All right, I told you that I would make a sodium silicate texture
cover jar, lid cover jar again and using a large amount of clay. This is a pound of clay.
And I can even use a larger amount of clay. I'm just skin centering, meaning just move up
the clay from the outer part of the big amount of clay to just go up and down from the outer part.
So it's like skin centering. So I don't need to spend a lot of
effort to try to force the big amount of clay to go up and down.
Okay, and if you have trouble to make your bottom flat, you can use a tool. This is one of my tools,
number six. It's a compression stick using this part here to just take care of the inner part
of the floor. Very easy to do. Use that. You use both hands to go from the center.
Push the clay downward from the very center point and then just gradually
move horizontal to the corner of your cylinder.
Okay, so first I will use the texture. This kind of a lot of teeth. The texture
to draw horizontal lines. I'm brushing the sodium silicate over.
All right, so I reserve about two inches without brushing the sodium silicate over
so that I have a little bit of a soft clay that I can finish the top.
And now I'm going to use the torch to dry the surface.
Just to let you know, if you have a plastic bat, make sure you don't use the torch directly
and aim it to your bat. Otherwise, you are killing it. Okay, so but this is my bat. It's
very strong fiberglass plastic, so it's fine. But if you have just a commercial regular bat,
make sure you don't use the torch or even the heat gun. Otherwise, you are ruining your bat.
And then again, I'm going to use my number two half round rip to stretch it. Grab it in the
hole and then using this part, the curved part here, to stretch it out. So I just stopped
the video and you can see that the crackle texture is coming larger and larger.
So what I did was trying to compress the rim so the rim is a bit thicker and stronger.
So when I stretch, it's not affected, especially the shoulder part.
Right, so what I did was try to fine tune the shape so the overall shape is more like
a full moon, nice round shape. So I take my time to just focus on the spot that is not smoothly
run and then try to stretch it a little bit more so it looks more like a perfect severe shape.
Since I am making a cover jar, so the neck shouldn't be this tall. So I'm going to trim it.
My square shaped translucent belt. Same material. Making the lid.
Right, and then I will show you the trimming fitting that lid and the body later.
