Dramatically modern tiny house designed for a geek

What's up my lovely people on YouTube? This is Phil and this is GP behind the camera and today we're doing the last video tour of the year 2019 and this is another Magnolia. So this house is the third version of the Magnolia. It's a 36 by 10.5 feet trailer but we have a two feet bump out so that the total of the house is 38 feet. This house is again very unique. We stepped out of our comfort zone again with this house. So as you can see we have a red door for the first time because our customer has a lot of modern taste and she really wanted that red door so we installed her and we also think it's very pretty. Another thing we have on this house is there is no wood at all on the exterior finish. It's only standing seam steel siding with hidden fasteners. It gives a pretty slick modern design and it's very durable. There is no maintenance on this kind of exterior finish. In fact it's the very same steel siding we use on our roof. There's not a lot to say on the exterior of this house but one thing I could say is that this house has two heating systems. The first one will be the split unit. We have a bigger split unit on this house because of the fact there are two heads inside the house. I'll show you in a few minutes. The machine is a little bigger on this house. Another interesting feature I can show on the exterior of this house is this customer. She loves cats. I don't know how many cats she has but she has at least one. At first she wanted one cat door and then she changed her mind for two cat doors. The first one is here just beside the entrance. There is a very nice black cat door and there's another one you can follow me. There is another one up there because she's going to build an outside kind of balcony for her cats. A catio I think I can say. That's what she's going to install there. Her cats are going to live a pretty jet-set life. Another last thing I could say is that this customer is very technologic. She loves technology. I think she's a gamer. That's one of the reasons why she wanted a lot of outlets on her house. Just on the exterior finish, you can see there is one there but there is eight exterior outlets like that just on the exterior. I can't count how many there is inside. Talking about the inside, let's go in right now. Welcome inside this very very white and magnificent house. This is very unique. This is the first time we, for example, use some shiny black cabinets like that. Another thing is the white kind of marble style flooring. It's a first for us. Also, everything gives a pretty unique look on this house. Yes, again, we're kind of very proud of this last house of the season. Here, when you come in, you have the entrance area. There will be some hook there for the coats and everything. Here, you come in the main living room like most of our tiny house. Here will be a couch. Here, you have a lot of storage but there will be everything, all the electronics for the TV, the cable, and everything. Here, you have the electrical panel right there. As you can see, everything is labeled so we can make sure everyone understands. Yes, it's a good thing. This house is a 100-amp power source. For example, if you have like most of our customers in the future will have an electric car or some of our customers already have one, you kind of really need to have a 100-amp power source because you need a 40-amp breaker just to plug your electric car. In this house, you could plug your electric car. Here is the main office area. There will be the TV there that you can move the side you want. Like I said, she's a gamer. There will be I think two screens there and a desktop computer and everything is there. You can see under, you have three outlets there with six USB plugs right there. There will be a big office area here. Then, as you can see, there is the first cat door right there. You can take a look at the finish. It's all aluminum panel inside and the cat just have to go there. It's very well insulated. I feel like it's pretty much like a window. Of course, when it's very cold outside, you may feel a little cold there like a window but I think this kind of a cat door is very nice. Again, the red door is white inside and I think it's the first time we use a kind of door like that. I think it's very pretty, don't you? Now, you can see the rest of the house but I'm going to start with this area. Next to the office space, you have kind of a lunch countertop spot. There is a place for two people to eat there. It's kind of designed for that. You have two shelving under there for more storage. Now, the kitchen. The kitchen is all on one side. On this house, we have the usual led strip. We always use now to light the countertop. We have a quartz countertop and it's white again. The design is one of my favorite kitchen design. We have an undermount granite kitchen sink with the black faucet there. This one is an automatic one so we use 2A batteries under there and when the water is plugged in, you just have to move your hand like this and the water comes out. Here, we have a propane cooktop. Then, the built-in microwave oven, there is under the cooktop. Here, you have this nice spice rack just beside the cooking area. Of course, the usual, we always install range hood on top of the cooktop. Again, plenty of storage for the kitchen. We also have, I didn't talk about it, but we also have a small Bosch dishwasher. Everything is there. Here, at the end of it, we have a stainless kind of apartment size fridge, 11 cubic feet, JP said. Then, that's pretty much it for the kitchen. On the other side, we have one of the nicest stairs we've ever built. We have this exterior end rail, custom-made. I think it gives a very, very nice look to the storage stairs. We have, instead of the usual pull-out step, we have a fixed