Good morning everyone. Janette here,
enthusiastic gardener. And it's a Sunday
morning. I've woken up very early, full
of enthusiasm. So, strike while the
iron's hot. And I'm going to be planting
all of my tulip bulbs. Last year, I
planted them in September. I did it
before the ground got cold and hard. It
was so much easier and they came up
perfectly. So, let me show you the ones
I bought and then I'm going to put it on
time lapse because
this is not my most favorite
job of the garden year, but it's so
worth it. So, I'll put it on time lapse
and I'll just whiz around and hopefully
it will go very fast. And I'm just going
to put them all in the bag, mix them all
up together, dot them around, and wait
until spring.
Here are my tulips. We have 105
tulips to plant today.
So, we've got a perennial mixed and they
I think all flower April stroke May. So,
I'm not quite sure. These ones are a
mixture. Then we have these variegated
leaves. Red riding hood with dark
striped foliage.
This are lovely copper collection.
Lots of those. And this is beautiful as
well. Chocolate orange.
And then finally we have the purple rain
fusion. So, 105 tulips, which I'm just
going to empty them all into this
carrier bag, and then they'll be
randomly mixed.
Off we go.
So, I just want to explain because I'm
just going to divide them all. We've got
105.
So we can do,
let me think, 21 time five. So we'll do
little little groups of five. 21 of
them. And I do want to plant. I've
decided this area here, which I have
cleared out. Need to move that. It's a
pulman area and it's in the wrong place.
It's in full sun. And I'll move that
over to the shade. But I would like to
plant this area. I'm not quite sure what
with yet. So, I'm going to put the
tulips
near the front, I think. But what I do
know that I'd like to do is I want to
divide these three sedum autumn joys,
which are beautiful
and they're so easy to divide. So, I'll
cut those in half.
Early spring or late autumn. So, I have
three. There's another one over there.
And I want to put three groups of them
in here because I think that will look
beautiful.
So,
I'm going to put these in the ground in
three spots, which is where I'd like the
sedums to go. And so, I don't want other
things in the way. And hopefully, if I
push them right down, it's not going to
be obtrusive.
And then maybe obviously the fountain
the fountain's going to come back around
here somewhere, but then I'd like to
plant some other beautiful things lower,
you know, do a little step down. Let's
put these in.
I think we'll have we'll have one here.
And well, I think I just put them evenly
evenly along the back.
We have one here
and then
have one in the middle.
Yeah. One here.
And then I won't plant any tulips there.
and I'll remember
next year that that's the spot for the
sedums.
And then I'll put little markers where I
plant the tulips.
So 21 groups of five. And then I'll just
disperse them
evenly around the circle
and that border there. And maybe some by
container garden.
Heat. Heat.
Heat. Heat.

That's it. I've done it. I'm so pleased.
So, we have 105. I could have bought
double to be quite honest. And it's made
me realize this area of the garden along
here, it's really hard to dig. I really
really must improve that area of soil
around there. That's got to be Well, I
have my compost. Let me show you my
compost. I have two compost bins. One is
down here,
and I've been collecting compost
for a couple of years. So, I think let's
have a look.
[Music]
Well, who knows? But I think at the
bottom,
you open it at the bottom. I won't open
it now, but that is definitely something
that I need to do. I did all my weeding
yesterday.
So, I wanted to do the weeding before I
tried to plant the bulbs. It's all
looking very nice.
and my other compost bin is around here.
This is woodland courtyard. Woodland
Courtyard has been rather neglected
this year. It's funny because I have
phases of things I'm excited about.
I mean, it was so lush and wonderful.
Here's my other compost bin.
Let's just have a look.
Well, I'm sure at the bottom there's
some nice stuff. The fat seers, they're
spid webs.
They're very, very happy here. And you
can see I have all this which grows
over. But we have a lot of blackberries.
Actually,
I think I've missed the slot for the
blackberries. They seem to have all
gone. So, I was too slow there.
Anyway, never mind. And uh yes, these
are the fatsia spiders webs. These are
the pots from all the perennials that
I've planted quite recently and didn't
do very much here at all.
So next year I might be have my
enthusiasm back again. I think I overdid
it last year and I loved over loved it
last year.
So bulbs are in. And as for the
daffodils, well, I have lots of lovely
daffodils,
but
what's happened is as I've been digging
and planting throughout the year, I keep
digging them up and I'm stuffing them in
anywhere.
So, it's going to be a random surprise
of
what they or where they come up. That
might look pretty. I'm going to fill
that with pansies when the contrast
pelgoniums have finished. I'll do that.
And
then over here, I will put little
markers in quickly so I know where the
tulips are. So if I do find anything
else to plant there, then I'll know
where not to plant.
Yes, I'll do that.
Thanks so much for joining me today. I
hope you're having fun wherever you are
in the world, in your gardens, and I
will see you again very soon. Thank you
so much for watching. I'm Janette. I'm
the enthusiastic gardener. Very happy to
have got my tulip bulbs planted. Take
care. Bye.
