We didn't get Shanghai'd but we're sure glad we're here. This city surprises and amazes at every turn. We wander the Old City of Shanghai and the Ancient City of Shanghai. We see folks practicing Tai Chi and you know Kate can't resist exploring a Shanghai supermarket. The architecture, both old and new, takes our breath away. We find a 250 year old Tea House during an impromptu tour of Shanghai with a local named Chen (who also happens to sell pearls and jewelry...no we don't buy anything). Now this may surprise you, but we also find an amazing and giant meal after checking out one of Shanghai's awesome parks. This whole city is just beautiful and is organized and easy to navigate. We also brave the Shanghai Metro and we find it so easy and cheap to use that it's a solid go to for transportation around Shanghai. To close out the week we sample a few more local offerings. 中國

Today we're going to go and see if we can find the old city. Hey we found it!
The old city. The architecture is wow. I've only seen it in books and it's worth every penny to
look at this and come here. I really want to record this but I'm not gonna because I don't
want to be disrespectful. There's an old guy over here behind us doing tai chi just out by himself.
He's really good and something about watching an old guy really good at tai chi do tai chi
in China really just kind of makes me go oh. We came across a train village that is beautiful
and unfortunately they're just building it so we can't go in. It's so detailed.
I'm not like a model trainer but that place is amazing. They have dance studios.
Of course you can go for fuzzy animals. Chinese grocery store. Let's see what's in there.
You're not gonna believe this. They have groceries. Frogs, turtles, and eel.
Well that's a historical building and Katie's slobbering over the McDonald's.
This is Chen. He's born in Shanghai. He's been telling us about all the changes here over the
last 25 years. This is metropolitan China and we kind of like it. So Chen told us this building
is from 1930 and these that look old are less than 30 years old. Knockoffs. They're painted outside.
How can an old building use concrete? One circle one year. One, two, three, four.
Look at all those pearls in there. Yeah and different color. Some is the pink one. Some is
a white one. Some is even black one. You know why color is different from same oyster? No.
Because the different minerals contain water. They make the colors different.
To be honest the color doesn't mean anything to me. For me, Katie, I'm more interested in the shape.
Thank you so much. You are the best temporary tour guide. That building is like 250 years old.
250 years old and that is Shanghai Tower. And for you Trueblood fans, I just couldn't resist.
So this one time we were walking down Fangbang Avenue.
No. Look at that. It's just like freedom flying in front of us. I love all the toys.
Now we're searching for more food. Oh wow. This was 22. You won. You put it all in and it's spicy sauce.
Oh my god. Look at all that food. This is absolutely delicious. I put in every mushroom
they had which was about 12 different types of mushrooms. And then check out this meatball.
It's a meatball that's got meat inside of it. And these little squares have meat in them. They're
fantastic. I don't know what it is but it's good. Whoops. And it goes everywhere. Meat stuffed
meatball. That's a winner. So we're braving the Shanghai Metro. Super easy. Well said on the
machine. Goes over to English. It's super easy to use. It said super easy 70 times. Really nice
metro system. Today plus plus for ease of use. We had no idea what we were doing and we still got
where we needed to go quickly. And it's really cheap. Almost said super again. Kate's in heaven.
Hey buddy. You see who's showing us around?
What an awesome idea. China even has crowd share umbrellas. I don't think it would work
where we're from because people would break them and steal them. But here they just put them back.
So it works great. Well we found such a winner last night for dinner. We're going back to the
same place. A really good friend of mine offered us free tickets to Shanghai Disneyland today.
But Kate decided she'd rather go check out grocery stores. So uh. I have my priorities. And we're like
totally just wandering around Shanghai on our own. It's fun. It's easy. It is. It's a must. I have been looking for fold-up
shoes for a while. And look at them all. I just might have found heaven. Little known fact. Colonel
Sanders' younger brother sells noodles in China. We're going to try chili pepper Snickers. Oh wow.
Good catch. Not bad. But I won't have it again. The review of 99% of the things that you try.
I try everything. You do? Very proud of you. This thing is really good by the way.
Chili pepper Snickers. I love it. If you like our video, click the thumbs up and subscribe.
