The Top 10 Best Hotels in Los Angeles, California (2023)
The likelihood is high that you won't just want to stay in downtown LA when visiting Los Angeles.
Beyond Los Angeles itself, in cities like Hollywood or Santa Monica,
there are a ton of activities and places to stay. For those who only need a few days at the beach,
Santa Monica's laid-back atmosphere is perfect. But Hollywood is the place to be if you're
interested in celebrity sightings, fitness, and the newest wellness trends. Because of LA's
notoriously bad traffic, you should choose your hotel based on where you anticipate spending the
most time. Despite being only 20 miles away, traveling from the LAX airport to LA at the
incorrect time of day can add at least an hour to your travel time. But for a day,
traveling to the beach from downtown is worthwhile. 10. Hotel Bel-Air
Hotel Bel-Air is a storied LA mansion nestled among the well-known canyon hills.
Unaffected by the commotion of life outside Bell Gates, Air's 12-acre haven of affluent
enchantment has been providing understated luxury since 1946. The hotel is silently waiting. Then
comes the sound of birds, a lake, and the well-known bridge leading to this world within a world.
Your vision is filled with lush tropical vegetation as the swans fly by. The Hotel Bel-Air,
LA's ultimate haven of rarefied luxury and the cradle of the Bel-Air neighborhood,
has played host to innumerable memorable Hollywood events. The lake is home to lovely white swans,
who collectively represent the romance, grace, and elegance of Hotel Bel-Air.
Paths that wind through the hotel premises are surrounded by more than 4,000 plants
and 483 specimen trees, giving the place an enticing secret feel.
9. The Beverly Hills Hotel The Beverly Hills Hotel has been the
ultimate beacon of glitz for more than a century, drawing Hollywood's brightest lights. From the
minute you pass the recognizable signage, step onto the distinctive red carpet, and enter the
enormous lobby, the stunning hotel welcomes you like a movie star. The hotel's original catchphrase
was, entitled to the best of anything and everything, regardless of expense.
There are 12 acres of tropical gardens and rare flora all around you.
Beyond this, against the dazzling blue sky, stand the famous LA palm trees. Even though you are in
the heart of this well-known city, the surroundings are lush and green, and the air is full of
possibilities. This hotel is not like others. The Beverly Hills Hotel has been seductively
concealed amongst 80-year-old palm trees and banana foliage for a long time.
This famous hotel, commonly referred to as the Pink Palace, is recognized for its blush front,
around which Beverly Hills was practically constructed.
8. Shudders on the Beach Shudders, formerly a hip refuge for
hot Hollywood celebrities and now a sibling property to Casa Del Mar, has a laid-back yet
unmistakably sophisticated aesthetic. The lobby, which is adorned with cozy couches,
club chairs, and works by contemporary masters like David Hockney, mimics the beach cottage
feel of the rooms and suites, which have wonderful dark hardwood floors and the hotel's
distinctive white shudders. Enjoy a day at the spa or lounge poolside while sipping wine and
admiring the ocean, if you prefer light pampering to the numerous beach activities. Even if the
luxury is understated, it is nevertheless luxury. 7. Hotel Irwin
Steps from the ocean and featuring amenities like vegan minibars and sunset views,
Hotel Irwin is a meticulously designed boutique hotel with the soul of a surfer bungalow.
It offers a locals-only look at Southern California beach culture.
The bohemian seaside neighborhood of Venice Beach has now become home to wine bars,
bakeries, and upscale boutiques in addition to oiled-up bodybuilders,
fake designer sunglasses, and an abundance of, uh, tobacco pipes. In recent years,
Venice Beach has shed its reputation as a beach bum hangout in favor of something a little more
upscale. The 1975-opened skater-chic Hotel Irwin is the best of both worlds. It features locals-only
features like surfboards in the reception area, street art in the rooms, and free day passes to
nearby historic Gold's Gym. 6. Casa Del Mar
This stylish and aesthetically noteworthy hotel is a well-known icon in the area and is situated
right on the beach, close to Santa Monica's shops and eateries. The majority of the lavish rooms and
suites have views of the ocean or the coastline. For an especially opulent stay, book one of the
presidential suites or the two-story penthouse suites. A spa day is a vacation all by itself,
salon services can be taken advantage of in one of five treatment rooms decorated
in a Mediterranean style, or, even better, in a cabana on the fifth-floor pool deck.
