Thanks for stopping by! My name is Shari Franke, a 17 year old teenage girl just trying to get through high school! 😂 Join along for all of my and my family's crazy adventures.
This is the latest I've ever slept on a school day.
It is 6 o'clock, it is the first day of school.
I just brushed my teeth,
cleaned my retainers out,
so you don't have to see that.
You're welcome.
So school starts 20 minutes later than it did last year.
Supposedly to help the high school kids sleep more,
but I don't know how much 20 minutes is going to do.
I'm still grateful.
So everything gets moved back 20 minutes this year in my schedule.
So instead of needing to wake up at 540,
I woke up at 6 this year.
So that's really nice.
We're going to do things a little differently this year.
I'm going to start with scripture reading in the morning,
just because, I don't know,
when I would get home and do it after school,
I would either be rushed,
or I'd be stressed at homework,
or sometimes I'd just get home so late,
I literally had no time to do it,
or I couldn't do it as thoroughly as I wanted to.
So I'm going to do it right now.
I have scripture markers.
There's a color guide,
and then a journal that I just kind of like,
write little notes about during it while I read it.
So I'm going to do that right now.
Guys, like I have this pillow,
but I don't know where the pillow cover is for it.
It's not great.
My bed isn't great.
Okay, we're going to get dressed,
and this is going to be the true test to see how well I did
at keeping myself fit over this whole quarantine thing,
because when school ended,
I was in the best shape of my life.
Okay, and so if it doesn't fit,
I haven't tried it on,
probably should have done that.
We'll see how it fits.
All right, it still fits.
I do remember it being a little shorter,
but it's, it works.
It's good.
Let's go curl my hair.
Okay, hair is done, makeup is done,
and now it's time to go downstairs.
I'm going to get everything before I go down
like I usually do.
So I have my chapstick, my keys,
my mask is in the car.
So is my volleyball bag, which is really nice.
So I need some socks, my shoes, my backpack.
Oh, I need to put my calculator in it.
One sec.
I charged it last night.
Okay, now we are ready to go downstairs
and eat and pack lunch.
So lunches are still kind of a struggle
because my wisdom teeth came out less than two weeks ago.
So I still kind of need to eat soft food.
I'm not at home to warm food up.
So we're going to have to figure out some ways around it.
So last night, I made a giant thing of mashed potatoes,
and we're going to experiment.
I'm going to warm them up and put them in a thermos,
and see if they're still warm by lunch.
Otherwise, we're eating cold potatoes for lunch.
Also, I got some turkey and lettuce
that we're going to put on bread for a sandwich.
Bread is kind of funny to watch me eat,
because it's, I can't chew with my back more,
so I'm like beating it with my front teeth,
and it's really gross, and we'll have to figure it out.
We'll work through it.
And then I also got a bunch of yogurts.
I've been living off of yogurts lately,
but we'll make our lunch right now.
So because I still need to somehow rinse out my mouth
with salt just to keep the holes clean in the back of my mouth,
I tried to find one of those like rubber collapsible cups
that they use for camping.
They didn't have any,
so I'm going to bring this and a big bag of salt.
I know everyone says to like clean it out with a syringe.
Nothing of that was mentioned at my appointment.
They never gave me a syringe, never talked about it.
We tried to find a syringe.
This is the only one we could find.
Mom ordered some actual one,
so with like the curve on it,
but this has been working just fine.
So I'm going to get some salt.
We'll pack that in my lunchbox too,
so that after I eat, I can like rinse my mouth out.
If you know me,
you know I gotta have my peanut butter and honey.
I don't have my dark chocolate today.
I have some eggs to help keep me more full.
Protein drink.
Let's eat.
Thanks mom for making breakfast.
You're welcome.
Today is only mine and Chad's first day of school,
because the other kids are doing homeschool.
Their classes kind of just start on different days.
So the girls started a Greek mythology class two days ago,
but that's like the only one that they do.
They mostly start next week, I think.
But today, me and Chad for sure are going to school,
and we've never had school on the,
like the first day of school
has always been on different days for us.
That's not true.
Yeah, it has.
I swear we never.
No, remember when I went,
I chat us that the school started a day before.
Yeah, Abby started the day before us.
I know, but for sure,
we're going to get some cool pictures.
I have such a struggle
with the whole concept of brushing your teeth,
because I already brushed my teeth in the morning, right?
And now I've eaten.
Do I brush them again?
It's the first day of school,
and I'm wearing a mask,
and I'll smell my breath all day.
So yes, I will brush my teeth again.
I'm going to put my lotion on
before we get to school,
just out of consideration of my peers,
because some of them don't like the smell of lotion.
Mainly the guys.
They hate the smell of lotion.
The girls love it.
They all ask if they can use my lotion.
But this year, or today at least,
I will put it on before school.
Now we're good.
So Chad is going into 10th grade,
which is technically his second year of high school,
but his first year of actually going
to the high school building.
And he, I'm really, he looks very nice.
He's wearing a Nike outfit,
but you want to know what was Nike.
His hair.
That's the, that's the struggle.