step. It's not movable, but we have a bigger dryer there. We also have one there. Plenty of storage in this stairs. This area is designed for the litter box for our fancy cats. There will be an automatic litter box in this hole there. Here, in the staircase, you have the pull-out pantry. Here, you have plenty of storage for our stuff, but mainly for customer stuff. Here, we have another big wardrobe. This could be the entrance wardrobe. Under there, there is the power supply and everything we need for the second heating source there is in this house. The two first heat source, like we were talking outside, is the split unit. Then, here, you have the air intake for the propane heater. If the customer needs it, she could close or turn off her mini-split. She could, for example, leave the house for three weeks in the winter and just make sure she starts here, the propane heater. Then, we have two exits, one in the bathroom and the other one right there in this staircase. Again, I don't know if you know the Magnolia design, but in the Magnolia, we have a loft upstairs. In this house, it will be a guest loft. Then, you have to go through the bathroom to go in the main bedroom. Let's take a look at this bathroom. When you come at your left, you have the Bosch washer and dryer like we usually install in our houses. Here, we have the mechanical room. You can see there is a water heater there. There is a power supply for the lead strips. You have the small particle filter. There is still some more space to store anything the customer would store there like some room or everything. Then, here, everything is pretty compact, but everything is there. Here, you have a very big storage for everything you need in the bathroom. Very deep. Now, here, you have one of the biggest, I think it's the biggest shower we install. It's a 42 by 32 inches shower. It's a very, very big shower, plenty of space for a tall guy like me, but I think it's still six feet four inside the shower. Then, here at my right, you have the bathroom sink with still a black cabinet. As you can see, there is no mirror there because our customer is going to install her own mirror there, but there will be a light inside this mirror. That's why there is a wire there. That's one of the things we can do. If you have a mirror you already have and you want to install it, we can design a place for it. Here, you have a standard flush toilet, but we also install an outlet there in case the customer wants to change for a composting toilet or if she needs it, there is an outlet. I think, Pippi, you can show the very clever idea our design team had. This is a recess kind of area. It's for the toilet paper, so it's a very nice place to store the toilet paper. Again, some more storage there. Here is the main bedroom. There is an LED strip right there. It's designed for a queen-size bed, so the queen-size bed is going to go right there in the middle. You have a big window on each side of the bedroom. Another thing is the second split unit head. It's good for AC and for heating. Up there, it's designed for a TV. You can see there is an outlet there because they're going to install a TV, just a smaller TV to watch in the bed. There is the two big windows. There is a little difference between those two windows. The main difference will be this is the emergency exit window, so that's why she's a little bit different than the other one, but plenty of natural light inside this bedroom. As you can see, there is no loft on top of the bedroom, so you really feel like it's a very big space in here. I think that's one of the reasons why this manual design is one of our most popular because I think it can accommodate more people because of the fact there is a bedroom on the main level. Now, let's take a look at the storage or guest loft. As you can see, I'm six feet two and I can stand on almost the last step. We did the stair where the ceiling is the highest. When you come in, I think it's a queen-size loft. It's a very big loft. I think it's 10 by nine feet. There is two windows. One you can exit and one you can just open there. As you can see, you have the other cat door. That's where the cat is going to go to chill on the cat seal. Our customer is going to build for her cats. This is designed to have a bed on this side for the guest. Again, the white floor gives a very bright space. It's very nice how the lights reflect on it, I think. This is already the end of the year and the end of the last video tour. One thing I wanted to say is again, thanks. We had an amazing year, 2019. One thing I wanted to say is that it's still possible for you guys to order your own manual design for 2020. As you can see, there are many different changes we can do to the design to make sure it accommodates you and your needs. As you can see, if you want a cat door, it's possible. Sometimes, we have to say no because it's not possible at all. When it's possible, we usually say yes. One of the questions we always have is, we kind of don't understand why, but people always ask if we deliver to United States. Yes, we deliver everywhere in Canada and United States. Yes, it's possible. This house is going in Washington state, so it's very far away from here. Of course, the delivery price will be higher than if you order a house from the town near you or in your town. The main reason why we can still be competitive in our high-end tiny house market is mainly because of the currency now we have for the exchange rate with Canada and USA. That's pretty much why we can build some high-end tiny houses and still have the delivery cost and still be competitive with the market, high-end tiny house market. Don't be shy. You can compare the prices for maybe a tiny house builder in your area and make sure you really know what's inside the walls and what is the material they use.
