Riding Captain Ahab, The Best ♦️♦️Trail In Moab!

Alright this morning. I'm gonna head up and do Captain Ahab. I was supposed to do that when I went to go do Falcon flow, but we just ended up not having time and we're trying to save our energy to do Portal and a bunch of other trails yesterday so today on my way out I'm gonna do Captain Ahab because I've heard from many people. That's one of the best rides here, so I Don't like always I have no idea what to expect so let's get geared up and go for a ride I've seen so many of those earth roamers around here and like dude look up the price of those those have a base price of like Six like six hundred thousand. It's insane All right Boom whoever put that there. Thank you cool It looks like we're gonna take the road for a bit So like right before we came they had they got like an inch of rain a lot of the roads have had a bunch of like Gravel on them things have been washed out so Kind of unique conditions, I guess but not a big deal. It's like if I follow this we get to Huh, we'll figure it out. This looks like us up ahead Whoo, I'm feeling it after this whole week according to my fitness shocker yesterday was the most strenuous Ride I've ever done since I've tracked My rides like the stats weren't crazy there's 22 miles 1,800 feet of climbing but It was just relentless So I want to go And if I go through this oh boy Have a sneaky feeling I'm not gonna be able to clean most of this ride Yeah, let's go ahead and walk This part nice riverbed style climb, I think that's where we're coming out right back there. I Think I'm on this Jeep trail for a little bit and then At some point. I think we do have our own dedicated climb This is what I'm looking for All right off the Jeep trail onto another Jeep trail, not a Jeep trail, but Might as well be This is Captain Ahab, not Captain Adab So it's not Dab Really should have looked up how long this loop was. I just know My friends did it in about two and a half hours I don't want to speak too soon, but I'm surprised I haven't seen any danger noodles. I Mean we saw one like on a bike path But otherwise that was it Think it'd be cool to see Rattlesnake or something out here from a distance. I know they usually Don't attack you unprovoked But I don't want to take any chances Whoo, I am a hot potato today Doesn't help that have a full face on But it's honestly like I was expecting it to be a lot worse And I've gotten kind of used to riding in a full face and it doesn't bother me too much as long as you take the Cheek pads out do a few other things Half show is definitely more It's definitely cooler. But yeah, especially in a downhose here. I don't mind having a full face I never thought I'd say that but here we are. Maybe I'm getting old All right, let's carry on How's it going, that's bad Howdy Have a good one guys Every single ride I've been on has had some sort of really cool view This might be the start of the Downhill Mmm. Hey, it's like Go back uphill See look at the map this is Start of one of the downhills All right time to put on a fresh set of gloves That way they're not sweaty. I think I got a bit more climbing to do but otherwise I think This is where most of the fun starts Let's make sure we're in fun mode We are in fun mode socks pulled up shreddy mode All right Let's see what we got here Very cool so far. Oh god Just like a little savage punch That is definitely a line right there There we go Gonna pass that up. Do you think I can go up and over this rock? Is that a bad idea? Looks like people have done it Yeah, we're good up here Yep, I actually really enjoyed climbing out here. I mean, I don't like being redlined But I don't know. It's kind of some more fun explosive style moves. Very fun to do Whoo. All right This is not quite as bad as I thought it was gonna be Kind of have to go slow to see where the trail is going in. It's definitely a purpose-built line Is there a better way to just? You see if you go fast enough you can catch that transition. I'll take this rock Think you want to go off To the left of that. All right, let's go do this one. There's a rock Smooth like butter All right, where to next? Which way? That punchy rock section or this punchy rock section. Reckon this one There you go Boom got it All right. It seems like it's going to be a bit of a downhill. Let's go ahead and Do a little water break. Oh Yeah, my tire feels a little bit low All right. Now we're on Captain Ahab Wow now, let's not fall here. That'd be no bueno It's a lot of sharp edges. I don't want pinch flat on I don't think I'm flying solo today and I Got a flat. I don't have a buddy to help pump up my tire. I just realized I have a tube But I don't have a way to inflate it on my other rides Some of us were carrying a tube and other people were carrying a pump. I Think this is a canyon that we climbed up on here we must have gone all the way around that top piece and Now we're on to the downhill shred There's a line back there. I saw there's a sweet drop but with How low my tire is feeling right now. You have to make some better line choices Because right now I'm in survival mode not shredding mode last thing I want to do is Have to walk back to the car It's kind of a bummer It is a real bummer, but that's just the way she rolls sometimes. Oh Man, I just want to bomb through this. I just know that's a really bad idea right now Trails over here This is it to I'll have to come back in do this trail Fortunately, it won't be on this trip Trying to finesse the bike over the trail right now basically being light on the bike is Just pumping. Oh, let's not go off the trail there either Got a wee bit of exposure Whoo If I was feeling frisky, you could definitely jump up onto that Right now it's not the time or the place Yeah well Noted for next time It's always good to kind of leave yourself a little bit hungry Leave a little bit on the table. So next time you come you have two things to look forward to Whoo. Oh, what is this? Oh Yeah, I just stopped to check my tire again. Yeah, I might have lost a little bit more air Where am I supposed to go here? All right Joe forks Really? Was that it? No Okay, I thought this was gonna go on for a lot longer. Well, that was really cool either way still bummed that got a little bit Mechanical situation But those things happen. It's about to happen. Let's ride. I mean, I already bent my crank messed up my dropper post lever How's it going? I bet you that's wicked fun Hello All right back through the creek crossing That spot was a lot deeper than what I went to before Not a chance All right, that ended up being a really fun ride despite the tire burping and having low pressure at the end. I Would love to be able to rip that last part But either way gives me something to look forward to when next time I come back here. I'll be able to do that again I don't know which trail was my favorite. I think I really enjoyed the whole experience riding portal from Gold bar Ridge like that or gold bar rim, whatever it was called. That whole experience was really fun Definitely one more strenuous rides. I've done in a very long time I'm bummed that I'm not gonna be able to check out Bartlett swash and Jedi Some of the other like trails like slick rock. I would definitely rather do those trails and Falcon Flow that trail was just it was okay. I think some people like it some people I didn't particularly love it But that's just how it goes.
