After renting a car in Skopje and setting off on our Balkan road trip almost two weeks ago,
we visited two countries so far. We have seen some incredible things driving through Macedonia
and further on Albania just blew our minds with its jaw-dropping views.
After exploring Albania we arrived in our third country.
Hello, so we're in a town in the south of Montenegro called Bar. We've been here for the
we've basically used this opportunity to catch up on a load of work and we've just spent the
whole time at the computers and yeah Bar's a nice little town. There's not that much going on,
it's just a nice quiet place. It's been good to catch up with some work.
Now we're heading to the north of Montenegro and we're going to stay in the village. Let's go.
We just came from the other side of the tunnel and went straight through the toll road and we
paid €2.50. That was the first kind of pricey toll road. We don't know how long the road is but...
Stop for a coffee. We're both falling asleep. It's not good. It's not good.
So everything's got a lot more sort of remote now. The roads are a lot bendier,
there's a lot less traffic. There's still some about but a lot less and the views are incredible.
The thing is when you're driving in roads like this is you want to pull over every five minutes
to stare or you want to just drive and stare at what's around you but obviously you can't when
you're driving and then pulling over every five minutes to stop and film means we're never going
to get anywhere. But you literally want to stop all the time. It's so beautiful. As soon as we've
come over this first mountain pass as well into like the northern half of Montenegro,
everywhere you turn has just been stunning. Because the country is so mountainous,
comes from the name of the country, there are so many tunnels it's crazy. We've gone through like
what five probably already and we've only been driving for a couple of hours and the majority
of them are so long. I've never seen the tunnels that long. Welcome to the small town or village
of Jabljak in the north of Montenegro. We've driven about three hours to get here and our
original plan was we're going to stay here for the night in like a guest house and explore this
area a bit because it's absolutely beautiful and then drive back down to the south tomorrow. But
we don't know what to do because we found a few places that are you know like 13, 11 pounds a
night and we didn't book any things because we thought we'd just walk in. And as we were walking
in a few different places they were charging us more than it is online which normally happens
other way around. People actually charge you less if you just walk in there. So we're just thinking
what to do whether we should stay here for the night or head back to south today. So we're just
trying to decide what to do now. Yeah we're just going to look online and see the prices and then
just see if we can find somewhere reasonable to stay. And then if that's the case then great because
we can explore the village a bit more and explore the area inside the village. But if not then no.
But we were originally planning to camp here but the campsites closed and we drove past another
one and there is like a massive building site going on. Yeah so give us five minutes and we'll
let you know. We booked a place it's the one just behind us there and yeah we think we're really
lucky with it actually to be honest. The price was 19 euros for a night which obviously isn't
that cheap. Well considering the prices that we're used to I think. Yeah I think coming from
Georgia and Armenia isn't it it's just been a shock for the system to be back in Europe. Yeah
for sure. But yeah the place is really lovely the hosts are just so friendly it's brother and sister
and they're so helpful and lovely. We're going to show you the room in a bit. We even got a balcony
we're just off to grab some food. So we actually thought that Zhabyak was going to be like a small
almost traditional Montenegrin village. Turns out it's actually quite a tourist hot spot.
So it is a village slash town we'll call it a village for the sake of this video. But it's
quite touristy so there's a lot of restaurants isn't there and there's a lot of guest houses.
Ski resort as well. Yeah yeah in the winter there's a ski resort and it's really close to
a famous lake and a famous canyon that we'll show you tomorrow. We are so glad we found that place
that was good. It was amazing bowl well a plate of vegetables and grilled vegetables and they
were so delicious and I was dreaming oh plates of vegetables for ages. So yeah you're really
satisfied aren't you and I basically had like a vegetable and cheese tortilla with fries which
was also good. Yeah yeah it was really good everything in there was fresh and the price
was good which is the main thing. Yeah compared to other places you walk into a few different places
I think everywhere we've been recently sort of after Russia like Georgia, Armenia, Turkey are
quite meat centric like so we've been eating a lot of red meat so we were sort of craving
meat and bread yeah so we were sort of craving just some vegetables. I mean I sort of ruined
that bit because I had a tortilla but still it was nice to have the veg. Now we're gonna go for a walk
trees
Good morning from Jablok. The guest house last night was actually really really comfortable
wasn't it was amazing and the hosts were the nicest people. There was a brother and sister
that hosted it wasn't it and the brother was sitting with us all evening offering us coffee
he could speak like really good Russian as well so we were talking to him in Russian which was fun
and yeah we woke up this morning and the plan was basically behind us literally like a couple of
minutes drive there is a lake a really beautiful lake however we drove there and the entrance
costs three euro each and plus two euros for parking your car there so eight euros quite a lot
and we thought can't really afford it but where there's a will there's a way. We're just gonna
have some breakfast and then let's get going. So this is Tara Canyon. This river is very inviting
right now. I mean I'm sure they do bungee probably here. Let me get your head right. Not that inviting.
Let's go back. Back where? Where are we going back? Thank you. So we've got one more stop for today
and it could be the best one yet. What a place. So because we're in a national park
we need to get a ticket and it costs three euros so yeah but at least it's going towards
we hope the preservation of the park so it's good. I mean still bitter about it.
So this is Sedlor which is 1900 meters up and the views from up here are absolutely incredible
like we're at the very top of a pass and you can go back down the other side.
I think we need to look on the map because I want to go down the other side because that
snake looks awesome but yeah we need to look on the map if we're going to end up in somewhere
completely random but yeah what a place. So beautiful.
Considering it was like 46 yesterday as we were driving through Pocahontas
to feel snow even if it's just the last remains of what was here in the winter is
pretty incredible. It's crazy. In the same country like a three-hour drive away.
Oh my god. No. I miss you. This is what you should have seen just a minute ago.
So this beautiful place seems like the perfect place to leave this video.
I'm so happy that we decided to stay here and explore the area more.
It's just I didn't expect it to be that insanely gorgeous and thanks for watching. See you in the
next one.
