Baylor baseball - triple play - minute maid classic 2-28-09

It was an exciting night for the Baylor Bears baseball program at Minute Maid Park as they beat the UCLA Bruins 5-1. It was a pitching shootout between the Bears and the Bruins. On the mound for Baylor, Kendall Valls gave up four hits, no runs, in seven innings of pitching. And he had six strikeouts. And for the Bruins, Garrett Cole. In six innings, he gave up two hits, one run, and struck out eight batters. It was like a big ballpark. I was trying to keep the ball down and really let our defenders play well. The field plays kind of slow, slower than what we're used to at least. But honestly, I was just trying to fill up the zone and let our defense go to work. And it worked out. And to top it off, this has to make the highlight reel, a triple play started by Dustin Dickerson late in the game. I hit it soft, it was a soft line drive. And I saw it at first, and then the runner got in the way. And then I saw it at the last second, so I tried to catch it. And then I caught it, and I didn't know if they saw that I caught it or not, so I threw it to second. Luckily, we got a triple play out of it. It was pretty awesome.
