Start a new journey finally This is the first trip I've taken since it began
e entire topic of the pandemic The last trip was to Colombia in January 2020 a couple of weeks later
Months before everything started HTC And since then I'm now recording
In August 2021 which means more than a year and a half has passed And now finally I am starting
The first international trip This is the first destination I am coming to it is to
Greece This is my second time in Greece and my first time came via Interrail
We were mainly in Athens and on the island of Mykonos and now nine years later
I'm coming back We are going to visit only Greek islands we will be on three islands
Greek and now we are in the first one which is Crete Crete is the largest island
Greece has it and it is also the fifth largest in the Mediterranean It is a good one
Entry point from Spain the flights are quite cheap We are in Crete now
About 30 degrees which is hot but at least it's not the mid Plains that it is
There's a lake in Athens Now we are at a lake called Corna which is in
Creta since we are already heading west We will be mostly on the western side
From the island So we are in Corna where we are going to eat now because we have landed
Very soon The flight was at 6:30 in the morning and we landed here near
At twelve o'clock due to the time change Here it's one hour later And then we have done
Now it's almost a couple of hours by car and now we are going to eat at a restaurant here
Look it has good reviews In the lake where we are now Lake Corna
There are two or three restaurants right next to the lake and all of them have an opinion
Quite similar What we have been doing is good it has very good reviews
The restaurant is okay the food is good nothing spectacular but okay
At least it was delicious We ate we shared some chicken breasts as well as
The kebab and moussaka which is a typical Greek dish is a type of lasagna made w
Eggplant then it's quite tasty The prices well are normal meaning they are not expensive
Prices are also not that high from Greece which is generally a country where everything is more affordable These are
Restaurants that are clearly much more tourist-oriented so their prices are high
A bit more tourists It cost us about 25 euros for the two of us with a couple of juices and that
Then well it's normal And what it has is that right when you enter the lake
There's a small beach where we are now with a lot of sunbeds
They are free On the loungers you can be without any problem and you can
You can swim you can dive whatever you can do because it's not very deep but you can be here without
Problem for free parking at any of the restaurants available The
What there are like little oars which are like small boats that you are rowing yourselves
Pedal with your feet or with a board so you can row yourselves making
Stand up paddling or however you see it And that you really have to rent it's around between 8 and 15
Euro per day depending on how many people you are then well it's a good option
Also because that's where the water covers more you can see you can dive more
In the areas where it covers more There are also turtles not many but you can find some
If you go with the little boat then it's a good option if you're going to be here all day or
It's noon so besides taking a bath it's good to take a walk in one of these
Little boats We will probably go swimming here now in the shallow area where it just covers
To get here the best way to move around in general in the Greek islands is by car There is
e smallest islands such as Mykonos where if you have a moped or an ATV it's more than enoug
Enough but for example islands like Crete which is huge from one end to the other you could take 6 hours
ours by car because it's well worth renting a car There is public transportation but well you have
Since you have to rely on bus schedules and such it's better to rent a car They are no
The cheapest but good option is the best way to get around so it's a necessary investment
Then the best thing is to start booking hotels around the island depending on the points if you want to
Visit We are going to visit especially the western part near Lachania or Chania as it is
Call the city that's the farthest west because we're going to spend a couple of nights there then we'll leave
For the south and well other points that we will show you but well this is like the
First contact because today we have arrived from Spain and
We're exhausted from the early start because today was a bit more relaxed and well planned simply
Well come here eat something and just go with the flow
This entire part of the fortress is from the 16th century when they wanted to defend themselves from the Ottoman Empire
In the 20th century in 1925 it ceased to function as a mosque
