GTA In Japan - The Guys Behind The Viral Series
Hi, I'm Hayaken from Komazawa Isolation.
I'm Ganso from Komazawa Isolation.
The two of us are mainly game creators.
The first episode of the series has already racked up 1.7 million views on YouTube
and over 23 million on Twitter in just a few months.
By breaking down the moves of their viral hit first episode,
Hayaken and Ganso have graciously agreed to teach us some tricks
and show us the correct way to GTA in real life.
But first we want to know, how did this series come about?
When I was hanging out with my friends,
I made fun of them and made them laugh.
Everyone said it was funny,
so I thought if I made a video of it, people from all over the world would laugh.
Also, because of COVID-19,
I wanted to do an outdoor project as a YouTuber.
Since there are no people, I wanted to do something that only people can do.
That's why I wanted to create a game world.
There are me, my partner Ganso,
the cameraman and editor Shunpi.
There are three of us in the team.
Also, I asked my dancer friends if they could help me out.
There are dancers, freelancers,
people who work part-time.
People who work at a company,
came out to me and said,
you were in that video, right?
Even as we were filming this interview,
the guys were spotted by a Starstruck fan,
who they kindly stopped to have a chat with and take a photo.
Thank you!
I've been a YouTuber for about a year and a half,
and I finally got a buzz.
At first, I was going to finish with 1 and 2,
but 1 got a lot of buzz,
so I hurriedly added 3 and 4,
and it took a little over two months.
I didn't think it would come from a world like this.
I was able to get more than three views.
The highlight of our video is the location,
so where to shoot it.
The first buzz was that we shot it in Shibuya,
so we became famous.
Next time, I'd like to shoot it in Times Square.
But in Japan,
I'll be careful not to get shot overseas.
I can definitely agree with Hayaken that,
for a lot of people,
seeing Shibuya so empty was a big part of the initial interest.
For me though,
one of the key factors to the success of their video so far
has got to be the perfectly replicated,
janky and often comical animations found in games.
As it turns out,
there's a very logical reason as to why they're both so good at it.
I'm a dancer,
so I can move my body in a sensitive way,
even the smallest details.
So if you look closely at the characters in the game,
you'll be able to imitate them.
We're both doing different dances,
and we're both shooting different titles.
What I do a lot is
shaking my arms,
sticking out my chest,
and stepping on my feet.
I do pop dance,
which is a kind of robot dance,
which is the main genre.
Although Heiaken usually plays the role of the protagonist,
Gansou's contribution is just as important,
often playing the supporting roles of many different side characters,
who further enhance the actions of Heiaken.
While seamlessly performed by the duo,
being a video game character in real life
is actually a lot harder than it looks,
as Yasu is about to find out.
So now,
Heiaken-san is going to teach me how to do the GTA basic moves.
So...
Thank you.
Yes.
This is...
You know,
the turn around move.
I think it's quite cheap.
And then...
One, two...
And...
Yeah, it seems complicated.
I'll try.
Um...
Boom.
And then...
Ah...
Yeah, so...
I'm kind of excited that he's gonna punch me, you know.
He's gonna throw some punches and gonna kick me.
Take it well, Yasu.
I'll do my best.
Nice.
That was good.
That was amazing.
That was so good.
He's amazing.
Thank you.
Yes.
I'm making this game for people who don't know how to play the game.
On the other hand,
I know how to play the game because I'm familiar with it.
So I'm particular about the details.
If you comment in simple English,
we can understand what you're saying.
If you do that,
it will motivate us in the future.
So please recommend this game to your friends.
If you'd like to check it out for yourself,
we've left a link to the Komazawa Isolation YouTube channel
down in the video description.
And if you haven't already,
be sure to subscribe to Japan Pro
for new videos every single week.
Thanks for watching,
and we'll see you again in the next video.
