Morning Dirk. Hey Drew. What's up buddy? Trump you got dirty buddy.
Good morning everyone. So we have all the cows home and out of the hills but our replacement
heifers are still out at their summer pasture in Wyoming. So today we're gonna go out there
and round them up and then we're gonna truck some home today and we'll probably have to
bring some home tomorrow as well. Usually we bring them home with a semi
and trailer but the people that we usually have truck for us, I think they have a couple trucks
that are in the shop getting worked on and they're busy too. Other people are bringing their calves
to sell them and stuff. So yeah there's 150 yearlings out there so it's gonna take us quite
a few loads but that's all right. Before I get going this tire has been bugging us for a little
while. So I'm just gonna change that out quick. Yeah that's not good.
They're stuck on there pretty good. Looks a lot better.
Now I've got all three pickups and trailers. I just went to my grandpa's house and picked up
the other pickup and trailer. So we're good to go. So I'm just rolling up to our holding pen
out in Wyoming where we've been bringing the heifers after we round them up.
Well we've got the heifers started. My mom's over here riding. She's in the bushes there
and then we had a bunch jump the fence and get the neighbors and my dad is back there bringing them
and then we'll just sort them at the gate. Sort ours away from the neighbors
and get them in here and then get them all up to the corrals. So we got all the heifers in.
It's pretty easy pretty quick but now we have the brand inspector. He's gonna go through them all
just inspect the brands. Dad why do we have to brand inspect anyway? There's a state line
in western states that you have to have an inspector going back and forth between states.
So anyone came from South Dakota now we have to have them inspected going back into South Dakota
and it's they also charge money so there's kind of a tax involved in it from the states too. So
okay what are they looking for when they are inspecting? They're making sure that they have
either our ES brand or our S double quarter circle brand on them. They're checking to see
if there's any strays if we're stealing any cattle or anything so that they can find out
the rightful owners to them if there's some strays in there so. Makes sense. It's about two o'clock
and we got our first group loaded on all three trailers so we've got 11
11 yearlings in two trailers 11 heifers and then 14 in the other trailer and we're going back to
just our pastures back in South Dakota right now and it's about two o'clock so we're probably gonna
be able to have time to get this load unloaded then come back and get one more one more round
and then the rest we're gonna have to get in the morning. You happy with how they look?
So we got two loads hauled, six loads actually with two loads for three trailers so we're gonna
go back in the morning and just get the rest of the loads and bring them back the yearlings the
heifers will be fine in the corrals for the night and we'll get them over right away in the morning
but yeah I know you guys are following up and thinking this and I just want to say thank you
for noticing my mustache my goatee you know my my wife she's noticed it as well and she called it
cute so yeah cute that's exactly what I wanted to hear that my goatee was cute after growing
it for so long but anyway it doesn't matter but I know you guys have noticed um and I appreciate
you guys and your your appreciation for a good goatee and a mustache on a young guy now I know
exactly what you guys are all thinking where the heck did the goatee go well I had to shave you
see it's the beginning of November and that means no shave November so I had to shave it so I can
start fresh and see what I can get done in a month I don't think I can get that goatee back in a month
it's gonna take longer than that but we'll see what happens driving over this morning to get the
heifers throw out the rest of them and I thought it felt like I had a flat tire but all my tires
were good so I jumped out and looked and we've got a pretty big problem so all these lug nuts and
bolts wore off of this tire um and the tire is barely hanging on there but we've actually had
this happen before we don't have the right tools to fix it right now so we're just gonna take two
trailers back and um unload the heifers and then we'll come back and fix it but it's not very good
well we got the last group here so then we'll have most of the heifers home we're still
missing probably 20 20 heifers out here but they'll show up eventually we'll find them and
bring them home just like we brought these ones home so let's go ladies just gonna leave this pick
up here for now since that tire is shot um till we can get the right parts for it but if somebody
tries to steal it they'll have a nice little surprise running on fumes happy heifers
