We bought Olympic Sport Climbing Barbie, harnessed her up and put her to the test. And just to make sure she didn't know something I didn't, I tried her beta myself. The we broke test the ATC wire (which is all she is attached to) and it broke at 6.45kn and then the non-shutting carabiners broke at 8.4kn. Please don't die because you tried the stuff you saw in this video, we are only trying to make you laugh in case you can't tell.

So we noticed a pro climber is using some futuristic techniques and we feel
like they need to be tested. The sport climbing olympic barbie here
it has some things that I've never seen before
and we're going to go over that in this video and what's weirder than making a
video about this is the fact you're watching it.
Hi I'm Ryan Jinks and welcome to a How Not To episode where we
are breaking gear fear or possibly creating
more fear about your gear in this episode.
Let's dive right into this we're trying to keep this family friendly.
We're going to dive right into this and see what kind of gear she's got.
Let's keep in mind this is a sport climbing barbie and
she has a non-traditional or olympic spec setup for her top roping sport
climbing gym competition that she's got coming up
and let's open it up and see what they included here.
We have here a harness without a belay loop. No this is very similar to gym
harnesses that nobody wants to use. And the next we have some futuristic
quick draws these are olympic spec with partial gates and an ATC with
I don't know a technique I've never seen before. So let's take barbie out of the
package here harness her up and put her on the barbie
size drop tower we got. It's got that creepy doll vibe going for
it. She's still tied up from her last
adventure. All right sorry barbie I screwed up your
hair. Oh my god I'm trying to keep this family
friendly. Keep your legs close. Does the harness come off? Oh it doesn't.
Oh my gosh her harness comes off. Okay oh this
feels dirty. Here you guys close your eyes and play with barbies enough.
Here let's give you some privacy this isn't only fans.
There we go looking cuter than ever. Bobby stop laughing the camera's
shaking. So I'm not quite sure what to think
about this harness. It's got a non-redundant button here in the back.
It also seems like it'd be awkward to get it on or inspect it.
And then it's got the largest gear loop I've ever seen especially for
a sport climber. I feel like you'd have to like lean way over in order to get
your quick draws. But we can experiment with that and
modify my harness to see if they know something I don't. The leg
loops are well they're not adjustable they just
open. Let's put this on uh barbie and take her
for a ride. That just sounds terrible. Like any proper harness you put it on
like pants and then you assemble it in the back
where it's easiest to get to. She's not exactly like
anatomically correct for some reason. Weird.
Do we want to do gate in or gate out Bobby? Uh gate in definitely.
Gate in okay. They're already kind of falling off. It's a real bummer the
gates don't close. But um I don't know it's uh olympic
approved apparently. So then we need to get her on belay. I
mean this isn't just two dudes in a workshop
playing with a barbie. There we go. Wow that is a stiff
quick draw. She is eating that ATC. We forgot something really important.
Hold on. The thing that tells everyone how
important she is. Did I just say important with two t's?
Yeah I was thinking you were adding extra t's. I love adding t's to things.
As long as barbie doesn't move around too much
she's safe. So now let's go to the little drop tower and tie her up.
Use your feet not your hands. Oh my god she fell off again.
Oh god damn her system sucks. All right are we good? We have climbing
Ryan over here. Safety knot up there. Very
important. ATC setup. Notice modified carabiners into the
belay loop. And then we have the chalk bag. How does
that chalk bag work for you Ryan? Staring into the sun. All right so
in order to chalk up I'm just gonna grab my olympic rated
chalk bag here. And let's see here. Wait. Bobby?
Need to re-tie in. Bobby has modified our carabiners for us
so we can properly use the olympic techniques that are out there
in order to connect directly. And this is the safest way apparently in the
olympics to top rope. Now I would like to pause the jokes for
a minute and say this is really really bad.
Please don't do any of this. Back to the jokes.
And the safety knot just like the tail of a figure eight you're always supposed
to add a knot that doesn't do anything. That's what this one is apparently. How
about you give me a belay Bobby and see if this actually holds. Let's do some
human testing. You know what makes me feel really good?
Is this rope is bomber. And there's two strands.
Yeah. Climbing. Hold on. Nervous. Ready? Gotcha.
Oh this is so uncomfortable. It's only attached to my
waist belt here. And I'm really nervous this ATC wire is gonna go.
I just look like most new climbers feel right now.
That actually grabs the uh the nuts a little worse than if you connect
both parts of the harness. Good thing barbie doesn't have those.
Oh that's true. This wouldn't be a proper how not to without a brake test.
Let's go find out how strong this is. Shocker.
The wire of the ATC is not that strong. I found something interesting.
Huh. So we heard it here and it deposited itself right in our trash can
here. Well that's that's where we want it. Imagine
that. That is a broken carabiner. So I'm trying
not to mansplain to barbie more than I already have. So I need your
guys's help to give her tips on how to do better.
Please leave the funniest comment you can below in the comment section
and we will pin the one with the most thumbs up at the top
and if you want we will send you the quick draw and for whatever weird reason
the barbie if you want that as a prize. Believe it or not we actually have some
really useful videos coming out that we are excited about.
As you can see the drop tower is half done
and make sure you hit the bell notification so you can
get notified every time we got a new episode coming out.
Don't forget to like this video. Cheers. Serious.
Serious face. So we noticed a pro climber is using some futuristic
techniques that need to be tested in order to find out if they're safe. We
need to work on that. Olympic sport climbing barbie here has
some things that I've never seen before. Oh god the jokes.
Bobby this is how we're spending our morning.
We could be changing the world but no no we're doing this.
This is a Grigri. You know how to present a Grigri.
Hi I'm Ryan Jinks and welcome to a How Not To.
