Bricklaying Building Segmental Brick Arch
The sunshine is here and I've got a nice interesting job to show you all.
Next job is we've got to sort this arch out here. I'm going to extend it across.
So I'm just trying to work out how I'm going to do this.
What I'm going to do is I'm going to mark everything dry out on this board.
I'll prep everything, I'll do all the cuts, then all I have to do is just build it in.
It's going to be a test, but we can do it.
Just marking the edge where I'm going to cut it off, so we've got nice even 10mm joints.
Just prepping everything and cutting all the bits out.
That's where I'm going to put my prop.
We've got a really old newspaper here, so let's check the date.
Let's see in the corner.
Here we've got car prices.
Cortina 2.0 litre gear, Midnight Blue, £2,695.
Euromaxx, Wilcox Street off Walgate Wigan.
What the heck's that?
Volkswagen Polo.
You're looking at £4,000.
What's this we have here?
I brought you a great special.
Nice one.
A flat white.
Need it after this job.
You need it after this one.
And I'm going to form an arch and fix it underneath something.
We have cut our template now.
Our template is now in place.
I don't believe this.
The pull cord just broke on the saw.
Plan B, it's going to have to go into there, so I'm going to have to slightly wedge the joints.
I hate doing this, but it's going to have to be done in this case.
Just about to put the key brick in now, which is always the centre of an arch.
What?
Too much on it, isn't it?
I'd rather have too much on than not.
It's compressed in with each other, you see.
Looking good.
We are back to finish the creepers off in the top course, because we had no steel saw,
but it turns out I fixed the pull cord, so we're okay to go.
That's right.
Oh, yeah.
You get that quiet, don't you?
I bought a nice Danish pastry from Lidl, and my dad's eating it.
You got that, Dad?
Yeah.
It's hard work watching, though, isn't it?
So, it's what I've come here to do.
Going to get these off when our mortar's dry with some brick acid.
See, just cleaning down now.
Now, the next job is to put the French doors in.
Simple as that.
Finito.
