How to draw anime hands🙌with free material for hand practice.
Hello everyone this is Otegama I
often get comments saying "I can't
draw hands " To be able to draw
hands you definitely need to
practice
But there is an efficient way to practice
so that anyone can get better quickly
I will specially teach you this method
starting now so let's practice together
There are five basic points to keep in mind: 1 The
thumb is the shortest 2 The
middle finger is the longes
3 The index finger and the ring finger are about the same length
4 The little finger is slightly longer than the thumb
5 The thumb has only two joints
6 The other fingers have three joints eac
Just remember these five points
and let's start drawing right away
From here on is where it gets really important so
the practice method I recommend is drawing while
looking at your own hands
It's also okay to draw from
a photo Draw while looking at things you don't know
This is the best and fastest way to
improve You'll often see in textbooks
that you should first draw the ship's structure and then add the flesh
It says something like "let's draw in blocks " but
this takes a lot of time and
the drawing becomes stiff
This is really just a matter of my personal preference but I want a
sense of naturalness in the drawing
like capturing a sequence of movement
I want to draw a picture that feels like it's capturing a single moment
I really follow that line while looking at the photo
This is a photo I just took let's
try drawing it while looking at it
It's completely fine not to try to draw it perfectly from the start
This is how it's shaped now
a bit tilted downward
like this
Sometimes when you draw while looking at something it feels a bit off right
I often feel that way too
It feels off
When that happens let's measure the proportions
The concept of ratio overlaps with what I just mentioned as it also includes
things like the thumb being the shortest
or the middle finger being the longest
It's an extension of that for example
when trying to draw the middle
finger the length of this and the
palm's length are roughly the same
Drawing by comparing the length of lines
Most people start by
drawing faces when they draw
pictures then the body and
the hands moving on like this
When I thought my hand was a
bit strange I measure the ratio
with the face for a face this
size what size should the hand be
I check if I'm drawing it correctly
By the way how big do you think the hand is
I think there might be individual differences
depending on the person but generally most people's hands
are about the same size as their face or maybe a little smaller
I think people with small faces often
have much larger hands but
roughly speaking they're about the same size as the face Don't just draw the hands by themselves
It is important to continue drawing
while comparing faces and bodies
You often see artists posing like this
that's what they do when they take photos
they're actually measuring the proportions
it's become such a common image of an artist
Measuring ratios is really important
Please measure the ratio I would
like to put into
practice how it feels
to draw while measuring the ratio
First this part of the finger bone
I'll start drawing from here
Here we are measuring the length around here This first curve
here isn't it The length from here
to here and from here to here is
I think it's about the same size
This turn is quite gentle
When you think about the thickness of the finger
The length between these joints
How thick the finger is relative to this length
you look at
The thickness of the finger relative to this length
Well it's about a two-to-one ratio isn't it
It's okay to be rough and ready
How long is the end part of this finger
It's about this height when you look at it
I'll say that's it here
I'll end with my finger
The skin where the thumb is growing feels stretched
It comes out around the middle of this
length These sides are parallel
There's a thumb growing here
The thumb joint is here from this finger joint
It's located near this joint right
And there's a nail like this
Let's draw the middle finger
That's right
I think most people can probably get the idea here
The thickness of the fingers is
generally about the same so imagine
that the middle finger is also
about the same thickness right here
Pressing it with the finger and bending it
The tip of the middle finger peeking from this side
Below the joint of the thumb here
It comes out from around here
That's right
But it's already becoming a claw
I'll keep extending it like this
Yes something like that
That's how it becomes
I think it's really important
to write while checking the ratio
So please try it a little
And now that I've given such a long speech you know
I think it's fine even if I don't do it
If the message you want to convey through the picture is understood then it's
already a good picture For example if
there's a theme of a person holding a cup
Even if your handwriting isn't good at
all even if it looks like this if you
do it this way people
can tell that it'
s a cup right If you write it like this
I guess you can probably tell that I
'm drinking something right It's not
that I'm good at it you know But it
still comes through
I think that's fine
So why do everyone
work so hard to practice
Because hands are really expressive you
know Even without drawing a face just the movement
of the hands can convey a lot
You can sometimes sense what a person is
thinking right now and you can also get a sense
of their character just by their hands For
example if you hold this goldfish like this
This person doesn't seem to like goldfish much
maybe they're a germophobe or something like
that it's conveyed just through the way they're
drawn you know if you
have this kind of character
I get the feeling that they really value it
don't you
That's what it is
Once you get into this situation
you can't show that kind of expression can you
Do you hold the cup from the
top or the bottom or with both
hands or just one It's in these
details that personality shows
It's very useful because the amount of information
in the picture increases It's not a problem that you
can't draw hands It's actually an advantage because
being able to draw them
expands your expressive range
It's true people
who are good definitely
work hard they definitely practice
a lot people who are good from the start
without any practice there are none
Probably no one is there
This world is definitely different
You know how many times have I drawn my life
I think I've probably drawn it about 30 000 times
I still think there's a lot of room
for improvement Although there are
many difficult parts let's all
practice and try our best to get better
