Have fun in your gardens!
Janette, The Enthusiastic Gardener
Got some gardening this morning.
As you can see, the paving slab's well grown over.
And that's the finished product.
Before and after.
Just shows you, man, what you can do, innit?
The slabs I did yesterday.
Today I'm gonna give a quick demonstration
on how easy it is to do.
All you need is a spade.
Push the spade under,
and find the edge of the slab with your spade.
Push down, and do this all the way around.
Okay, so once you've cut all the way around,
simply pull the excess grass away.
Now, if the paving slab has sunken down a little bit,
like this one has,
just get your spade, lift,
and you simply get some sharp sand,
couple of handfuls, put the slab back in,
and it's lifted it up.
Let's see how it's done.
Easy peasy.
So in these times of not wasting anything at the moment,
you keep these pieces of turf that I've cut out.
Just keep them.
And if you come to see areas of weed like this,
you simply cut round them,
dig down a bit deep so the roots are out,
and place it with some sharp sand or some soil,
and then turf.
The piece of weed I dug out about an inch and a half,
inch and a half deep,
so you get all the roots out.
Then put some sharp sand in,
and just put a couple of bits of turf in,
and water it prodigiously.
So there's the finished patch.
Water it well,
and within a few days it should take roots.
It's a good way to use that waste,
to get that extra grass and not waste it,
and dig out some weeds at the same time.
