Well it's a new day and yesterday we ended the night as I told you in Chania at the Chania port
I didn't take any pictures because it was more a bit more relaxed and besides I had already taken some the night before
Well there wasn't much either the truth is went to the same area so everything is quite similar
And nothing now we're back on our feet again once again well it's half past seven in the morning and we're going south
For the southwest to a beach that is Lafonisi Beach one of the most famous beaches here in Crete
So it will be crowded again so our idea is to try to arrive again before 9
Because it takes about an hour to get there
We have about an hour's drive
We have arrived at Lafonisi beach it's a trip if you're coming from Kissamos like us it's about an hour
There is no highway like the one you would find for other destinations instead to reach Lafonisi you have to follow
It's a whole road like that very winding with many curves crossing several mountains
Then it's a road meaning it's much better than yesterday's path to Valos because it's not like that whole goat path it was
But this is just a normal two-lane road although not painted but much better
Then in about an hour you'll arrive here in Lafonisi at the parking lot there's plenty of space
but the same thing I told you in Valos it's better that you come as soon as possible to avoid because surely
So there's a lot of space in the parking lot and also on the sunbeds that are spread all over the beach
You have the whole site to yourselves and it's 9 in the morning
Surely when we leave everything will be full and the cars will already be parked
Following the path outward as it was yesterday Valos
That's why in places as touristy as this it's best to come as early as possible to enjoy it
Even if it's just a moment for yourselves and being well located
We have taken a sunbed right by the shore in the first row
Then well it's another advantage
The beach at Lafonisi is very well known it wasn't as touristy before
But in recent years it has become super touristy and increasingly crowded
and it is very characteristic for the red sand
This is because well more than red it's pink sand
This is because there are many marine corals around here that are reddish in color
And then all of that fades giving the sand that
pinkish tone especially along the entire shoreline
It is also characteristic because it separates what is the sea and
creates something like a lagoon which is this one behind me here
It doesn't close completely but it's a much calmer part
In which another characteristic of this area and of
many beaches in Crete is that it does not extend far into the water
In this part for example this pond here doesn't go beyond the knees
Let's now walk towards one of the small islands and
what I was telling you right now nothing is covered here
It is just above the ankles with some areas reaching the knees
But right now look on my ankles and I'm completely stuck in the swamp
Oh here right in the middle of everything and you can go there walking from place to place
then it's fun
Well if you want to swim it's typical to be able to swim dive a bit and so on
Well you have to move a bit further away or there areas that are more exposed to
the sea which we will go to now so well there's a bit of everything
There are also activities I think they're called zumbonas we
haven't paid yet but I think they're around 9 euros person per day
and then you have different activities available for example you can go kayaking
Stand up paddling and these activities cost between 9 and 15 euros per hour
We are leaving La Funisi beach we have really enjoyed it
So it's a paradise the color of the water is unreal all the shades of blue there are
that turquoise blue
We have been snorkeling which is a great option we recommend
that if you have snorkeling masks or goggles bring them
No you can buy them at the
beachside kiosks which is what we did as well
There's food to eat well they serve sandwiches and things like that
And honestly it's the kind of place to spend the whole day we're leaving now
It's 2:30 we've been here since 9 in the morning that 's
a long time and we would have stayed all day anyway
But anyway we also want to see other things and
since time is limited we prefer to see other things
Although I'm telling you that here is the place to stay all day in peace
And now we are going to Loutrop which is a small fishing village located to the south
The problem is that since Crete is not the
infrastructure is also not very well connected
Well we have to go back the way we came from the
morning walk the mountain path an hour to Chania
And from there we'll have another hour and a
half or so up to Loutrop port two and a half hours
We stopped halfway to eat
something which we haven' t eaten all day we've
been snacking on a few things
So nothing else let's see if we can find a restaurant
that's roughly on the way something we can grab a bite of
And we will tell you when we arrive at Loutrop
After almost three hours of driving we have arrived at Esfakia
Now Esfakia a small village on the coast south of Crete
and it's still quite
hot and now what we are going to do is take a boat here
that will take us to the next destination Loutrop
This is the small fishing village where we will spend the
night today and there is no direct road to reach Loutrop by car
So you have to go to one of the small villages
that has a ferry connection to this village
Then one of them the main one is
Esfakia which is located in the
port area where you can buy tickets directly to go to Loutrop
They run all day no need
to book in advance because
they run all day it's six
euros person for the trip
It takes about twenty minutes so nothing we are
now passing through the small town of Esfakia
At five-thirty now in about fifteen minutes
our ferry is leaving for there
We have arrived at Loutrop the fishing village
where we will spend the night we would
have stayed until tomorrow
and the truth is that it's a super beautiful town
it's here against the mountain
I told you there's no other way to get there except by ferry I think you
can also come by walking doing a
trek through the mountain and so on
But anyway the easiest way to get here is by boat
and here are some little hotels there aren't many either
but anyway there are several
And in fact most people usually come here to spend the day so it's
advisable to come and spend at least one night in one of the hotels
Because it's much more relaxing you have
more of it for yourselves
and you can find it during hours when there are far fewer people
It is for example now the sunset
the whole world is
going out people are leaving the village
leaving a much more intimate place
Then we've booked a room that faces the sea
and the truth is it has very beautiful views
It has this terrace where you can be here having a drink
