Hey guys, Mike Chen. Been in South Korea for a few days now, still
super jet laggy, just stepping out for some tea and then probably going to the gym, then going out for some food food, and the
place I'm going to, been thinking about ever since I left Seoul last time, one of my favorite bowls of ramen in the
world. And before all that, a big thank you and shout out to Athletic Greens for sponsoring this video.
This is how I start my day pretty much every single day, and it's helped me tremendously during quarantine. So simple,
I got my travel pack,
I got my travel bottle. Every single day, pour this in, about eight ounces of water,
shake it up, and drink.
I know what you're thinking, green liquid, actually tastes pretty good.
And what I love about this is that one pack or one scoop of it gives me 75 vitamins and minerals.
Probiotics, home food source, superfoods. To me,
it's just a super convenient way to stay healthy. And I say convenient because before this, when I travel, I used to have so many
bottles of vitamins I'd take with me that's super inconvenient. I'd lose them all the time. In your box,
you'll get a pack, travel bottle, travel packs, a year's supply of vitamin D, which I've always stressed a lot.
You got to take your vitamin D, especially when we were in quarantine, couldn't get out for about 10 days.
So necessary. And I've been taking this for several months now. I feel better.
I feel more energetic. I usually try to take this before my workout, and just like any other products I promote,
I tried this out extensively, and I love it. Also, AG1 always follows the latest research.
They go way beyond third-party testing to make sure whatever they're giving you,
you're getting the best quality and the best
nutritional daily habits on the planet. And AG1 really does provide your body with everything it needs for optimal performance every single day.
So again, if you want to give this a try, link down below. Again,
year's supply of vitamin D and five travel packs for free with your first order. Alright, see you guys later for food.
Hey, good afternoon guys. Mike Chang here in Seoul, South Korea. Starting my food day kind of late today.
It's about 4.30 in the afternoon. I think because I haven't traveled as much,
I feel like my body's just really not adjusting to the time difference as quickly as it used to. Anyway, first meal on this food
evening, something I've been thinking about ever since I left last time.
I gotta go get a bowl of this ramen.
I'm about halfway to the ramen shop. This just caught my attention. Thai tuk-tuk noodle. I don't know if they're open
5 o'clock. This is what you look for when you're in South Korea. That's like their version of the Michelin Award.
So here, beef noodle soup, pork rib.
Oh, this looks really, really good. I didn't know this place existed. Might need to make a quick pit stop.
And here's why I got an Airbnb around this area. Right next door to the Thai place, I just found, look at this place.
This place has
Daecheondong, which is large intestine rice bowls. Alright, I may not make it to the Michelin ramen place just yet.
I'm gonna be here for a little bit. Not even too sad about it.
So we got three dishes, two noodle dish and a spring roll. Try to hold back cause I got a large intestine rice bowl after this.
Got the tom yum noodles. Mushrooms on top, little minced meat, rice noodles on the bottom.
Oh, look at all the chilies in here.
This is what you really, really need after coming in from the cold. There's sprouts on the bottom, filled with meat, chili, spices.
It's spicy, it's sour, you taste the lemongrass.
Oh wow, that just makes it more spicy and more sour.
All the spring rolls are split down the middle. This is really nice, you can see what's inside. So inside, shrimp,
mushrooms, bamboo shoots, minced meat as well.
Oh, this is a must get when you come here. This is so good.
First of all, I like the fact that they split it in half.
It's not burning your mouth. You know, you're taking a bite, there's dipping sauce. Definitely need some vinegar.
And I will say 100% some chilies.
The spring rolls are so good. You get a nice crunch from the outside with the skin and a different crunch on the inside with
the bamboo shoots and the mushrooms.
Mmm, the rice noodles are so nice.
They're really thin, so every bite you get all that flavor from that amazing broth.
So every bite, it's like you're slurping the soup and you're eating the noodles at the same time.
This is, of course, the famous Thai pork ribs covered in garlic and chilies, all sitting again on top of rice noodles in a broth.
I think this is pretty crispy pork skin. Look how easily the meat comes off the bone.
Just by brushing it lightly with my chopsticks.
Oh my gosh. Oh wow. Oh, these ribs are so tender and flavorful.
Especially when you take a bite with that fresh garlic and chilies. This is unreal how good this is. Let me just try this broth too.
Wow.
A hint of sweetness, a little sour.
That flavor is just so deep.
That's why these ribs taste so good. They've been soaking in this broth probably for a while.
Oh my goodness. Oh, this is out of this world. Gotta add some spices though and some more vinegar.
Just gonna add a little chili to this. This thing just needs a little heat. Otherwise, it's absolutely perfect.
Just like the last bowl, the noodles soak up that broth so nicely.
I do wish they give you plastic gloves so you can start ripping the bones apart. I mean, I'm okay gnawing on it too.
This is definitely a place I'll keep coming back to. It's so hearty. After every bite,
as delicious as it is, you just feel good on the inside. It just heats you up, especially in this crazy cold winter.
Not even worse when it's colder outside. There's some marrow in here as well.
So if you're not just enjoying that tender meat, you can eat all the good parts of this bone too.
This feels so good on the inside.
Let's go get that rice bowl.
Look how beautiful this dish is. Large intestines with an egg on top. A couple of beautiful looking peppers.
Oh, it's so heartbreaking popping this beautiful egg like this.
Fire grilled large intestines. This is one of my favorite things in the world. Underneath,
what is this? Mushroom? And of course, rice. Mix everything up.
