for a good full-frame DSLR camera
Naturally it is assumed
that you would also like a
Nikon camera then I can highly recommend it to you
It is also simply much cheaper than the D850 if that
is important to you Also how
expensive the equipment is
Exactly that's it for this part
These were the three main lenses
plus the three camera models
that I like to work with
And these little treasures the ones that are here
at the top you 'll
see them in part 2 of the video
So be sure to watch it again
You could tell us which of
the three perspectives would
fit you best where you say if
money didn't matter right now
That doesn't matter right now if you say I would like the optics and
the results meaning the result
photos I also liked those the best
Send me a comment about
it right away
That would really interest me Maybe you also have a picture
Where you say it really that came about with the
optics I hadn't thought of that at all
I would have thought it was the one or the other
Could you also write something sometime
I always enjoy reading from you
