Music attributions:
Happy Sunday afternoon.
Today is December 1st,
which means that we have to celebrate
by doing something Christmasy.
Tonight we're gonna watch a Christmas movie as a family.
But today, and right now,
we're making sugar cookies
in the shape of gingerbread men.
Grandma gave these to me when I was,
how old was I?
Was I like Eve's age?
But just little gingerbread men,
and we've used them every year.
So we're gonna get started.
My battery's gonna die,
so I'm gonna change the battery.
But we're gonna use mom's recipe,
and let's get started.
I remember we,
okay, we need cup of sugar,
cup of butter.
So one of these,
yeah, so two of those.
Do you wanna put that in?
I'll get the,
yeah, I don't,
that's kinda gross.
It looks like someone just like ate it.
Or maybe spread it on toast.
But it's fine.
Yeah, I think it's baby's toast.
Get that out,
and these out.
Every Easter, when we were little,
mom would always make sugar cookies.
Like when you cut them out,
and she'd show that we don't have to be perfect.
We mess up,
but we can start again.
And we can be like reborn,
kind of like Easter.
But now we're gonna do it on Christmas.
Yeah, you get eggs represent.
Yeah.
Now we need the sugar.
Is there no sugar in there?
I think Abby went to fill it up.
Because I don't know where any of the family is.
I will admit,
this part is the most boring part
about making cookies.
When the dough is done,
it has to sit in the fridge for an hour.
It does?
Yep, sorry.
It makes it so it is thicker,
and I think firmer when you cut it.
I don't actually know why.
But then we cook it,
and then they have to cool,
and then we can.
For the frosting,
I want to do red and green frosting.
Yeah?
Yeah, it's literally all just powdered.
The ingredients is literally powdered sugar,
milk, and vanilla.
That's all it is.
Yep, that's kind of gross.
Thank you guys for helping me.
We're doing the hard part.
All the kids are gonna get to do the fun part.
Guys, I love that this beater is so quiet.
Remember our last one?
It was like.
Okay, let's mix this up.
Next is three eggs.
Let's try to make this not how the cake was.
Remember that?
Julie took the egg and just went.
Yep.
So yeah.
Are there no more eggs in here?
No, they're in here.
They're in here.
I'm better at cracking with two hands.
With two hands?
I don't like this.
It's okay.
Look it, Julie,
I think you are the best egg cracker ever.
Abby, you're pretty good too, I guess.
Next we need three and a half cups of flour
and a tablespoon of baking powder.
So Abby, get the flour.
Julie, do you want to film me doing the baking?
Is it baking powder or soda?
Baking, baking powder, baking powder.
What's the difference, do you guys know,
between baking powder and baking soda?
This one is more powdery, I guess.
We don't have any.
Do we have any more?
Is this?
That's baking soda.
Where's the powder?
No, this is empty too.
Use a half cup.
So if it's three and a half, two, four, seven of those,
I'll go downstairs and get the baking powder.
I'll be right back.
I will say, I like this recipe because it's really easy.
Abby, how much was that?
That was six.
Okay, one more.
Then we'll mix it up.
Let's see if this actually turns into dough.
Okay, get the saran wrap out.
Are you still eating it?
I'm putting it away.
I can see why we're putting it in the fridge
because right now, feeling it, it's really soft
and it would fall apart really easy, I think.
I feel like we should have a better way
of holding the cling wrap.
I feel like we've advanced in technology enough.
Put this in the fridge and at 120, we'll come get it, okay?
Okay.
Okay, let's check on the dough.
We left it in a bit longer than an hour.
It should be like half an hour longer than an hour.
Here, Julie.
40 minutes.
I will roll it out for you guys.
Mom always does this by putting the dough
in between parchment paper.
That way, it doesn't stick to the counter.
No one wants to watch you make cookies.
They want to watch me make a protein shake.
If you guys would like to see Dad make a protein shake,
maybe he can do a video on how he makes it.
Okay, turn that camera over here.
So first, I put in two scoops of protein powder
with two cups of water.
Then I put in a banana and I broke it into little chunks.
The next ingredient, and this is important,
we're gonna make a protein shake.
Sorry, Shari, this isn't your video anymore.
This is called an avocado, an avocado.
Say it with me, so we know.
Avocado.
Very good.
And this is packed full of what I call nutrients.
Do an avocado dance, Dad.
Avocado.
Look better, Julie?
Okay, why don't you guys come.
Make sure you always stay close to the sides
so that we can get as much out of it as possible.
What are all your guys' favorite cookies?
Dad, let's start with you.
Protein.
Oh, okay.
Abby, what's your favorite kind of cookie?
I don't know, Abby.
Chocolate chip, peanut butter, I know Chad's.
Peanut butter.
Abby, you don't have a favorite?
Julie, what's your favorite?
I don't know.
Russell, what's your favorite?
Gingerbread.
Yours is gingerbread?
Yeah.
Russell, do you have one?
Snickerdoodles.
My favorite cookie, I like chocolate chip.
Just any chocolate chip, especially Mom's.
Mom's are really good.
Guys, these are looking really good.
Last year, all the arms were falling off.
Do you remember that?
Oh, yeah.
Hey guys, can we pass around the cookie cutters, Eve?
Sharer, we should get a subscription to A&E.
For what?
Live PD?
Yeah.
I got Chad into the TV show Live PD.
Whenever we go to a hotel,
I sit myself in bed and I watch Live PD
because we can't watch it at home.
That's the one we found on YouTube
because we were like the download.
Chad always made fun of me for it,
but now he's starting to get into it too.
Okay, how's it going?
I can't make a cookie.
Why?
Well, it's a little toothed.
Oh, now it's toothed.
