*NEW* Bedroom Refresh | Thrift Furniture Makeover | Bedroom Makeover On a Budget

Hey guys, welcome back to another video. You might be confused by the title of this video because we just renovated our bedroom. But when we did this room, I never finished this back wall, like where my TV is. It's always just been a blank wall. And I, for the life of me, could not figure out what I wanted to do here. So I wanted to just leave it blank until I officially decided what I wanted to do with this space. So that is what we are going to be doing today. We are going to just give this bedroom a little bit of a refresh, add some paint to this wall and do a fun few decorating ideas as well as a thrift flip. So when it came to deciding what I wanted to do on this wall, I knew that I wanted some kind of decorative trim, but I didn't want it to be shiplap. We have it on the other walls and the ceiling. So I wanted something different. And I also wanted to find a nice color that would go with the rest of the room, but that wasn't the exact same color. So I went with this muted green color. I love this color in our room. It's Benjamin Moore and the color is silver stage. So I will be sure to have all details listed below in the description box, but I basically gave my wall two coats of this paint. And then I will add some trim later just because it was easier to paint the walls and then attach the trim to the wall rather than trying to paint around the trim. So, so that's the order that I did this in. I also realized I didn't like the trim being white as I was painting this. I like when the wall and the trim is the same color. So after I painted this, I went ahead and painted the trim as well. Before we get into the trim, I wanted to show you this piece of furniture that I found at our thrift store. It was only $30. And before you come at me for painting this, I want to let you know most of this is actually plastic and it's not wood. The top is wood and some of the trim is wood, but the inserts are completely plastic. And as I was out searching for a piece of furniture to go here, I have been searching for months and months. I finally found this piece at our thrift store and I fell in love and I had the intention of painting it this cream color. So this is the chiffon cream color by Rust-Oleum and this is chalk paint. I had to do three coats total to give it full coverage. And then I switched out the hardware to make it look a little bit more new. Something else you want to do with chalk paint is give it a nice clear coat. So I just get the same clear coat that Rust-Oleum sells. Chalk paint is very forgiving as in if it gets wet at all, it will wipe off. So you don't want to have that on your furniture without having some kind of top coat to seal it. So here Thomas is just painting the trim. We decided to paint it all the way before we shot it into the wall again, just to make it a little bit easier. The way we spaced it on this wall, we tried to just do this exactly on center, but the two pieces of trim are five and a quarter inches apart. And then the big gap between them is 22 inches apart. The last thing I wanted to do here was add a shelf and I did nothing to the shelf. I left it just exposed raw wood because it matched our fireplace mantle. These shelf supporters were actually from Walmart and they were only three dollars a piece. And then we just got this piece of wood for a few dollars from Lowe's. I wanted to share something else that I picked up at our thrift store and that was this frame. I found this for two dollars and then I went ahead and found a printable off of Google and I thought this would be a perfect statement piece for the shelf. All of these books are also thrifted. I always try to find muted tone books to decorate throughout my house. And then I also found this little circle basket at our thrift store for just a dollar. This plant was from TJ Maxx and I've had this for a few months and then this rosemary plant was from Target. This branch was the one I had sitting on my mantle for a few months now. I had it in my spring decor so I'm just moving it into here. And then I found this gold dish at our thrift store. I have one of my favorite candles burning right here and that is from Antique Candle Co. I will have that linked below as well as some of my favorite scents that they have. And then this wooden chain was from Amazon. I know this took a few months for me to finally finish off our bedroom but I feel like it was worth it. I love this piece of furniture that I just recently found and I have been holding out to find something that I felt would really go well with this space. So again, I love this piece and I love that I was able to find it for 30 bucks. You guys know how much I love to do thrifting things or things on a budget and this entire makeover cost less than $150 and that is including the furniture piece.
