I finally traveled to Hong Kong and had one of the most overpriced seafood meals.

While I'm in Hong Kong, yay!
My first impression was of the customs agent, the guy who checked me in, didn't speak a
single word.
The transaction was done in complete silence.
No asking me what I'm here for, no asking me how long I'm staying.
Also the guy next to me, in the counter next to me, the lady who was trying to enter Hong
Kong, she didn't have her passport out and she asked the agent what he needed, which
turned out to be a big mistake.
And he just looked at her, didn't say a single thing.
Then she asked again, she said, what do I need?
Do I need to show you my ID?
Which yeah, you should have your passport out, but maybe she didn't know.
So again, he just stares at her and doesn't say a thing.
And then he looks over at me and I'm thinking, what do you want, affirmation?
Anyway, I'm going to go try to find some way of getting to my hotel, I'll see you guys
over there.
Look at that massive apartment building.
That's one building.
Just checked into my hotel and as you notice, no fourth floor because four means death and
we don't want that.
Let me give you guys a tour of my hotel room.
Key slot, there you go.
That's all my, oh, mood lighting, interesting.
Now, yep, that's about it.
Hong Kong hotel rooms are notoriously small and this one is no different.
It's pretty small, but you know what?
It's clean.
That's all I could really care about.
It's clean.
Bathroom, nice and clean.
Great.
You know, we're not trying to be all fancy schmancy here.
Let's see what they give us for amenities.
Oh no, no automated toilet.
I was getting used to those in Taiwan.
Oh well.
But we got a bathtub jacuzzi here.
No slippers.
Wait, actually.
Ooh, got an umbrella, bathrobes, and I love the hotel slippers and just in case you're
eating too much, yeah, you can wet yourself and feel bad, feel shame about the good Hong
Kong food we just ate.
Ooh, check this out.
A little mini bar.
They said they're not going to refill any of this except for the bottled water.
That's all I really care about.
Little fridge.
All right.
Cool.
That's all free.
That's nice.
And what's cool about this hotel is supposedly, oh, here it is.
They give you this phone where it can be used as a phone.
You can actually call the US on this for free, where you can use it as a hotspot for free
99.9% of people who smoke in one of our rooms get fined 3,000 Hong Kong dollars.
I approve of that.
The last hotel room I went into, as soon as I walked in, smelled like smoke.
And let's take a look at the view.
They actually upgraded me to a higher floor, which is awesome because, wow, I got a pretty
nice view of the city.
I'm in Kowloon.
It's a nice view.
Well, that looks kind of dumpy.
That's some shady alley apartments over there.
Huh.
We're going to stay away from that area.
I did see a hotpot place right across the way from the hotel.
But this view is awesome.
This is really nice.
I wasn't really expecting a view.
I'm pretty satisfied with this hotel room, and now we're going to do something really
exciting.
It's Saturday, so we're going to work on some videos.
Yep.
One thing I forgot to buy for Hong Kong is an adapter because I didn't need it for Taiwan.
And I had to go to this shady little shop there to get it because they didn't really
sell it in any, like, normal electronics stores.
Now I'm just hunting for some food to eat.
What about this place?
You guys think this looks legit?
I mean, it definitely looks very local.
This whole area around my hotel is like a massive night market thing with just, like,
food vendors everywhere, people selling random stuff.
I mean, there's tons of seafood places.
You would expect that because it's Hong Kong.
Found this seafood place, and I had no idea what to get, so the guy basically ordered
a bunch of stuff for me.
So we'll see what he got.
Well, apparently he ordered me some steamed shrimp.
I'm not big on steamed stuff because I don't feel like they have a lot of flavor, but there's
some sauce that comes with it, so we'll see if that makes it better.
These are pretty big-sized shrimp, though.
Alright, here's the shrimp.
Let's dip it in some sauce.
A lot tastier than I thought.
It's really fresh.
This reminds me of that shrimp that I had at the Taiwanese night market, which was basically
alive and they just cooked right in front of me.
It's really darn good.
This is something else he ordered for me.
I have no clue what this is.
Something fried with, uh, looks like shrimp on the inside.
Alright, let's try this.
Not my favorite.
Um, it's pretty oily, and there's, uh, it's shrimp on the inside.
And this is the last dish, fresh scallops.
Pretty good.
I got a lot of garlic in here, which I like in my seafood.
So I just wanted to try the fresh seafood in Hong Kong, and, uh, you know what?
It's not my thing.
I don't love Cantonese food that much because it's, they're really based on a lot of natural
flavors, but I like salt and spices and vinegar, which is kind of the opposite of what this
food is all about.
And honestly, I kind of feel like he took advantage of me not knowing what to get and
probably recommended some really expensive stuff.
That whole thing was about 350, um, Hong Kong dollars, which, that's about 50 bucks US.
That's not a cheap meal.
Now I'm at this wonton noodle soup place that apparently Anthony Bredin went to, and a bowl
of wonton noodle soup, 36 Hong Kong dollars.
And I think I'll like this much more.
Here's the noodle soup.
It's a little full, but there's a lot of noodles in here.
And I think I got about, uh, there's like three, four wontons in here too.
I'll tell you guys what.
This little bowl of wonton noodle soup is amazing.
I'm going to come back and do a video on this later.