This is ridiculous. Wow.
You just taste so much smoke from the intestines. Add a little wasabi. Large intestines are so fatty and nice.
I mean, this is cooked ridiculously well. Like I said, you can taste the smoke, you can taste the fire.
Add a little spice to the rice will make it very, very nice. And eating it with a bite of rice with that creamy
egg yolk blended in.
Makes this dish even more velvety. Only thing I wish that this was a bigger bowl.
The intestines and the rice, it's just a combined experience. The rice is so delicious as well.
Especially when it's covered by the sauce from the intestines.
It's got that nice egg to bind all the grains together in a creamy, delicious bliss. A little wasabi to cut the fat.
This is just freaking exquisite. And if intestines aren't your thing, it's okay.
They also got roast pork, roast beef. I'm gonna come back at some point and try all those bowls.
Probably not gonna get to the ramen today, but we'll pick this up tomorrow. So this food day to be continued.
I wonder what this is for. Asians typically only line up for shopping deals or food. This looks like shopping deals.
Here I am, Orino Ramen. This is one of the best ramen I've had anywhere. Always packed. It's like 4 p.m.
Lying out the door and it's freezing outside. I'm standing here, about to walk 30 minutes in the cold.
I'll do an hour just to eat here. Nah, I'd do two hours. I wouldn't.
One of the most delicious bowls of ramen you'll find anywhere on this planet.
One of my favorite bowl ramen in the world, right here in South Korea, is a chicken and pork broth.
And you can get it spicy or not. I got mine spicy. Some mushrooms, scallions, these pieces of chicken here, and thin,
straight noodles.
I just like drinking liquid silk. This thing is so incredibly rich and creamy.
It just hits you.
The spicy version too. As soon as that silky sheet of broth
hits your taste buds, it gives it such a nice little jolt.
And this place, I forgot to mention, luckily I was reminded by my friend sitting next to me, unlimited broth in noodles.
You have to pay for extra meat, but otherwise, yeah. Very important detail. This is basically a ramen buffet, almost.
Also, this is like $10.
That's an amazing deal for bowl ramen. Any bowl ramen you get in the States,
they're talking about $16, $14, $15, $16.
They're not giving you free noodles. And these noodles, trust me, you'll want multiple, multiple servings of this.
What I love about these noodles, not only are they so thin, and that's great because it soaks up that broth so nicely.
It grabs onto the broth so well, too. Super nice grip.
And the pieces of chicken here. Oh, I'm so excited to bite into this piece of chicken.
Just as tender and amazing as I remember that.
Pretty much done. Ready for my second water.
Couple sips, you're warmed right up.
As much as I like the regular broth, original broth,
it's spicy. It's just perfect with a day like this.
I love the egg.
Saved the best for last. I forgot to give you unlimited noodles and chicken, so scratch that.
You don't have unlimited broth. Sorry for that misinformation. I just downed all my broth. Now I wish I saved a bunch of it.
That noodle is so perfect. It has the most outstanding texture. Even with just a tiny bit of broth, it's still so awesome.
All that egg was worth waiting for.
Save yourself. It's just like a velvety umami grenade. Take a bite and just let that coat your tongue and just enjoy that sensation.
If I had more broth, I think I could have done like two more orders of that.
But,
still,
that's pretty awesome.
No, I will be coming. Yeah, next time, save the broth. I'm gonna have to be more strategic next time I'm here, but
hey, I'm happy. Yeah, just packed full of people. Not really even dinnertime yet. Once he reminded me,
I knew the noodles were unlimited. I have a bad memory, so I forgot if the soup was or not.
Turns out not to be the case. Still a little hungry. Let's see what else is around here.
The mala xiang guo place.
Potatoes.
Tofu skin.
The most difficult choice you got to make here is whether you want a mala tang or a mala xiang guo.
I want both. It really feels like more of a mala tang night.
Freezing, so I'm gonna take mine to go and then see that at home. Just got home.
I tend to overdo it whenever I see mala xiang guo, mala tang.
I didn't know this, this is quite a lot even for the two of us.
I didn't know they made bowls this big. Usually you get mala tang to go in the States.
They give you it to you in a little bowl. This is just ginormous.
Oh!
They wrapped this really well. I got two packs of meat. It's full of veg.
The soup is three out of four spicy, just because I gotta look out for Christine.
Can't kill her. You can smell right away the peppercorn, the chilies.
You know what? I think four would have been okay. Oh wow.
This is why I wanted to eat this at home, too.
I got this melon milk that I've been saving.
This is one of the most delicious drinks ever. It tastes like a melted melona popsicle.
And it's so cozy being able to eat mala tang in the comforts of your own home.
Oh, this is a good place.
Spicy, yet extremely flavorful.
Also Christine wanted some mashed potatoes.
Couldn't find it anywhere.
So I'm making her some. This is a spinach doenjang soup, and I put a pack of potato chips in here.
And then just start mashing. I learned about this when I was filming my 7-Eleven food video.
It's not too bad. The meat is good, good amount of fat. Potatoes,
exceptionally good. Also this thing was like a brisk 10-minute walk.
Still burning hot. Only thing I wish I could have brought some of that ramen noodle home. Some ramen, some mala tang,
some melon milk. That's a good way to spend the evening when it's freezing cold outside. Again, we're staying in the Hongdae area.
So much food around here, all relatively inexpensive as well. That's why I love staying in this area.
And as always, all places I went to are listed down below for you guys.
Thank you all so much for watching. Until we eat again, see you later.