I think it'll be good.
And also crunchy because you smashed up.
Okay, we'll finish this batch
and we'll show you the finished product.
You guys, it's falling apart.
You're making it worse.
I feel like we try to have fun family activities
and we're still at the age that we fight.
Mom, you're just trying to control it.
All of mine are perfect.
I'm gonna make all of mine are perfect.
None of mine are allowed to touch.
You're gonna make your own?
Wait, hold on.
Oh, are you gonna prick it?
You might have to make it pretty big
because when it bakes, it like swells up.
That's really smart.
So you guys can mark the ones you wanna frost
and I'll roll out the dough
and we'll show you guys the pan.
This one's ready to go in.
I really like that, Abby.
I think it's cute.
Russell's doing one too.
I hope the little ones don't burn
but we have another pan ready
and we'll do that one now too.
Abby, are you done?
There's no room for it.
Put it like right here and then we'll put it.
Abby, do you wanna put it in for 11 minutes?
What color do you guys all wanna do?
Red and green.
Well, should we just do one batch?
No, no.
You really wanna make two rolls of frosting?
If you want to, you can.
It's up to you.
Okay, Julie's gonna make the frosting
and put red and green food coloring in it.
So we'll look at Julie when she's done.
This is green enough, right?
Green is a way to describe it.
Yes, it looks good.
It looks more like blue.
Yeah, but it's good.
And you're gonna do the red one?
Yep.
Perfect, thank you for doing that, Julie.
How's it coming?
Is this Eve's?
Yeah, that's my Halloween one.
Okay, Abby left us.
They think they're too cool to bake cookies.
She only wants one.
We'll finish up this one now.
Before I call the kids up,
I know that the second they come up,
I won't be able to frost any cookies.
So I'm gonna frost one before they come up.
Julie was very kind and made the frosting.
The cookies are somewhat cool,
but I'm gonna pick one.
We're gonna frost it.
Nice and simple.
It's not pretty,
and I definitely did not use a piping bag,
but it's all going to the same place
and it tastes good anyway.
So now we'll call up the kids
and we'll frost some cookies.
Do you guys want to come frost a cookie?
What are you watching?
They're listening to Christmas.
Mariah Carey.
Wait, why are you putting it in the freezer?
The icing will freeze.
Oh, did it taste good?
Did you take a bite?
Mm-hmm, it was good.
Was it?
Yeah, it was good.
Okay.
How are you guys?
I don't want to cover all of my awesome decorating.
Make sure it doesn't drip through the holes.
That'd be bad.
Don't worry, the baking covered up the holes.
Oh, okay.
You guys, we have lots of cookies to frost.
These ones just came out.
Russell, what do you think?
Which ones are yours?
I have no idea.
Was it this one?
You said his mouth was open.
Why?
He was singing,
and you guys made some Halloween scary ones?
Yeah.
Yours that got shot turned out,
it looks like it has chicken pox.
Wait, what are chicken pox?
Kids don't know what chicken pox are anymore.
Oh, Julie.
I asked you.
Those days in the past,
remember the Black Plague, those days.
Kids these days don't know.
Why don't I just tip it over and dip it in?
Oh, I guess you could do that.
Do you guys want, like,
Chad, uh, uh.
Ooh.
Good idea.
Hey, set it on a paper towel.
Great job, me.
Chad, Abby, are you going to take a bite,
or are you just going to dip it?
Everyone's dipping it now.
Is it going to fit?
Oh, let me see.
Let me see, let me see.
No, no.
His arm's falling off.
No!
Oh, arm's gone.
That looks scary.
Let me see it.
That's terrifying.
How does the frosting taste?
Good.
Not that good.
You're welcome.
Okay, let's not use all the frosting.
We still got, like, a whole batch,
but they look really, really good.
Okay, uh, where's the other one?
Let's finish up frosting these cookies.
Here's the results.
Julie claimed her own.
This one actually looks pretty good.
Thank you.
Good job.
Yeah, I came up with the idea of just dipping it in.
Yep, and that helped,
and made this all go by a lot faster.
So we're going to wait a little bit until we frost these,
but we're going to close the vlog right now.
What are you doing?
What are you, what is?
Did you redraw the holes
so it didn't look like it got, like, shot, inverted?
Are you cleaning up the holes?
Yeah.
Well, it looks good.
Do you guys want to help me close the vlog?
We're not good at closing.
Abby hates closing vlogs.
It's so funny.
Every time we ask,
at the hotel, I burn myself with water.
Ooh, it's bad.
Yeah, she's got a burn on her finger,
but thank you guys for watching.
Thank you.
Abby, what else did we say?
Bye.
Abby said,
I asked her to close the vlog once,
and she was like, bye.
I was like, that's not how you do it.
It was so funny.
I put the camera on her face.
I was like, Abby, close the vlog.
She just said, bye.
Comment down below your guys' favorite kind of cookie.
Dad, is yours really a protein cookie?
You've never had one of those.
When you did, what was your favorite?
You ate one today, Dad.
I like chocolate, too.
He ate a cookie today.
No, I had a part of a cookie.
But it was a big cookie.
Yeah, Dad.
It was a little part of a big cookie.
Yes, that's okay.
Thank you all for watching.
Comment down below your favorite cookies.
Would you eat these cookies?
No, no cookies!
If you remember the cake we made,
I would, we threw that cake away
the second we turned the video off.
We didn't show you that,
but we turned off the camera.
We're like, all right, let's dump it,
and we threw it in the garbage can.
But I would eat these cookies.
These aren't bad.
They look good.
We'll see you guys.
The green does somewhat resemble mold,
but it's okay.
So we'll see you guys next time.
Thanks for watching.
Bye!