The bar in the lavishly decorated lobby is a favorite gathering place for the
bronzed and attractive residents. 5. The Surf Rider Malibu
This hotel is an ex-roadside hotel that has been transformed into a chic beachfront getaway with
the best and most upscale rooftop in Malibu. The lovely bend of beach outside your window
is not attempted to be overshadowed by the bright, uncomplicated rooms at The Surf Rider.
The room is still prepared to handle the water and sand you'll track in from across the street,
with a comfortable bed you'll sink into after a day in the sun. However, the light, beachy tones
and unadorned, refined design are still fit for a journal spread without ever feeling too precious.
The hotel's custom-made candles and the grown alchemist soaps in the slight drizzle contribute
to the pleasant aromas throughout the entire space. Although the bed-sized room's individual
balconies give them a little extra living space, you won't be able to spend much time on the
offered hammock because of the road noise along the Pacific Coast Highway. The thick sliding
glass doors thankfully buffer the sound to a faint hum inside. But that doesn't matter, you'll
probably spend most of your time on the property on the hotel's rooftop patio.
Number 4. Venice Beach House
Warren Wilson, the proprietor of the now-closed Los Angeles Daily Journal,
constructed this inn in the artisan style in 1911. It has been meticulously restored and
furnished with outstanding antique pieces. Many of the rooms are named after figures with ties
to the area. It is currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Venice founder Abbott Kinney, sometimes local Charlie Chaplin. Although four of the nine
rooms share a bathroom, each one has its own unique personality and facilities. The more
opulent apartments come with a fireplace, a patio, a private entrance, and an ocean view.
Number 3. Shade Hotel
The famous Shade Hotel is a posh boutique hotel with an ocean view rooftop pool and
lots of California charm. Although it wasn't exclusively responsible, this gleaming property
had a significant impact on Manhattan Beach's revitalization. It's a modest building, yet it's
well-formed, sophisticated yet approachable, and fashionable yet not stuffy. The 38 guest rooms
make excellent use of the available space. All rooms feature spacious spa baths, DVD players,
color-adjustable chromotherapy lighting, and multi-purpose tables that can be scaled
back and forth over the beds for brunch or used as a desk. A sizable central courtyard
and the beautiful zinc lounge are located downstairs. The unbelievable sky deck,
which has a small pool, is located upstairs. Both are not necessary if you stay in the
penthouse apartment because it includes a beer tap in the kitchenette. A truly impressive location.
Number 2. Venice on the Beach Hotel
For guests seeking a fuss-free, laid-back SoCal experience, this seaside hotel offers warm,
beachy decor and chill vibes only facilities, such as memory foam mattresses in the suites
and a bright retro lounge on the roof. Venice on the Beach, which is set back from Venice Beach's
bustling boardwalk scene, offers a cozy escape from the chaos of LA's most delightfully strange
area. You're invited to unwind and recover inside Venice on the Beach's seashell pink walls,
where you'll find straightforward but comfortable accommodations decorated in a beachy palette of
blues and whites, after a day of watching people, including greased-up weightlifters,
skater babes, and a 60-year-old man dressed as a tree.
Number 1. Hotel Shangri-La With romantic architecture,
contemporary conveniences, and a rooftop cocktail bar frequented by the IT crowd,
this seaside art deco hangout offers old Hollywood charm in a west-side location.
The Hotel Shangri-La, which is perched on sunny Santa Monica Boulevard above the Pacific Ocean,
is a time machine to 1939, although one with some fairly modern conveniences.
Rooms are romantic without looking outdated and equipped with iPhone docks and free Wi-Fi.
The exterior and interior of the hotel feature streamlined modern architecture as well.
During your visit, you're welcome to relax in a private cabana by the pool,
indulge in some R&R at the on-site Xanadu Spa, or take advantage of a complimentary yoga
session on Saturday mornings. While the property itself is beautiful, Shangri-La's extraordinarily
convenient location is also a big draw. Palisades Park is located across the street.
It is a small area of grass dotted with palm trees, dog walkers, and fitness enthusiasts.
