Chestnuts roasting on an open fire.
That's it?
That was not even a kiss.
Well I have lipstick on, I don't wanna get it on you.
Fair enough.
Just looking out.
Hello everyone!
What's up?
We are back, and this week we're talking
all about traditions here on The Holidays with Kim.
One thing that we always do every single year
is all of the family comes to mom and dad's
the Christmas Eve, and we just play a ton of board games.
And we always pair up into teams.
Two years ago, the first time we were on a team.
We dominated.
I don't think we won.
We didn't win.
And I know with you, your family's very big
into dressing up outfits.
Yeah, we all draw names, and whoever's name you draw,
you pick out a very embarrassing holiday-themed outfit
that we all end up wearing out in public doing something.
Last year, we got my dad in a full-on
movie-quality elf costume,
because I had him, and you had my mom.
I drew Darla, and we were like, this is so epic.
But I was like, what am I gonna put your sweet,
sweet mother in?
What does Buddy the Elf love?
Christmas trees!
So we got this amazing, like, kind of-
Huge Christmas tree with just a hole for your head,
had like presents for your shoes,
and my sweet old parents just walked up and down
downtown Gatlinburg, Tennessee,
dressed as Buddy the Elf with his tree.
And I was Marge?
Oh, there she is.
Marge, yeah.
Marge from-
Christmas vacation.
Yes, Luke had me, so he got me this-
She had the full-on sweatsuit.
And then you and Luke, your parents had y'all, didn't they?
Yeah, I don't know what we were.
We were just, like, holiday 80s rockers.
One of the traditions that we kind of
are starting to morph in is the onesies.
The onesies, you guys.
We'll get to that in a little bit.
So good.
But what else?
I don't really know traditions.
Movies.
Movies for me.
Gotta be movies.
White Christmas on Christmas Eve.
Yeah.
It's a wonderful life on Christmas Day.
Gotta see The Home Alones.
All The Home Alones.
I'm a tradition.
I'll even go to Home Alone 3.
It's not Macaulay Culkin, but it's still decent.
Yeah, well, I didn't even know that existed,
so there's that.
Oh, there's, oh my gosh, I totally forgot.
So, a Christmas tradition that Jordan's family has.
I'm excited about this one, because I forget.
Okay, well, so I guess every year
when they're at Jordan's family's house in Chico,
they go with their next door neighbors, the Rubies,
and they have a cookie Christmas decorating competition.
Oh, yeah.
I did decorate on my first year doing this.
Oh, this was.
And let me just say, I took home first place.
First year, beginner's luck.
It's ridiculous.
And it was not rigged.
It was completely anonymous.
My cookie won, and you were so bitter about it.
The most egregious thing ever
in the cookie decorating contest happened.
I made a football stadium, 3D.
I had two sides with fans, colored sprinkles.
I had a field, yard markers.
It was a stadium, and my mom won that year.
What did she make it?
Just like a beautiful angel,
because she's really artistic.
And yeah, it was good.
But I made a football.
So, after that, I was like, you know what?
I'm gonna stop trying. Whatever.
♪♪♪
Jack Frost, snippy magic.
We don't Christmas Carol either.
We should, with that voice.
One thing that Jordan and I decided
when we spent our first Christmas together,
it was like super exciting.
We had just moved into this new house.
We got our first Christmas tree.
And then we got an ornament sent to us.
And I think your parents sent it to us.
Yes, yeah they did.
And it was very sweet,
and it was this beautiful white ornament
that just said, our first home.
And so, since then, I told Jordan,
I was like, this is really cute.
We should start our own tradition
with some sort of ornament,
whether it's we get one together
that reflects what our year was like,
or what we want our next year to be.
And then, better idea.
This is the first year that we're actually
doing an ornament swap.
You ready?
Who's going first?
I'll go first.
Here you go.
Don't look at mine.
Don't look at mine over there.
This is your gonna love.
It's Jackson!
It's literally Jackson.
Jackson.
That's amazing.
Isn't that amazing?
Where did you get this?
It's amazing.
I found this downtown, and I have never.
It looks exactly like him.
And Jackson's a very unique looking
German short hair pointer.
It's got the spots in the right areas.
And look at his tail.
White tail.
Wow.
So I had to get it.
And it's lunar.
I wish I would've gone first now.
I would've gone it just for myself.
He's famous.
He's a star.
I know.
That was probably made after him.
Maybe not as sentimental, but still thoughtful.
It's heavy.
Jordan.
Hey, you did.
This is such a manly way of wrapping things.
Yeah.
Oh my gosh.
Dear Santa, all I want is for the Cowboys
to win the Super Bowl.
Thank you.
Promise I will be good.
To the Cowboys fan.
This is so amazing.
And I'm slowly warming up to it.
He hates the fact that I am a huge Cowboys fan,
which I don't even know why.
So this was a very selfless gift.
This was a good first year at Swaps.
My dad's gonna be so proud of me.
We gotta put these on the tree.
Yeah, but you know, Jordan has a very.
Yeah, speaking of trees.
I like a good separation of holidays.
I like to appreciate every holiday.
So Thanksgiving is Thanksgiving.
As soon as Thanksgiving over,
tree goes up, and then you enjoy Christmas.
And then you've also been very serious
about having real trees.
The tree's gotta be real.
However.
This is the first year.
This is the first year we decided to do a fake tree.
However, I feel like it looks very real.
And it looks really good.
You know, we love the real tree,
and it was so cute going and picking it out,
and it makes your house smell good, but.
