It's 6 o'clock in the morning, and I'm starving.
I hear this hotel has an awesome buffet.
Let's go check it out.
Alright, round one.
I'm staying at the Sheraton Palace Hotel in Ghana.
And I pass this buffet every morning.
I never ate here before.
I was looking for something to eat, and this place is open, and it looks fabulous.
First of all, I want to say, this buffet is so clean and elegant looking.
Everything is bright, the setup is beautiful.
Let's start off with some warm and spicy soup in my belly.
Yeah, it's a version of pho.
I'm sad that there's no meat in here, but everything else is really tasty.
So when there's no meat, add your own meat.
Mmm, whoa.
That mushroom bulgogi, that's delicious.
Round two, I'm going a little starch.
I got an assortment of dumplings.
And because it's there, and I love it, I got some bacon.
The dumpling texture, obviously, very soft.
But what if, what if, we add a little piece of crispy bacon inside?
So, kimchi dumpling again.
Take a bite, have a little opening.
All right, this kind of completely fell apart on me, but the idea is there.
It's so nice to bite into a soft dumpling with a nice crispy bacon on the inside,
then the bacon fat melts over the dumpling.
Why hasn't anybody ever made a bacon dumpling?
Million dollar idea right there.
Or like a bacon-wrapped dumpling.
I mean, why not? They got bacon-wrapped everything else.
Definitely the best buffet that Sheraton I've ever been to.
This is why I love eating at other countries.
And I feel like it's a lesson that the U.S. can learn,
is that you don't have to just eat eggs and bacon and sausage in the morning.
Serve some dumplings, serve some kimchi, eat a steak.
Who says breakfast has to be the boring old stuff?
Especially hotel breakfast, which is literally the same stuff all across America.
I mean, is this wrong that I go to a hotel breakfast buffet, see a roasted tomato, and feel excited?
But one thing is, this buffet is definitely not cheap.
$35,000 won, $35 for this buffet.
Now, is it nice? Yes.
Is it worth $35? I don't think so.
Also, be careful with this if you ever come here.
I kept reaching for it, thinking it's water.
I mean, it is water, but not for you to drink.
Now, I'm going to go and walk around this massive department store.
Check this out.
This is called Shinsegae, I think.
Take a look at this massive mall.
Well, I think it's closed.
I should explain.
I came to Korea at a very bad time.
This is what's considered Korean Thanksgiving.
Well, actually, we have this holiday, too, called 中秋节, Mid-Autumn Festival.
Like, all the notices I've been getting in my hotel room that's translated into English says,
And right now, it's Wednesday afternoon, but I guess the holiday starts a little early.
I was literally going to walk here because I see this, like, banana little girl thing.
So, I'm thinking this is some sort of cafe, but it turns out this is an adult store.
That little figurine is very deceiving.
It literally looks like something that should be in front of a cafe or a candy store.
Kids could accidentally wander in there.
Since the mall is closed, I was walking around looking for a cafe just to kill a couple hours.
I wandered into this place, and a couple of things backfired on me.
First of all, I really wanted to use the restroom.
They don't have one.
Secondly, I ordered what I perceived to be a little bowl of shaved ice.
And what I got was a shaved ice bigger than my hand.
I could literally ski down this thing.
These are blueberries.
Frozen blueberries.
Wow, that's a way to go.
If you guys never had this before, this is different than typical shaved ice, which is kind of coarse and crunchy.
This is more like shaved snow.
It's basically shaved ice with milk in it, so it's really nice and smooth.
And literally, these are all just frozen blueberries.
I think a K-pop star just walked by that group over there.
I see some dudes walking and waving to girls, and they're just being swarmed.
I mean, I don't recognize them because they all kind of look the same to me.
Every time I come here, there's always some cultural performance.
All right, this is crazy.
I'm up here in the lounge, and this is all people picking up their duty-free stuff.
And it's just mountains of goods.
I mean, I guess this is what people do.
These are all Chinese people, and they're out here buying all this stuff and taking it all home.
I guess you save a lot of money if you buy duty-free.
Otherwise, people wouldn't be lugging all this stuff back home.
I'm thinking most of these people are just going to go back and sell these things.
I saw this last time. The emperor and the empress.
I got a picture with them last time, too.
Because of my American Express card, I was able to get free access to this lounge.
This is the Asiana Business Class Lounge.
It's the first time I'm flying Asiana economy, of course.
And this business lounge is, I think by far, at least appearance-wise, the best I've ever been in.
It's so massive, and it's immaculate.
It's so clean, and the design is so pretty.
It's got a grand piano, and it is really quiet in here.
Now let's check out the most important criteria.
Food.
Despite how beautiful this lounge looks, the food looks pretty much not edible.
There's cold pastries, there's this weird chicken thing with rice cakes, and some horrendous-looking fried rice.
So the only thing I found that kind of looks like it's edible are these tuna sandwiches and instant noodles.
Bon appétit.
Alright, this lounge just got better.
I found massage chairs and curved TV.
Well, I never thought I'd say this, but I hope the food on the plane is better than what I just had.
But again, this lounge is really awesome.
It's got the massage chairs, it's got the curvy TVs, it's got a little personal space where you can just lounge around.
If they only would fix the food.
Alright, flight time. See you guys back in San Francisco.
Someone shrink this little TV screen.
Because I remember when I flew into Korea, this was ten times bigger.
Even for economy, this is redonkulously small.
As a comparison, let me show you guys.
Here is my iPad mini, and that is the screen.
My iPad mini is almost twice as big as this little screen.
Here's my iPhone 6.
This is not the 6S, this is the 6.
My iPhone 6 is almost as big as this screen.
This is my favorite thing on the flight.
Almost afraid. Let's see what we got.
Oh, no, that looks halfway decent right there.
Looks like beef bulgogi.
Bulgogi, kimchi, and a taco pack.
There's an egg roll, and some fermented bean paste.
Miso soup, and for dessert I got some kind of green bean cake.
I just realized, this is the sun for my bulgogi.
So I guess I can wrap my bulgogi in this, and eat it that way.
Airplane kimchi.
It's not half bad.
The airplane food, much better than the lounge food.
This food is actually really decent.
The miso soup is good.
Look at fresh veggies for my bulgogi, and the veggies are really fresh.
And they give you a lot of varieties.
Got some peppers here.
They just give us pizza, in a sealed box.
I'm not sure if I just took a bite of the pizza with the cardboard.
Well, that's it for my Korea trip.
Thank you guys so much for following along.
I'll see you later.
