Overnight island camp

Got me some new pants for the woods. Yeah I'm heading out to do some night bridge building. I'm going to build a bridge across to the first floodplain camp tonight. Hopefully get that done so I can use this spot for tomorrow night. Yeah. Mr Tyson's come with and we're off and it's actually quite a calm night. Starry and the moon's out. You can see loads of stars in the sky. I don't think you can but you can see the moon. So yeah first floodplain camp here we come. We'll spend maybe an hour there. I spotted some logs. The problem is going to be getting onto the island. So yeah if we get onto the island there'll be plenty of wood to make a bridge. If I can't get onto the island then I'm not cutting down living trees to make it. So there's no wood on the other side if you know what I mean. So I need to get onto the island to do it. So we've got ourselves the island. My backpack. I walked across with a pole along that little thing there with Tyson. I think first log for the bridge is going to be this one here. It's massive long. Cut that in half and use that. Simple. Oh that's my first log just floating away. A lot harder than I thought it was. Next piece. Some walls of wood here. Tyson's found a ball. So much. I'll have to do another litter pick on here since it's flooded. All the plastic washed up. Keep us busy. Oh mate there's a ball. See it? Is that a ball? Yeah that's a ball. What's that? There's another ball. What is it? He's away with the bigger one now. I'm still searching for that adequate piece of wood. Just seen this log and I had to splice it. Look at that. First thing. It's so smooth. Getting good at this eh? Straight as a dial too. Look at that. Yeah. Sweet. That's one night, one camp replaced after the floods. I hope I just didn't do it too soon. Well it only took us like literally an hour to do. So next time I come I'll litter pick and it'll be good to go. Look at that. Definitely chuffed with that eh? Those new chains definitely made a difference in the cutting. Yeah I should really sharpen them a lot more often. And there's my new bridge for now. Just two long pulls until I work something else out. I'll get some muscle to help us move a bigger log. Put it higher in the trees but that'll do for now. Back in the city now. More daffodils. So quiet late at night. So it's the day after the bench and bridge build and I'm out for a one-nighter. Water's nice and low. Very clear too. I'm using the tent this week just because I'm with my girlfriend for a one-nighter. My food bag. All the benching that I did last night. And Tyson's running around somewhere like a hooligan. There he is. It's gone down now for about a week but I've been keeping a really close eye on it. Mandy's over there on the seat. Tyson's balls from last night. Sis! Sis! Look at all these like signs and everything washed up man. Plastic. That's a steel wire fence isn't that? Look at it. And that's attached to it. I've just covered it with my DD 4.5 tarp just to dull down the bright yellow colour on it. Just because it's really bright and I don't want that. The sun will be setting soon. We're collecting firewood. Tyson's chewing everything. So I'm six foot two and you can see the level of water I've got to. Yeah this is the lowest part of the flood plain and mental. Some of the logs it's washed up over there are just epic. I need a space here for the salmon. I've got some salmon and I've got it in a tinfoil parcel and it's got some nice sweet chilli sauce in there. So that'll be lovely. I'm just gonna cover that over. Give it gas mark five sticks. So I've got my sweet chilli salmon. That is done. Starting to ooze. Smells nice. Potatoes and vegetables. Tyson just sitting there guarding everything. Look at that. Sweet chilli salmon. Vegetables and potatoes. Perfect. Well it's foggy. Very cold. Getting wood. That was our camp last night. Quite frosty when we got up. We're just in the midst of packing everything up. Look at this for a sexy rucksack. I've got the inner out already. Just got the last bit to take down and then the fire to put out and we're done.