You know what the problem is?
The problem is after Christmas.
It's just.
Because we had the tree literally sit
in the back alley for like a year.
And it's like, I guess you can call people
to get it picked up, but we didn't do that.
Yeah.
And it's just like, then it's July,
and you're like, the Christmas tree's still sitting there.
Like, what do we do?
We're spending Christmas with my parents,
and you can bet on Gormasazi being there,
because it is our favorite.
Like, it's so good.
It's just in my belly.
I just love it.
All up in the belly.
He loves it.
Like, it gets bigger at Christmas, obviously.
So I swear to you, this is not planned.
My mom had no idea we were even filming
or even talking about traditions today.
But it's amazing.
She showed up today.
So Raya's in the house.
Making Gormasazi.
And so she's in the kitchen,
and we're going to go show y'all.
Just hold up, mother.
Mm, my coffee's good.
I figured I'm going to surprise Jordan,
because he wanted that Gormasazi.
Tell him what tahdik is.
Yeah, mom, tell him.
Tahdik is the bottom of the pot.
It's basically the best part that everybody fights on it.
Like the crust of it, the burnt rice.
The crusty, the crunchy, the buttery with saffron.
This is the one thing that no one can master,
even when we all try to make it.
So why don't you show them?
All right, this is my rice with saffron.
Let me pray, pray, pray, pray, pray
for tahdik to come out.
All right, now I'm going to do it.
Yep!
Oh!
Tahdik, tahdik.
Oh!
I got the tahdik.
Perfect.
Oh, that's the best part.
And this is where everybody fights in my home.
Yeah.
It is so good!
Jordan loves this.
Yeah, I'm a Jordanian.
JoJo was worried if I'd like it or not.
Basically, Gormasazi is spinach, cilantro, leeks,
and either filet mignon or chicken.
I mean, I'd die for this food.
I really didn't know you guys were filming.
I know, that's why we're like,
this is so funny that she's showing up
and we're talking about Christmas traditions
and you make it every time.
Oh my goodness.
Perfect.
Perfect timing.
All right.
Oh, get your spoon.
Are we going to go sit on the couch?
Come sit on the couch.
Let's go sit on the couch.
Okay, this way.
Oh, you're just diving in.
So we were talking about family,
like Christmas traditions, holiday traditions,
and I said game night, we do game night,
but is there anything else that I'm forgetting?
You guys are always waiting to see if Santa comes.
That's when I was a child.
I know, but I had to get up at 1.30
to take a bite of a cookie and take a sip of milk.
So when you get up at two in the morning,
you will really believe in Santa.
Did you?
Santa liked peanut butter, huh?
Santa came.
I still remember the day that I was reading Santa's note
and I recognized that-
The handwriting?
I recognized, I can't remember which letter it was,
that is the exact same that my mom does, and I went.
What a sad day.
But just you, like my parents, still write Santa on gifts.
Yeah, and one year, she recognized it.
She said, my handwriting.
She said, that looks like your handwriting.
I said, maybe Santa's from Persia.
I don't know, that's how we write.
Sometimes, you know, I think both of our families,
we try to take just a trip around Christmas time,
whether it's before or after.
One thing that we, tradition-wise, last year-
We started doing that.
We started doing every New Year's,
we would take just sort of a couple's trip
to somewhere-
A little getaway, yeah.
A little getaway to somewhere very sort of remote,
and we would, no cell phones, no computers,
and we would just spend the weekend discussing our goals
for the next year, whether it's professional,
personal, relationship goals, and just sort of disconnect.
We went to, got a cabin in Oklahoma,
really not near anything.
We brought Jackson, and it was just, it was nice.
It was nice to just get away, and writing down your goals,
I feel like, is something that makes it-
Makes you stick to it.
Makes it real.
So that's a little tradition that we have for New Year's,
but Jackson's gonna eat all of our gummy stuff.
We're gonna be so flustered.
I was worried about my tattie,
and I know Jordan-
Oh, it came out perfect.
Perfect.
Yeah, good.
Now you know, you need to learn how to do it for you.
Yeah.
Significantly.
I know.
You need your husband.
Look at you.
I know, I know.
Jordan wants me to learn how to make this so bad,
so I'm going to learn.
I've tried it once, but I haven't mastered it yet,
but I'm gonna do an episode where I attempt to cook it,
and I'm gonna do good.
Mom, love you so much.
I love you.
Jordan and I have to do a quick outfit change.
Oh yeah.
So we're gonna get up with you.
Come on.
Can you breathe in that?
For a special event.
The best part about this one,
goes all the way up.
Wow.
When you're just ready for that Christmas nap,
you just-
Are you sweating?
A little bit.
You have food all in your teeth, babe.
Really?
Look where my stabby is.
Can they see it?
Is it really in there?
It's all in there.
Well, spinach.
I think it's good.
Let's just roll with it.
So.
You know what?
You take it from here.
I didn't mean to embarrass you.
Come back.
So these are our Christmas onesies
that we got last year,
because we haven't gotten our new ones yet.
Let's be honest.
Onesies.
They're functional.
They're fashionable.
And they're fun.
They're functional?
Like keeps you warm.
Yeah, it keeps you warm.
I will say the ones with like the butt zipper.
So weird.
Those are even more functional.
You know what I mean?
All right.
We got some ornaments to hang in our onesies.
If you guys want to see any more holiday traditions,
click on the playlist in the description.
And.
We are about to go ornament it up.
Let's go, babe.
