Good morning, it's Morano time!
Ladies and gentlemen, we are super excited here at Cars Unlocked because our first 2023
Nissan Morano has arrived.
This one is the Platinum Edition.
Now, for those of you who don't know, the Morano made its way to the Nissan lineup in
about 2003 and here we are with the latest version.
This is the top of the line and it has an MSRP of about $480.98 here in Canada in the
beautiful ruby red metallic here.
And we're going to go through the ins and outs to show you if this is the SUV for you
to buy.
Now let's start with the front end here and for 2023, there wasn't as much changes that
you would expect here, but the Morano is relatively the same as last year's model.
The one thing they've added though is the new Nissan emblem.
Whoa, look at that there guys.
Brand new emblem, looks great on the new Morano on top of this honeycomb grille.
And then it's in between our signature V-Motion grille, which is in chrome on this Platinum
model.
Now, if you don't like the chrome, check out our videos on the Morano Midnight Editions.
On our front end, we have full LED headlights and we have our forward sensors as well for
parking.
There's a radar for the Nissan safety shield.
That's going to help you with things like intelligent cruise control, automatic high
beam assistance.
It does have rain sensing wipers.
When you jump on the inside is where you really see the extra money that you spend on this
Platinum model.
First thing that you notice right away, you get this diamond quilted.
It's a semi-aniline diamond quilted stitched leather seat.
Very, very comfortable.
And with this Platinum model, you get the heated and air conditioned seats.
So if you're a fan of air conditioned seats, you got to go up to the Platinum.
It is an eight way power adjustable seat and you get two memory positions.
So you have two memory positions for your driver.
It does come with a remote starter if you want to start it up from a distance.
But for now, we're just going to push the start button and start it up.
You can instantly see the wheel move.
You can instantly see my seat adjust because I have the memory position set.
It is a power telescoping wheel as well.
Let's check out the infotainment.
And whoa, check out these 20 inch rims here on this Platinum Morano.
They are this Dart Hype aluminum alloy rim with your front and rear disc brakes on the back.
And then on the side profile of the Morano, everything flows to the back, which I love.
And then we have our 360 camera right on our mirror.
So that's going to help you when you're parking.
LED turning signals, lots of chrome accents throughout the side as well.
Chrome handles, chrome around the windows.
And then we have this lower chrome door sill there.
What they added when they redesigned this Morano in 2015 was this lovely floating roof style.
And Nissan's kind of took in that and put it into their whole lineup.
They blacked out this back pillar to make it kind of look like a floating roof, which I like.
And then you have your silver roof rails sitting on top.
That diamond stitching continues through the back.
Now, these seats are heated and there isn't a lot of space back here.
And this is what you would pay extra for by going up from the Rogue to like the Morano.
These seats are heated.
You have a USB and a USB-C.
You have that wood trim continuing all throughout.
And you can see my seat reclines back quite a ways.
Like I can recline back pretty far.
And that's just going to add for a little more comfier ride there.
We're on the road now.
This is probably my favorite part of doing these reviews, especially in the Nissan Morano,
because the Nissan Morano is just a stellar drive all the way around.
Everything is super smooth.
The hydraulic steering is very nice.
This Morano is a 3.5-liter, six-cylinder engine.
It's going to give you 260 horsepower and 240 pounds-feet of torque.
It's attached to a CVT, so that's a lot of power for a CVT.
And it does accelerate like a beast.
Like when you put your foot down, they certainly go.
Because it's a CVT, you don't get as much towing capacity as you would expect.
It's got 1,500 pounds of towing.
So if you are planning on towing, you're limited to about 1,500 pounds.
But you get pretty good fuel economy on this V6, 10.4 liters per every 100 kilometers combined.
I'm sorry to all my American friends, I didn't do the conversion.
But if someone could post the conversion in the comments, that would be great.
For infotainment, you get the nice Nissan Connect.
It does have the 8-inch touchscreen.
The touchscreen is tilted away, but this is all their most recent updated infotainment.
You have things like GPS navigation, which is going to load up here.
It is pretty responsive.
I can do things like pinch to zoom.
Sure enough, right after I say that, it doesn't respond.
But there it is there.
Pretty responsive.
It takes a little bit of getting used to.
And then you have, obviously, your ways to play music.
You have Android Auto, Apple CarPlay.
You can also do Sirius satellite radio and things like that.
Checking out the camera.
This is our forward camera.
And we have, when we put it in reverse, the backup camera, which comes on automatically.
You get the 360 view, and you can use it to parallel park and change a few different camera
angles.
And that brings us to the rear of the Murano here.
And we can see we got a new emblem there on the back as well.
Murano and Platinum all-wheel drive badging in chrome.
There is a trunk release right there.
And then we have our rear parking sensors as well.
There is a camera right below the emblem, right above your license plate too.
Let's check out the trunk here.
And this one comes with the foot-activated liftgate.
Let's see if I can nail it here.
Ah!
Right on the third kick.
We got it.
31 cubic feet of cargo capacity in the Murano.
And the seats fold down just with the levers here, which is really nice.
You have your spare tire right underneath.
And then you have a little hidden storage in the sides here.
But let's talk about the good and the bad about this car.
There's a lot of good as I'm going over it.
You can hear the excitement in my voice.
Everything is nice and tight.
The viewing angles, the seats are super comfortable.
You get those patented Nissan Gravity seats.
One of the things that I don't like or that I'm disappointed in
is that it doesn't come with the Nissan ProPILOT Assist.
So this is supposed to be Nissan's top-of-the-line SUV, luxury SUV.
And you don't get that Auto ProPILOT Assist
that they have in some of the lower models.
Like it comes in the Rogues, it comes in the Qashqais.
It should be in the Murano.
But because it's a hydraulic steering vehicle,
it doesn't work with the ProPILOT Assist,
which works with the electric steering.
However, you get a ton of safety features.
Like you get the Intelligent Cruise Control,
which is going to keep you a safe distance from the car in front
and you can set your car lengths.
You get the Blind Spot Monitor.
You have the Lane Keeping Assist and the Lane Deviation.
So when you deviate from the lane, it's going to notify you.
Heated steering wheel is great for the wintertime
and these front seats are heated.
You have the Nissan HomeLink with the garage door.
So if you guys are having trouble with that,
I have a full tutorial on my channel
of how to connect to HomeLink.
But everything is just a little bit more spacious.
That's why you're buying this Murano
versus some of its competitors.
You just have a ton of space, a lot of comfort,
smooth ride.
Overall, just a great driving experience.
And look at this sunroof here, guys.
It goes all the way to the back.
We've seen this on the channel before
because a lot of Nissans have them.
But check it out, full rear panoramic moonroof.
With this Platinum model,
you also get the upgraded sound system.
So it has 11 Bose audio sound speakers.
This song's for you, my man, Raymond Carter,
one of the best subscribers around.
♪ Take me to a very tall Cedar grove ♪
Wow, my guitar gently weeps by the Beatles
all through the Sirius Satellite radio.
Beautiful sound system.
Let's check out the back.
So that's a wrap on your video, guys.
If you guys have questions about the Murano, comment.
I work at St. Catherine's Nissan in Niagara, Ontario.
