Filling My Garden Beds With Spring Colour & More 🌈😊

Hi everyone it's Jeanette here from Enthusiastic Gardener and today it is very cold but very sunny, not in my garden though. If you saw my last video I explained this time of year my garden gets no sun at all apart from the very edge towards the bungalow so everything I do has to be in the shade but it's very good for filming actually. If you film in the sunshine it never comes out very good so every cloud has a silver lining and today I'm hoping that Richard when he comes back is going to do one something that he has never done before and actually I've never done it before either but I saw someone else's video Bree the plant lady and I thought ah this will take five minutes so I said to him Richard will you help me in the garden he won't get dirty it will take you five minutes it's the easiest thing in the world he said when I get back he's gone to look at someone's I don't know taps leaking or the boilers no hot water I'm not sure he's promised when he comes back that he will do that with me so that will be fun and the other thing I need to do is do you remember last week I cleared out my greenhouse and I took out all the winter pansies and I put them to one side and I said I was going to plant them and then they've been there ever since for a whole week so I haven't planted them but I'm calling it that I was adjusting them to the cold so it's really me I was too lazy and I didn't plant them so today I'm going to do that very very quickly and actually as all the bulbs are popping up this very good because I can see where the gaps are because I wouldn't have known otherwise so I've sowed them so I might as well plant them nothing to lose apart from a bit of my time which is just fresh air and being in the garden so there's that there's the project Richard's going to do and Lottie's coming to say hello hello darling hello baby girl come here she's come to say hello and yes there's a couple of other things really nothing that warrants a whole video all to itself but lots of little things I can do so let's get on with it by the way my diet is going well if it looks like it isn't it's because I've got a big big fat jumper on underneath because it's rather chilly anyway I'm using this little baby baby trowel just to coax them out and then I'm just going to randomly do it as quickly as I can I'm having to be very careful with my knees still still having trouble with my knee so I can't really put all my weight in it there you go my little pansies I'm just going to randomly put them all in and I've got quite a lot so I'm going to speed this up for you but basically that's what I'm doing at the moment I'm thinking oh what a lot of effort for some pansies started in August taking all this time to grow um yes digging out here in the cold but it's an experiment if it works they might come up beautiful in spring and I'll be so delighted and I think I'm doing this every year we shall see at least I've followed the process through through through followed the process through and time will tell okay I can hear Richard coming home we'll see if he wants to do the project that I have in mind he promised that he would I promised him it was five minutes and that he wouldn't get dirty so let's do it okay Richard we are going to sow sweet pea seeds these sweet peas I saw you've never sown seeds it's going to take you five minutes where we're going to sow them around the base of this obelisk I'm going to show you how simple it is because you can sow them now Richard and just stick your finger in exactly we're going to do this and um I'll explain while we do it you can sow them now and they'll come up in May are you up for the challenge very much for the challenge we're coming let's do it you're going to have to step onto the soil you've got the brightest brightest shoes what we need to do is just do a drill all the way around you've got to stick them like a hole these are sweet pea heirloom bicolor and we were given them by Richard's friend his golfing friend Ron so I thought it would be really nice if Richard could tell Ron he did the planting to help break down the seed coat for quicker germination you just soak them in some hot tap water for a couple of hours I have a terrible confession to make yes a terrible confession it's put me out she's disturbing my Sunday afternoon because what happened was I'm inside editing the wonderful seed sowing oh yeah and I didn't film it no no so basically around this obelisk I've made little holes and I've put little seeds in for for what what were they sweet oh sweet peas so I didn't film it and um so all my energy all my preparation I had my script prepared and uh she never filmed it I never had the camera turned on it does help to turn the so here I am pretending that I've just done it but I did do it but I did do it promise you that my fingers are still dirty yeah and um yes so around the obelisk there is seeds which are going to climb up the obelisks and the sweet peas was it yes that sweet peas there's gonna be loads of sweet peas next year this year this year so so that's it I've I've done I've done my bit now you have I have right so I'm out the front this is not the most interesting of things but I've got a lot of weeds and because anytime you do plant a brand new area which is what this was for some reason it just gets filled with weeds and I've let them do their thing because I think they're easier when they're so tiny who wants to pick out really really tiny weeds but all I'm going to do is go around weeding there we go not the most exciting of jobs but a necessary evil as you probably will agree and keep on top of it all sorry things weren't that exciting today but it's all getting us closer to spring the most fantastic time of the year in my opinion so hope you're having fun in your gardens I'm Jeanette I am the enthusiastic gardener take care everyone and I will
