What I was doing is using the fingertip bring the clay
Toward the center so the base will be a bit smaller
So what I did was
Try to smooth the inside
This inside it's hard to get it
Slippery so I
spent some time
Put in water and the slip to lubricate inside and outside is easier. Just touch it up with water and
It's ready to go
but inside usually
It's a lot of friction. So you have to make sure it is slippery before you try to lift up your wall
Keeping the opening smaller
help a lot
Because you don't want to widen it and then try to move it in. It's harder
so
Keep the opening smaller and then you stretch from the inside
And you see that I'm spending quite some time to make sure the surface is slippery
So I'm adding water and slip to lubricate it and you don't need to use a sponge
You kind of drip a lot of water
Just enough water on your hand and then you coat it over the surface
That's all you need
That's why you see that I never use a sponge to try to pull and lift
So when I'm lifting
My initial lift is straight wall
But after that, I slightly pull it outward and then to the shoulder
Slightly pull inward so you already have the curve. It's easier
Now I think my wall is thin enough. So I'm starting to shape it
and if you like
You can use a wooden rib to remove all the finger marks
Before I use the metal rib to do the final shaping
So I'm slightly
Push the wall onto my rib and then use the rib to guide the wall
Slightly go up and then go in
And when you're using the rib, you don't need any water at all
Okay, it will be slippery enough on the outside, but inside you need to lubricate. Okay, so that's why I keep on
Getting the slip that I toss. Sometimes I toss the slip in and just get it to coat it on my finger and then
Use that to lubricate
Right, so I will take care of the bottom and
Then do the rim the last but see that I'm keeping the rim
Fairly thick so I have room if I want to make it smaller
So when I'm pulling I
Seldom touch the rim. I seldom pull the rim too thin. Keep the rim a bit thicker so that
Your foam is also
Hold it by the thicker rim better
So
The bottom
Has been taken care of so I'm going to keep on
Taking care of the shoulder here
Making sure that you don't want to stretch too much
This part here is easy to collapse if you stretch too much. So you want to keep this kind of a curve
And I'm using the sponge to clean up the inside before I
cross further
For the ripping I
slightly
The finger here slightly bend it. So and then the inside hand slightly push out the shoulder
So it follows the curve all the way through
from this point I
Slightly push and then this follow the curve
Okay
The whole shape looks good. I kind of lean back and check it out
Follow the curve all the way through now, I'm going to close the top a bit
You can use a sponge to slightly add a little bit of water to the surface so because
I'm going to draw the clay. I'm going to pour the clay a bit. So you want to be a slippery
You just use a sponge to just touch it up
And the fingers
The finger inside
Support it and the thumb outside to pull
Toward the center and the outside finger is kind of this finger is kind of a supporting
And move for that direction
Still I can feel a little bit thicker here, so I'm coming back here and do it again. Squeeze it
Lift it toward the center
right before I
close further
Before my finger can still reach inside to take care of here
See that the curve here is a little bit unfollowed
So I'm coming back here and push out from that
And then use my rib to support it to get the curve follow through from the bottom to the top
All right, I was using a
Sculpito tool, one of my Sculpito tool
This is large, medium and small. I was using larger tool to carve out all the
lines, straight lines
So this is my large one
This is the finished part of the
Moon jar
simple form but a lot of
carving decoration
Right, so hope this demonstration helped and
Next time I will probably make a larger one to show you
The difference between making a small one and a larger one
All right, so hope this helped. See you next time