But you know,
as long as he's happy with the way it looks.
Hey, I asked all my friends,
and they said that they like it more random
than fixed to the side.
And you're happy with the way it looks?
Mm-hmm.
Good.
I like it.
That's all that matters.
Are you excited for school?
Yeah.
I'm going to miss this person.
I can't wait until we get home and see you.
Oh, I know.
Honestly, if you leave the house
for even five minutes and come back,
he acts like he hasn't seen you in two years.
And so, if we're gone for eight hours,
he's going to be so excited,
and I can't wait to see him.
Pictures have been taken and posted.
Prayers have been said.
The water bottle has been filled,
and now it's time to go.
I do need some gas.
We're going to have to stop and get some gas,
but it's going to be so weird not going with you guys.
Who am I supposed to sing Bohemian Rhapsody with?
We had so much fun singing our songs,
and now, it's just me.
It's okay though.
It will be the most epic concert
that no one will ever be able to see.
I'm not even a mile from my house,
and I already got honked at
because I was going to turn left,
and the light turned yellow,
and I had to turn, right?
Otherwise, I would have gotten hit,
and the cars would not stop running the light,
and so I had to turn on a red light,
and then I got honked at.
It's fine.
Okay, let's fill up with gas.
All right, we are here.
My first class is English,
and then I have history,
and then a free period.
Free periods are honestly such a waste of time,
especially on the first day of school
when there's no homework to do anyway,
but like I said,
I'm not filming in classes this year.
It's just a little different.
Everyone's still kind of adjusting to stuff,
so filming would make that so much more stressful,
so not going to be filming in class,
but I'll definitely let you know how it all goes,
so wish me luck.
This will be fun.
All right, first day of school is over.
It was definitely interesting,
you know, adjusting.
All the teachers had to figure out
how to use the cameras to be able to,
you know, broadcast live.
It was really good though.
Like, it was way fun.
I just got done with practice,
volleyball practice.
It was really boring.
Honestly, it was just learning rotations
for all the kids that don't know it,
and took a long time,
but it was good to get it over with and done with,
and now playing will be much easier.
So I'm going to go home.
I'm really hungry.
I think we're doing sloppy joes for dinner,
so that will be good.
It is so hot on it.
That's the worst thing about coming into the car after,
is like everything is hot.
This camera has been sitting in my car,
which probably wasn't good,
but it's really hot to touch,
so I'm going to turn it off.
We're going to go home.
I did have to stop at...
Wow, that saw is really loud.
I had to stop at the store to get some index cards,
and some colored pencils for anatomy.
He said colored pencils just help,
like when you color diagrams,
helps make it easier,
and index cards.
He straight up said he's like,
this class is not about applying information,
which most classes are about.
He was like, you simply just have to memorize everything,
and that's what the test is.
So sorry, I'm trying to like grab everything.
I want to film Dwight's reaction,
because that is the only real thing besides food
I look forward to coming home.
Just kidding.
I like seeing my family too,
but especially Dwight.
Okay, let's go see him.
Every time I come in,
it's like my backpack, my gym bag,
water bottle, groceries.
Okay.
Hey.
Hi, Dwight.
I'm going to put my stuff down,
and then I'll pet you.
Good boy.
I love you.
Okay, now that I'm home,
I do have a few things I need to do
that I didn't anticipate at the beginning of the year.
So most of my classes are saying,
I don't want you to turn in paper,
which totally makes sense.
So a lot of it is online,
and I don't like...
I mean, I love taking notes by hand.
I love it like on paper and pen,
but it's just so much binders to carry around,
and I got this laptop so that for college and stuff,
I could be able to just do it like digitally,
and so I checked with all my teachers,
and they're all good if I take notes on that.
So luckily, it's charged for tomorrow,
but I use this pen to write,
and it wasn't working,
and I couldn't figure out why,
and then I figured out it's
because someone took out the battery in it,
which is so strange,
because it did have a battery in it,
and it worked,
but then I checked,
and someone took the battery out,
which I don't know.
I don't even know which way to put it in.
I guess we'll figure it out.
So I'm going to get that pen ready.
I also need to get my volleyball...
Volleyball bat.
Are these the wrong ones?
No, I got the wrong batteries.
Oh, that's so disappointing,
but I got a AAA,
but which one is smaller than a AAA?
Oh, that's so sad.
I'm going to have to see if we have any.
I need to get my volleyball bag ready for tomorrow.
Yeah, I didn't tell you guys
a lot of the times of stuff that I'm doing right now
just because I kind of want to do a school routine
just because it's a little different this year,
and it's just a tradition.
I do it every year.
So I'm going to close the vlog here.
We're going to eat dinner as a family.
Overall, today was really fun.
It's definitely different,
but I'm so grateful that I can be back in school,
and stay tuned for this year.
Lots of fun videos.
Thank you guys so much for watching.
By the way,
if you have any tips on how to not have your glasses fog up
when you're wearing a mask,
please DM me if you know how to do that,
because that would be super great.
Thank you guys so much for watching,
and we'll see you next time.
Bye.
