BASEMENT REMODEL DAY 1

Good morning guys. It is a very chilly day today and I'm so excited. I just love the fall and I feel like it feels like fall today. So I'm wearing a sweater but we have some exciting things going on in the inside. Me and Thomas are doing the basement. We're going to be doing the little wall area that we talked about and we actually are really trying to do this on a super tight budget so we can show you guys how cool you can make a basement with barely any money. So we're doing this DIY totally ourselves. Actually I know Thomas is really doing all of this so I'm going to just take you guys inside so you can kind of see what we have done so far. Okay here's what we've done. While Thomas ripped up all this carpet we're going to be putting different flooring in right here and then we're getting our new carpet obviously the rest of the way. But we're going to do a little like kitchen area and we have it like drawn on the wall so you kind of know what it's going to look like. So the flooring that we're doing, let me just show you guys what it looks like. It's dope. It looks just like tile and kind of like wood. I mean it'll look like wood too but you put grout on in between it. This is just like sticky you guys. It was so cheap. It was like a dollar a square foot or something. So again this is why we wanted to do it super cheap. We can show you guys how cute this is going to be and nobody's going to know. Obviously I guess everybody's going to know it's not tile. Oh snap! Because we just told everybody but you wouldn't know. It looks really good. I can't wait to see it done. Will you just walk us through one step? So he just ripped off the back of that like it's it is sticky. You rip off the back. They say you can do it without having to put an adhesive on it but I just think it would stick a lot better with an adhesive and I don't want to worry about pieces peeling up. So I'm going to use like a multi-purpose adhesive and I just take my trial scoop here so like I just get a lot on there. I'll get another big scoop. I'll just put some on there and then I'm going to run my trowel up and down and I want to make sure I like hit the edges really good just so we all know like edges are what peel up first right? Right and then the cool thing after this so he has spacers in between all of them. You put grout over it just like you would tile so it really looks awesome. Like when we saw the finished pieces I was like I think I would rather have this than even hardwood downstairs because it just looks so cool. So I can't wait for you guys to see it but we'll show you the okay watch how he sticks it. So my wall is square so I'm going off so I put my spacers in between. I set the piece down. If you get any glue on the top of it because you will because no wood is perfect. It just cleans right off as long as you don't pour it in your eyes. Good idea. Put your pressure down the corners and voila on to the next one. This is awesome. Okay so we have to go to the store. Okay we're out of a lot of groceries and milk and that is our favorite thing to eat. These two cannot survive without milk so we need to go get some milk. Say cheese. Look at this one. What's that? That's a witch. A witch pumpkin. Look at my little helpers carrying the groceries in, huh? Yeah. Was that heavy? What was in it? Oh you're tired. Hi Pickle. Where is he? Do you want some juice? There's a bird on there. He does say that. This is Max and this is the kitty. Where's the kitty? Wow her name's Chloe remember? Can you open this? Yeah let's open it. Is that stuff good? Yeah I think it's apple juice honey. Oh there is a straw jobby. Maybe huh? What do you think Simon? What does it taste like? You guys are silly. Silly boys. I have not seen the progress. I left oh my goodness. Start dumping it all over the floor. Yeah? Yeah. Makes it way faster? A little bit. Are they from the carpet? They must have had cats. Someone did huh? I'm getting this floor ready for you buddy. Yeah that looks so good babe. Yeah honey cakes. Okay guys I'm in the car again. I'm about to go to Lowe's and pick out a few different paint colors. Thomas doesn't trust himself and I don't trust him either going. So I'm going to go while he's finishing up the floor downstairs and I'm picking out paint for the wall that we're doing. Some cabinets and the front porch because we've been wanting to do that for a little bit. So off to get some paint. Is that Cohen? No that's Simon. What is that? Oh my goodness. Well we are getting our paint on and yes I'm actually helping. This is why I'm wearing my dare shirt from sixth grade. It's been through a lot. But Thomas is painting the cabinets right now and I'm gonna go paint the porch because I mean I might as well help right? He always says you don't do any of this stuff so now he can't say I didn't do everything or anything. Here's what he's up to. So this is the color we're doing the downstairs cabinets. It's a pretty gray. Can you guys see? The sun's kind of weird. Yeah we're gonna need a lot of coats but it's gonna be super cute with what we're doing down here. I can't wait. All right I'm gonna go get started on the porch. Okay so here's the porch before. It has a lot of white paint on it from when we painted the house but I think our idea is going to be pretty cute. We are going to be painting the steps and then railing a different color so I'm excited to see how it all turns out. Guys here it is. It's all done. Wow look how awesome this stuff looks so cool. Doesn't that look awesome guys? I'm obsessed with it. Now I can't wait for you guys to see tomorrow. This wall once it's all the way finished it'll look amazing and then obviously the new carpet so it completes the whole look. All right uh the porch is pretty much done. I have to paint the poles tomorrow or the posts whatever those are but I love how the color turned out. We actually ended up painting the door the same color because I loved it so much but there was a skunk. I was out here painting and I turned around I thought it was a cat and I screamed Thomas and it just lifts up its leg or not its leg lifts up its tail and takes off. I was so glad. I'm like Thomas what if I would have screamed and it would have sprayed me in the face. It was so close to me. We saw a skunk and a rat today. I'm just catching up your job by the way. You did a great job. Yeah I just did one coat. I did two coats all the way up. Oh yeah I guess I'll show you guys what the door looks like. We'll show again tomorrow when the sun is out because it looks the lighting is just really bad in here tomorrow. You think that'll be copyrighted because it was so good. YouTube will be like copyright infringement. You heard Annie on there. Yep that's what they'll think. These boys for days that we would make something yummy. Hey what are we gonna make? Cookies yay.
