Anyway, i'm gonna get back to my hotpot and uh, enjoy the video Hey guys, mike chen here in dubai been exploring different neighborhoods walking around trying different types of foods One thing I noticed a lot of filipino restaurants around here. Oh, he's in the mood for some filipino food So first restaurant i'm at is called kusina Natin, this place looks good. Everything on the menu looks good. There's breakfast soup and noodles lulalo, kare kare Sizzling sisig, of course here is uh, either chicken or beef sisig. Ooh Sizzling bone marrow That is Thick with chunks of fatty beef Star anise some garlic. Oh my goodness. This smells Incredible couple of eggs in here as well scallions. Wow beef looks Incredibly tender good amount of fat and put this over garlic rice drizzle some of this amazing gravy onto it I'll know what smells better the garlic rice with a beef pate Oh wow when this thing is done, right it's just so amazingly flavorful big chunks of beef Again, a lot of fat so amazingly tender you taste the spices Right away. You taste the aroma from the star anise. It's just so inviting and the sauce is so rich Add a little bit of vinegar and some hot oil I'll happily eat this dish all day long, especially with some vinegar savory and vinegary. That's my favorite flavor profile for filipino dishes Excellent also this iced tea That is so good. It's some kind of peach iced tea Really delicious next up beef kare kare a little veg eggplant in here Yep, I smell the peanutty aroma as soon as I open this pot Oxtail inside and of course some shrimp paste to mix in here. This is the dish I've been waiting for Sizzling bone marrow giant pieces of bone marrow sizzling on a hot plate It's just pure buttery gold put some of this on my rice Add a chunk of meat With that your garlic rice will turn into garlic butter rice Oh, that's so delicious. They season that as well 100% Recommend getting that when you're here. It's just such a great add-on for anything you order Also, I haven't had kare kare in such a long time some shrimp paste And just look at the oxtail fall off the bone. These are all such great dishes to eat with rice Oh, that's tender personally, I love the shrimp paste It goes perfect with that thick creamy peanutty broth. This thing is earthy It's a little sweet. The flavor is very mild nothing aggressive, but so incredibly rich And I love the little snap From the tripe put that on your plate again chase it with a little shrimp paste The ultimate comfort dish This restaurant is freaking amazing. By the way. Also what you can do take some garlic rice put it inside The ball a little bit of sauce There you go. Kare kare bone marrow garlic rice Not gonna find much better bite than that. Like I said, this restaurant is really good Wish I could stay here. Just try more stuff on the menu There's a couple more places I gotta get you. I forgot one thing I haven't had a hala hala in a long long time Ice cream sticky rice. I can't even get to the bottom. It's melting already This is a really really authentic place feels like i'm back in the philippines eating this food Just around the corner wanted to grab some filipino street food top silag with garlic rice and a runny egg 270 Oh I can't believe this costs as much as a mcdonald's burger And trust me it tastes so so much better. The garlic rice is phenomenal little crispy pieces of garlic The egg is perfect the beef just has the most amazing chew And just so much umami also got a bowl of chicken skin dollar sixty for a bowl of chicken skin Not as crispy as I thought Still delicious though. This is so good though for such an amazing price All these ingredients together creaminess from the runny egg the delicious deep rich flavor of the beef This whole area just has a ton of filipino restaurants really picking any one of them I feel like i'm not gonna go wrong Also got a couple street food items deep fried peppers with a little thin wrapper around it for under a dollar This is so freaking delicious the wrapper is so incredibly thin fresh chilies you bite through the wrapper You taste the heat a little bit of sweetness a little juice from the peppers This is one of the best versions of this dish I had outside the philippines I forgot cheese inside the peppers too. Just give me some sauce for the dynamite I wish I got a whole plate of this Sauce a little sweet a little spicy I'm here We need to get some of this. So today is a couple things street food We're gonna have some of their specialty spicy seafood with rice. This is quite a feast. First of all street food We got some you saw chicken and tested Wow, this is something you see a lot when walking around the night markets, uh in the philippines, right? giant fried squid This is everywhere When you're walking around the night markets and it's such an amazing street food item. You saw is something I haven't had It's such a long time when you think filipino street food, this is the first thing that comes to mind Oh, yeah Chicken intestines grilled perfectly. I love that char on the outside brings a little bit of bitterness Ah, this thing is chewy to me. I love organic flavor. I love intestines This is one of my favorite things especially right off the grill It's still got that nice char on the outside when the sauce they put on this a little sweet little spicy It's kind of like eating chewy chicken and some chicken liver at the same time I love how the dipping