Hello, I'm Shinobu Hashimoto, a pottery master in Sapporo.
Today, I'm going to show you how to regenerate clay.
I'm sure there are a lot of people who make pottery at home.
When you make pottery at home, you get a lot of clay, such as shavings.
I'm going to show you how to do that.
Basically, you can regenerate clay as many times as you want.
It's hard to throw away the shavings, so it's better to regenerate it.
It's good for the environment, and it's good for your wallet.
It's a little subtle.
When we work, it's hard to decide whether it's cost-effective to regenerate clay or not.
It might be cheaper to throw away the clay and buy a new one than to regenerate it.
It takes a lot of time to regenerate.
In the case of professionals, it's a little subtle, but I think it's better to regenerate it for those who do it as a hobby.
It's a scraper.
If it's in a state before it dries, you can put it on a wet cloth and leave it as it is.
I think you can regenerate it as it is.
I think you can make it soft again and re-knead it, but once it's a little dry, it's a little difficult to re-knead it.
I'll dry it all like this once.
You have to dry it until it's dry.
It's a scraper, so it dries quickly.
If you leave it for a few days, I usually store it in a bigger one and spread it out on a blue sheet and dry it.
If it's a small amount, you can put it in a bag and leave it for a day or two.
First of all, it's in this dry state.
I'm going to put this in a bucket.
You can put water on it first.
I'm gonna put water in here.
You can put water on it first.
I'm so proud of it right now.
It's better to put water on it than dust.
I'll put it here.
I'm going to put water in here
just enough to soak
I have to warn you
don't mix water
if you mix water here
it will be lumpy
and it will be hard to play
I'm going to leave it
It's better if I leave it for a day
It might not take a day
but I'll leave it
I won't touch it
I'm going to leave it
It's been a day
I left it for a day
I'm going to strain it today
Let's take a look at the inside
It looks like this
Can you see it?
I didn't touch it since yesterday
I just left it
I think it's almost melted
I'm going to move it to this tray to make it easier to work
I mixed it
I wish I had two buckets
I only had one bucket
It's pretty rough
If you don't have a lot of water, it won't be rough
The work after this is fast
But if the work to strain is too hard, it's hard to do
If you take time, it will dry up
I think it's okay if it's a little rough when you play
I'll put it in here
Why do I put it in here?
I'm going to strain it with this colander
It fits well
I wanted to use this bucket
It's okay if you don't have this
It's easy to use
This is a colander
I'm looking for a good-looking eye size when I go to a home improvement store
I think the roughness of the eyes depends on the soil you use
The soil I use is quite rough
If you use a fine colander,
If you use a fine colander, the roughness of the clay will disappear
I'm looking for a good-looking eye
It doesn't have to be a colander, it can be anything
I think it's good to choose depending on the soil you use
If you don't use a colander, there will be garbage
There is garbage and hair
In some cases, stones are mixed
I'll use a colander
It's easy because the amount is small
I usually use a big barrel
I use a drill to make a hole
It's easy with this amount
It's better to make it visible
If this work is not rough, it will be quite difficult
If you make it rough like this, it's relatively easy
But there are some lumps left
But if you press it with a drill, it will be crushed
I think it's good
There is some large sand left
It's better to use a colander
Do you understand?
There is also a big stone
I strained it
After straining, I'll dry it
I usually make a pot like this
This is also for regenerating clay
I'll put a cloth here
I'll put it in here
I'll just wait for it to dry
I'll leave it for a few days
In winter, it takes about a month
In summer, it takes a long time
But I don't have a pot like this at home
What should I do in such a case?
I think a colander is good
I'll put it on the colander
I'll do it with this clay pot
You can put a bat or something underneath and let the water leak
I'll pour it in
Like this
If it looks like this
I'll do it in a house pattern
Bat
You can put a big pot
Anything is fine
If you can put it outside
If you have a garden
You can put it outside
At that time
I'll tighten it like this
Otherwise, dust and insects will get in
If you can't put it outside
I think it's okay like this
You can hang it like this
Put it in a bag
Hang it
When it dries, it becomes clay
When it becomes a good hardness
You can knead it as it is and repaint it
That's all
The cloth I use
This is a river
If it's 100 years old, it will be eaten by the bacteria of the clay
It will be torn
It won't last long
The cloth used for clay is
Anyway, it's a river
Maybe it's not good if it's 100 years old
What is this?
It's a sheet or something
I've been using this for about 15 years
I've been using it for a long time
On the other hand
Cloth like 100 years old
I want to eat insects
It will be tattered
It's the same even if you wrap it in clay
So I use a river-like one as much as possible
I don't know what's good
It's like this
I think it's good to play clay like this
I think I'll end here today
Thank you for watching until the end
Please look forward to the next video
Bye bye
