window and looking through their brand new window, they say that looks like HD.
Hi there, Sean with American Window Concepts. One of the questions that I get asked is
should I replace my windows? When's a good time to replace my windows? Well,
it's really up to you. It's up to what is important to you. If you hate the rattly
noises from wind, gusts of wind come through the windows themselves, so there's really no
weatherstripping. Case in point, one of these old windows, it might be in your house,
you have a single pane aluminum frame, the weatherstripping that would have been there is
long gone. It's just not existing anymore. These things rattle. In fact, we just replaced this
today and the customer really hated how much her windows rattled. That was her reason for
wanting to get replacement windows. You might have a window like this. House is built in the 30s,
40s, 50s and on. Wood window. Again, plate glass. Very, very thin. It's a nice window. It's a cool
looking window, but it's outdated. It's old. It's not going to provide you any kind of
performance against heat coming into the house. You're running your AC all day and it's really
not getting any rest because all the heat coming through your window is going right into your house
and the AC is trying like heck to keep the cool temperature or keep the temperature down.
Well, all of those are really good reasons to upgrade to some beautiful windows. I have an
aluminum window here. It's a Catalina single slider window. I'll just go over this real quickly.
The benefit of going with a dual pane high performance window. Now, the first thing I'm
going to point out is going to be security. A lot of people are worried about these little single
piece of metal pieces that are locking them in the house against invaders or anything else. Well,
the cool thing about this particular window here is you're going to have
not one, but two pull tight cam locks and will lock this thing in place and you can't jimmy this
window. You can't go from the outside and try to pry these locks. It's just not going to work.
They would have to physically break the glass to make entry. The other thing about that,
about this window, is basically the function of it. I mean, it's a really, really nice sliding
window. I'll pull this out and we'll kind of go over the components. These windows come with a
nylon stainless steel coaxial with a hardened plastic. These things are going to last a very,
very long time. And the cool thing about these windows as well is the double lifetime warranty
that is going to come with the window. So if anything was to go wrong with these rollers,
go wrong with the locks, anything, they're going to warrant it. I mean, it's a beautiful,
beautiful system and they're high quality products, but they're also going to back it up with a full
double lifetime warranty. And that is a great, great thing to have. And also with that warranty,
accidental glass breakage is included. So if you're out playing ball in the backyard,
the ball gets away from you, hits the glass and cracks it, don't worry, it's going to be covered
under the warranty. And that's all written out so you can read it for yourself. Now,
the next thing I want to talk about is the weatherstripping itself on this window.
So as I showed you before, on the other windows that had no weatherstripping, well this has a lot
of it. Most manufacturers are going to use a felt style weatherstripping, mole hair weatherstripping,
but they'll have a nylon piece here that goes in between. This is usually about one piece.
Anlin uses standard triple. So triple fin, which is these nylon pieces that split between the mole
hair. And what the job of that is, is if it's windy outside, it helps keep the wind at bay.
So again, no sliding window is going to be a hundred percent airtight. It's just impossible.
But the way you're going to combat that is use high quality products. One being
the triple fin mole hair weatherstripping. So that's going to be standard with all Anlin products.
So that takes care of that. Sound. If you don't like hearing the neighbor's dog bark or cars
going up and down the street all day long, well these dual pane windows really supply you with a
quiet environment inside the house. That's one of the first things that people tell me as soon as
replacing the windows is the amount of sound, the quality of sound. It's so quiet when they
lock all the windows and they kind of just hang out in the house and watch a little TV
and it's quiet. And they love that. You could even boost that by going with a sound package
glass unit that Anlin also offers. And what that is, is you're going to have a eighth inch panel
of glass on the outside, which is a standard double strength glass panel. The interior panel
of glass is going to be 3 16ths or triple strength. And those two dissimilar glass sizes are going to
create an even better STC rating, which is a sound transfer class. And it makes it even quieter in
the house. So it's super comfortable. So there's that. The other reason would be the beauty of it.
So you're talking about a single piece of aluminum window or aluminum frame with a single piece of
glass. It's not a very pretty window. It's not a very pretty window to look at. It's loud when you're
sliding it back and forth. And again, we're going back to the rattling and the noise that comes in.
These windows are very, very pretty. Anlin has done a key thing of making beveled edges.
They kept the pull rail far away from the center because when you're looking at this from the
center, it's very nice. They got soft bullnose edges again with the beveling pull rail far away.
It's not a snap on piece. It's all integrated. So it's extruded as so. And it's just a beautiful
window to look at. So when you're going from the older windows to this, when you initially look at
the new windows, you think, wow, that looks beautiful. Lastly, I would say the quality of
glass that you're going to see in these new windows is going to be very, very high, high
quality. One of the nice things that I always hear from a customer is when they see it, they go,
it looks HD. That's what they tell me whenever they see it for the first time after going through
their old window and looking through their brand new window. They say that looks like HD.
Kind of a nice feature. So with all of those things, it's just it's really anytime is a good
time to buy windows. It's just really up to you. And if you're interested in getting new windows,