sauce got tons of vinegar You can't balance out the nice flavor of the intestines I gotta dig into this Holy moly You don't see these often in restaurants like this is like something you would expect in a food stall somewhere, but look at this fried Absolutely so perfect. You see all the spices on the outside of the crispy outer shell This thing is gonna have a nice crunch. I guarantee you fresh squid is used for this There's a flavor so nicely it's like eating the kfc of fried squid Creamy crunchy on the outside inside the squid is tender. This thing's got good flavor on the outer shell Delicious that's really fun to eat they give you gloves because this the food is gonna be saucy Lemon juice shrimp paste goes on the grilled eggplant. This thing's got some scallions tomatoes as well Mix it all together get all the eggplant out Mix it with all the veg And the paste Get a big spoonful That's amazing first of all you taste the fire you taste the smoke from the eggplant That's cooked so nicely a little sweet burst of juice from the tomatoes or crunch from the onions the shrimp paste I love some people might find it a little too much. I love it brings in that great seafood briny umami flavor This is milkfish this is the national fish of the philippines squeeze of lemon and you can just take a chunk out beautiful white flaky meat Juicy glistening and take this Dip a little bit in the sauce and eat wow That's freaking outstanding again. Just like the eggplant You taste the smokiness from the fire watch out for the little um little bones in here These tend to have little bones in here. Just be careful of that dip it in the sauce Combine it with a little veg Get a little bit of rice And then down the hatch also to eat this fish because they split this in half move the vegetables Look at that glistening fat. That's just melting your mouth fish belly right there See all that dig this up Oh, wow, this Is the best part of the fish? A little more meat on there for me Put in some vegetables squeeze of lemon juice Just to counteract that nice belly fat little tiny bit of soy sauce. There we go That was exquisite The fat in that belly just completely Evacuates as soon as it touches your tongue the nice squeeze of lemon juice again balances out the fat making it taste so amazingly tender and a little crunch the vegetables kind of offset how soft and tender the flesh of the fish is giving it that Nice little bit of crunch and juice and little sweetness from the tomatoes as well That is the part of the fish you give To those you hold dear the most I mean say something for yourself But only share that with someone you truly care about because there's not a lot of it, you know, 100 blow your mind squid grilled perfect char on the outside Look at that So perfectly beautiful. I love dipping everything in chili vinegar That's about as tender as you can get nice slight bitterness from the char the sauce has a bit of sweetness a bit of smokiness And the vinegar in the sauce highlights the natural sweetness of the squid so well Oh, it's so tender I'm trying to try everything quickly because I got this just turning cold and I really don't want that. This is the cajun Shrimp, so a lot of people come to dimpa for their cajun spicy different flavored seafood And what you can do is take that nice sauce here all that great butter and spices and just drizzle that all over The rice make that rice all buttery and spicy Oh my gosh starts cracking open the seafood Shrimp head Take a piece of the shrimp out Dip it back into the sauce And down the hatch Whoa sweet buttery smoky spicy and the rice is exponentially better Because that's soaked in all that great butter and spices and seafood juice as well Everybody does you get that great natural sweet flavor from the shrimp They kept their head on which is great because you suck on that and suck out That amazing natural umami. This is how I would imagine a great filipino food day Here in dubai. Actually, I didn't imagine it. I I didn't know all these great places existed if you find all these places Like everything it just tastes so amazingly authentic and we're not done a couple of things left. I'm really thursday So they brought me all over a little drink Um, well, maybe it's not so little this is called the justin bieber Passion fruit pineapple soda, so if you ever want to put your mouth on justin bieber You can do it here and then I got an iced tea inside grenadine. I think peach Hmm This tastes like the peach tea I had this morning. This is delicious. I got my drinks. I got my table full of food This day started out great It's indiana high note as well, and we're not done one more dessert. Here it is This is the popular ice crumble. This is something you can get anywhere in the philippines People usually push around a cart. They grind up some ice some milk powder. Uh, in this case, there's marshmallow. There's chocolate syrup on here This is pretty much what they call native ice cream in the philippines it is right This is something that's super authentic I would say vintage you gotta mix it pretty well because otherwise you're gonna get a mouthful of uh milk powder So mix that Really really really well. It's milky. It's chocolatey extremely refreshing and with the marshmallows floating here Pretty fun as well I was eating the squid and drinking the justin bieber at the same time accidentally got some chilies in my justin bieber.
